It’s official. And it could end up being a steal.

The Vikings and Rams have announced the trade that sends running back Cam Akers to Minnesota. As surmised, the 2026 draft picks include the Vikings getting a seventh rounder and the Rams getting a sixth rounder.

The conditions were not disclosed. Presumably, they relate either to Akers playing in a specific number of games in 2023, or the Vikings signing him to a new contract.

Akers is in the final year of his rookie deal, at a salary of $1.451 million.

The Vikings will send a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for Akers and a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick.

Just have to wait and see I think Mattison is getting a raw deal here how can they expect him to look good when you have a piss azz O-line the Vikings have to find a run game there making roster moves now.....if Cam Akers was all that why would they let him go?

Those are good points. I believe personally that the Vikings arnt overlooking Mattison or looking to replace him, but just Ty Chandler and Gaskin have showed nothing, zero... so to compliment the run game they went after Akers. Most good offenses around the NFL these days have a 1, 2 punch from the backfield, Vikings are sputtering in all phases of the run game, including the o-line. Risner is going to be a good fit and Akers a solid 1 or 2 option... he may even push some extra effort from Mattison... not saying he's a slacker, but sometimes the competition is beneficial.

I think Akers was in Sean McVay's dog-house. Hopefully Akers is one of those guys that a change of scenery brings out the best of him.

The Vikings miss not having a stud D-lineman no PRESSURE!!!

Well, Harrison Phillips is a stud, at least potential to be one at NT if you ask me. He has had 12 tackles and a half a sack credited, but he does well and should progress. On his left and right in this 3-4 base, which Im still not used to, Lowry and Bullard need to get it going and add more pressure on the QB, but more importantly than that is stopping the run, which is why I have always been a life long supporter of the 4-3. The rest behind them are going to be ok, Danielle Hunter and Pace have been fantastic and the secondary has improved, but yes, your right, they need to get it going up front.

Ive always as a Vikings fan been used to the 4-3 base and having giant tackles in the middle of that line that stuff the run is ideal, imo.. This 3-4 stuff is new to me and still a work in progress. Flores is a guy who will not hesitate to tell higher-ups we need this and that to get it right and Im sure they will listen. Flores wants, like nobody's business to have a good if not great defense, because I really think he has ultimately aspirations to coach at the HC level somewhere and soon.

Bottom line - there better on defense, but they need to be even more better, especially against the run.

Competition might be good for Mattison cause when the Vikings had Dalvin Cook it kinda brought out the best in him maybe Akers will do the same and Darrisaw the O-line needs you

I'm not used to 3-4 defense give Harrison Phillips another stud lineman cause I'm not sold on Bullard or Lowry it was a shame how the Eagles just manhandled the Vikings D-line

Ĵust how bad is this O-line they never have no push,I thought Brian Flores was going fix the defensive backfield and get Ed Ingram out ASAP Justin Herbert is awesome but the Vikings keep beating themselves Capt Kirk keeps getting hit who's in charge here Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah and KOC are not on the same page it seems like it....pure chaos

Crowd noise is generally a problem for offenses when teams are playing on the road, but that wasn’t the case for the Vikings on Sunday.

After a pass to tight end T.J. Hockenson for a first down with 35 seconds left to play, the Vikings took 23 seconds before running their next play from the Chargers’ 6-yard-line. Kirk Cousins looked for Hockenson in the end zone, but the ball was tipped and intercepted to seal a 28-24 Los Angeles win.

Cousins said after the game that the delay was because he could not get the play call from head coach Kevin O’Connell due to the crowd noise at U.S. Bank Stadium.

“Just couldn’t hear him with the noise,” Cousins said, via Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. “Just ended up calling a play, and the play I called was the same play he was trying to get to.”

O’Connell said he didn’t “ultimately think time was the issue with the game ending the way it did” but, in hindsight, “just wish I would have clocked it” so that the team could gather itself before trying for a touchdown that would have avoided an 0-3 start to the season.

What burns me the most is, if your not sure, clock the ball and reset, just like KOC mentions after the fact. At the time this was all going down, I was yelling, SPIKE THE F'N FOOTBALL... I guess they couldnt hear me over the crowd noise. ;)

0-3 isnt the end of the world, per say, its a very up-hill battle for sure, but this thing aint over yet... I havnt heard the Fat Lady Singing, yet. So, regroup, learn from it and move on, just too talented of a team to be in this mess in the first place, but if they have the capability of learning, they still might get back in this North thing before all is said and done.

KOC needs to grow as a coach here he hasn't handled it very well when the game gets tough 0-3 is not good every game now is a must have game who's running the show?

KOC is running it. Hand signals should have been in order, Cousins should have waved to the crowd for silence and/or spike the damn ball. They seemed to be stressed and in 'panic mode'.

Some play calling was very questionable, but we always, as Monday Morning Quarterbacks, can see this better looking back in retrospect.

Its a salvageable season as far as the North goes, in my opinion, but there is no more wiggle room. The team, in spite of possible bad play-calling, has to execute and get it together. There is room for improvement on both sides of the ball and a lot of it comes down to lack of execution by the players. Flores made a few mistakes too, I noticed DB blitzing on occasion getting burned quite badly. So, looking back there is plenty of people and personal to blame, but regrouping and fixing these miscues must be front and center. I dont like blaming certain peeps on the field or the side-lines, its just a time now where everyone learns, moves on and doesnt repeat said mistakes. Can they, who knows?

Win 3 outa 4 of the next games and the Vikings will be right back in it. Anywhere around .500 at the half-way point and I'll be happy.

Anyway - Its all life as a Vikings fan... it aint for sissies.

Why is the media pushing so hard for the Vikings to trade Capt Kirk to the JETS has Capt Kirk said he wants to be a member of the JETS and if Zach Wilson can't cut it in NY I have my doubts a change of scenery will help the Vikings
