Following the Vikings' 24-16 preseason loss to the Titans on Saturday night, head coach Kevin O'Connell provided injury updates on a couple players. NaJee Thompson Thompson made another incredible play as a punt gunner in the first quarter of this game, flying downfield to make a perfectly-timed tackle for the second consecutive week. The undrafted rookie out of Georgia State is a special teams weapon who seems like a near-lock to make the 53-man roster all of a sudden. Unfortunately, Thompson's helmet came off awkwardly on the play and he started feeling concussion symptoms shortly afterwards, according to O'Connell. He was removed from the game and will presumably go into the concussion protocol this week, meaning he won't return until he's medically cleared. Thompson's status for this week's joint practices and next Saturday's preseason finale are unknown, but he's likely already done enough to make the team. N'Keal Harry This was supposed to be another opportunity for Harry to compete to make the Vikings' roster. Instead, he suffered a minor injury in warmups and the team held him out to be cautious. Harry "had a little bit of a soft tissue aggravation in warmups," O'Connell said. "We wanted to be smart with him, instead of trying to make him push through it. But that was unfortunate. Wanted to see him tonight." More notes There was no update from O'Connell on Jalen Nailor, who has been out since the first day of training camp, but he did bring him up when discussing the Vikings' wide receiver room after the game. "I would love to get Jalen Nailor some work here at some point if we can," O'Connell said. "But he's a player that I think very highly of." DBs Theo Jackson and Tay Gowan picked up minor shoulder injuries in this game, O'Connell said. Jackson was able to return to action, which suggests he'll be good to go this week. Other players who didn't participate on Saturday for injury reasons: Jordan Addison, Mekhi Blackmon, Akayleb Evans, Kene Nwangwu, Brian Asamoah, Jaquelin Roy, and Garett Maag. T.J. Hockenson and Brian O'Neill are on the mend but wouldn't have played anyways. The Vikings expect to get Addison (concussion protocol) back this week. Nwangwu's absence has lasted longer than expected. INSIDE THE VIKINGS/SI
I agree with you O-line had no push up front Ty Chandler did his best with no help the D-line where the hell was it Chestnut just ran wild, and I don't understand not playing DeWayne McBride to see what you have Jaren Hall looked okay the Vikings better get there sh*t together or it's going to be a long azz season WAS NOT IMPRESSED SATURDAY
Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah signed another XFL player he seems to love the XFL stars now it's Jordan Ta'amu qb of Ole Miss again no D-linemen ( sigh.)
From what I read TJ Hockensen and Justin Jefferson are in negotiations why did he wait till the last minute to do this from looking from the outside in it looks a mess
Its actually common. Im not sure why, but both sides seem to play cat & mouse till the last second. Negotiations are ongoing and usually secretive and between agents and the team reps.
The Vikings on Thursday announced the signing of safety Jake Gervase. Gervase joins the Vikings after playing 19 regular-season games over the past four seasons with the Rams. He also played in all four playoff games on the way to Los Angeles winning Super Bowl LVI. In order to make room for Gervase on the roster, the Vikings terminated the contract of receiver N'Keal Harry. Originally an undrafted free agent out of Iowa, Gervase played 304 snaps on special teams for the Rams in 2022. He overlapped with Vikings Special Teams Coordinator in Los Angeles in 2019 and with Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell from 2020-21. In 2018, Gervase led the Hawkeyes with 89 tackles, including 49 solo stops and tied for second in the Big Ten and 16th nationally with four interceptions. A native of Davenport, Iowa, Gervase totaled 153 tackles, four tackles for loss, 20 passes defensed and seven interceptions for the Hawkeyes. VIKINGS.com
Hall strikes! 14-0. Joseph 4/4 on PAT's this preseason. On that TD, Addison pulled a lot of looks in coverage from the defense, thats going to leave others open.
Good drive by the Cardinals. Tune looks good... Vikings defense getting pushed around in the run game.
