Letting Shelly walk was a big mistake, in my opinion. They could have signed him cheap too, maybe just a few dollars more. Reportedly the Raiders are paying only $1.3M in 2023 for him, so why didnt they offer him a raise of sorts? Answer - Flores. Apparently Shelly doidnt fit the mold Flores is looking for... he better know what he's doing, because last year (2nd half of season) Shelly was highly ranked amongst all CB's in the NFL When you see Patrick Peterson sign a $14M contract to play the Corner, why couldnt the Vikings pay Shelly what he deserved (guess I already answered that question)?
Just a BS composite of negative stuff thats been posted on Twitter, Reddit and other social media... Here's the list.
Ì have read some of the comments now I really don't give a sh*t about this,Ed Oliver a Viking can't see the Buffalo Bills letting him go
Three biggest concerns for the Minnesota Vikings before the draft The Minnesota Vikings had a successful run under first-year head coach Kevin O’Connell last season, though despite winning their division, their subsequent first-round playoff exit was a bad look. With Aaron Rodgers on his way out of Green Bay (presumably, eventually), the window could be open for Minnesota to put a strangle-hold on the NFC North. Here are the Vikings’ three biggest concerns ahead of the draft: 1. Does Dalvin Cook get traded before the draft? It has been rumored for some time that Minnesota wants the 27-year-old Cook to take a pay cut, a notion which he has balked at. Several teams still need a starting-caliber running back (Buffalo, Denver, Miami, Philadelphia), and Cook could reportedly be had for a third-round pick. The big holdup with any potential trade is his $14.1 million cap hit for 2023, which not many teams are keen on adding. But matters could shift closer to the draft, if teams begin to sweat due to the thinness of the coming running backs class outside of Texas’ Bijan Robinson and Alabama’s Jahmyr Gibbs. Cook is a sure thing. 2. Is it time to draft Kirk Cousins' successor? Seemingly every major draft analyst has the Vikings selecting a quarterback at some point in April's big show. Some like the team to move up in the first round for either Kentucky's Will Levis or Florida's Anthony Richardson if those signal-callers fall outside of the top 10, while others have them using their second-rounder on Tennessee's Hendon Hooker or Stanford's Tanner McKee. Cousins will be 35 by the time the 2023-24 season starts. Despite his success in Minnesota -- four seasons with 4,000 or more passing yards, a winning record in four of five seasons -- the team has just one playoff win during his time leading the offense. It would be wise to draft a quarterback at some point and let him sit a year behind Cousins, with the hope that he could take over the reins next fall 2024. 3. Does Minnesota use its first-round pick on a WR? Adam Thielen has signed on with Carolina, leaving Justin Jefferson at the top of Minnesota’s wide receiver depth chart, followed by K.J Osborn and Jalen Reagor as second and third options, respectively. And while they aren’t exactly scrubs, neither Osborn nor Reagor has ever posted more than 60 receptions or 655 receiving yards in a season. For April's draft, Minnesota holds the No. 23 pick in the first round, but will have to wait to select again until the third round (barring trade, of course). Most of the premium wideouts figure to be off the board by the time of their second pick, meaning that if the Vikings want a Quentin Johnston or Jordan Addison to pair with Jefferson, the first round presumably will be their only opportunity. The only question then might be whether receiver (or running back or quarterback) is more important than plugging holes in the secondary or at linebacker. YARDBARKER
Makes my head ache... They have more than 3 concerns. Where to start and whats first is mine. What a flippin' mess. Better kill the Draft and work a miracle.
The Vikings have a lot of needs not just those 3 they need young linebackers,d-linemen,qb so many needs
I know this isn't Vikings related, but it is Minnesota related - we just got an offer accepted on a home in Rosemount / Apple Valley, MN. We'll be moving up there in the next two months. Really exciting stuff. Looking forward to chipping in with some Vikings talk, since I'll have to fit in with the locals
WELCOME happy you found a place that you like it can get hot in Minnesota humidity can be a trip but then it turns to nothing but cold and snow, again WELCOME to the BOLD NORTH oh when you get a chance check out US BANK Stadium it's kinda nice and the Mall of America its big and Awesome IMO check it out and Valley Fair it's really cool
The mid-west is the best. Ive been to both coasts and as far south as Alabama when my dad was alive. Nothing compares, IMO, to the lifestyle and peoples of the mid-west. By the way - If your plan as a Bears fan is to infiltrate the Vikings and do a search and destroy mission... dont worry, they are doing a fine job all by themselves.
Vikings turned down "discount" from Kirk Cousins The Minnesota Vikings and quarterback Kirk Cousins couldn’t come to terms on a contract extension this offseason and that led to the Vikings restructuring his contract to free up cap space. The initial reporting was that the Vikings were willing to guarantee 2024 and the camp of Cousins wanted 2025 guaranteed as well. According to The Star Tribune’s Andrew Krammer, it wasn’t quite that simple. Cousins had also asked for less than what Jones had gotten from the Giants, which would have been a discount based on the market. “I had also heard that he wasn’t asking for $40 [million],” said Krammer. “He wasn’t asking for that much, in terms of what Daniel Jones got, who is obviously much younger but much less accomplished. Cousins’ camp was kind of surprised I guess, from what I heard, at the Vikings not jumping or at least accepting what they were asking for.” That is new information and it speaks volumes about the Vikings truly wanting flexibility, something that fully guaranteeing 2024 and 2025 doesn’t give them. It also is another signal that the Vikings are invested in the idea of potentially bringing in a rookie quarterback and gaining that cap space. In 2023 and 2024, they would have a hefty amount committed to the quarterback position, but 2025 and 2026 would have in the neighborhood of $8-10 million on the salary cap, plus what you would pay a backup. That’s the “cheat code” that recent teams making the Super Bowl have used to load up the roster for a potential title run. VIKINGSWIRE
The Vikings just can't escape being mediocre how come they can't take the step up to being elite, the Wilfs must be satisfied with this the Vikings Nation deserves better than this!
I very much appreciate the welcome. After 30+ years in Florida, where it's 95 today and high humidity / UV as always, I don't think Minnesota's heat / humidity will be too much for us. The cold... well, I've gotta break my Florida-grown family in. Everyone has been nothing but nice to us, so far. The scheduler at the inspection company was on the phone, and her son's puppy scratched her hard enough to make her bleed, and all she did was say, "I'm so sorry for the interruption". My family is from Chicago, but I'm used to the way people treat each other in FLA, which is not always as great. Vikings are still leagues better than the Bears right now. Excited to talk NFC North football with locals, for once! Enough Dolphins and New England hate for me.
Well with everybody in the NFC North division games are a rough añd tumble affair the Bears are the Vikings nightmare Lions are ĵust damn tough it's never easy with them Packers can be tough also then there's the Vikings frustration Big Time it's like there scared to be elite be prepared to be frustrated the NFC North was tormented by the Aaron Rodgers clown show!
I think the Wilfs have seen enough of mediocre to complete bust QB's in Minnesota. I and the Vikings were both born in 1961 and the Vikings have had 1 'franchise' QB in that span. The writing is already on the wall for Kirk cousins. Kirk offered to restructure at a price cheaper than Daniel Jnes and the Vikings brass blew that off, so its clear to me that the 2023 season is Kirk's last in Minnesota. In my opinion, the Vikings are going to do their due diligence in somehow finding the future franchise QB and thats going to be tough with a 23rd 1st round pick, they are really going to have to pull some tricks outa their sleeves. One particular prospect that has been mentioned often in Minnesota is Kentucky's Will Levis. I like the idea of going after him personally, but how is the big question. Something tells me, a gut feeling, they are preparing to trade up and give him a shot. If not Levis, Richardson comes to mind... Im a firm believer for no other reason than his raw ability, that if he were to be mentored for a season he might be the guy that could be the 'diamond in the rough' QB we have been looking for... Levis isnt so raw in my opinion and probably be the quicker learner/adaptor, but would probably demand more attention to acquire. If the Vikings do nothing but land a QB, maybe a WR or CB after... they will have done good. If the Vikings dont find a franchise QB, Im afraid we will be stuck in mediocracy for a long time, maybe forever. When it comes to trading for an available already battle tested vet, i dont really see one i like or think would be the future. Some are pointing at Lamar Jackson, a Trey Lance maybe, things like that, but i dont think so, just too risky. Id like to see the Vikings start from scratch with a young gunslinger prospect who can come in and save the day. _______ __________________ Curious to what others on this site think, especially, Tim.. @Campbell We as Vikings fans have been waiting for 'that guy' at QB who can lead this team to a SB... seems like we have had some good teams in the past, even recently, but the field generals have been shotty in prime time and playoffs. Im leaning heavy on Kwesi and company to get this job done.
I too have had enough of so so qb Lamar Jackson seems like a Neverending Headache don't care how good he has been, who's going throw to Justin Jefferson who is coming into his prime whether it's Will Levis or Trey Lance or somebody else something has to done to much talent to be stuck a mobile QB is a must! ñot a running QB someone that can move around the pocket
At this time every QB is on the table why not take a look at Herndon Hooker and whatever QB they get ĥope he's tough and durable like Capt Kirk cause the guy was TOUGH
