Peterson is going to be a hard decision. He's very much coveted throughout the NFL and I dont think the Vikings want to get rid of him, per say, but they are going to have to cut loose a few vets, because they are over the cap as it stands.

Drafting a CB in this years draft looks like a no-brainer and there should be plenty to pick from... younger and faster with a skill-set is whats needed for sure.

Also, the Vikings have a couple youngsters waiting to come back next season from injury also. Bynum looks like the real deal also.

This is a tough decision for the Minnesota Vikings he still got game and he got the veteran leadership to help the young guys

Just to clarify - With Peterson being a FA he isnt coming back (imo)... I doubt thats even possible. Vikings will have to draft the position as well as deal with the already rostered players.

And who knows, they may even target a QB... I think they better.

Koc and Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah looks like there in full rebuild mode, there is going to be a lot painful cuts for the Vikings Younger and Faster is the name of game now

They, the Vikings are only a few pieces away. I hope they land a DC that can take them to the top. I believe in this team, look what they did with one of the worst defenses, its very impressive.

If only they had a defense it really HURT them cause your right the Offense was very impressive

After some thought on this up-coming draft... The Vikings might surprise a few and go DT. I think a good interior lineman would be ideal.

The Panthers have announced that the franchise’s new defensive coordinator is former Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

Well hell. The Vikings are down to Brian Flores... things arnt looking to well right now as he has an interview scheduled with the Cards, I believe. Coaches must be looking at that defense and thinking, no way, man!

I was thinking that way also it's like there advoing the Vikings DC job like the Blubonic Plague, I will be in shock if Brian Flores is the Vikings DC the Cardinals HC job is starering him in the face..It’s the Vikings they will find someone that's totally unexpected

Looking like the last man standing... Mike Pettine might just land the gig and Im not sure I like that. Flores has a second interview with the Cards coming up and an interview with the Broncos, so its looking pretty grim. Mike Pettine, by the way... overseen the crap-show last year and stood there and allowed this mess to continue. Not a happy Vikings fan at the moment.

Sure hope the Vikings have a plan B, C or LMNOP... this is crazy!

Time to flip the script to get younger and faster, now this will be a test to see if Koc is the real deal and if Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah is good at his job and no more of this running it back time to push ahead

I just hope that Ty Chandler is not lnjury prone

That's good they a DC but I have one question Mike Kafka or Kaifa? ( sp ) is the HC I thought Brian Flores was going to be the Cardinals next HC twitter was funny especially the one by Trent Williams when he said there's no fixing the Vikings Defense sounds like bitter grapes cause you and 49ers lost to Eagles the Vikings Defense doesn't have to be all that and a bag of chips I keep saying that laughing get them back to playing descent Defense it just a first step

I know the Vikings need help at cornerback but they better git real here Thielen is an old veteran pick a stud wr or find good FA wr JJ needs some help, Hockensen ( sp ) is a tough guy who is the best linebackers they can get cb is important after the last season the linebackers seemed so slow

Vikings, Adam Thielen 'Working Through Some Stuff' With WR's Contract

Thielen wants to finish his career in Minnesota, but he also understands the business of the NFL.

Will Adam Thielen be back with the Vikings in 2023? The two-time Pro Bowler and Minnesota native is an all-time underdog story who will go into the franchise's Ring of Honor someday, but his age, declining production, and contract status create some uncertainty around his future.

Thielen turns 33 in August. He's no longer the player he was during his Pro Bowl seasons of 2017 and '18, when he recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. Last season, Thielen played all 17 games and caught 70 passes for 716 yards and six touchdowns. He has become much more of a complementary possession receiver alongside Justin Jefferson, with just one 100-yard outing in his last 35 games.

Notably, Thielen has a contract that doesn't match that production. His cap hit in 2023 is just shy of $20 million, which ranks second on the Vikings and 13th among all receivers. Minnesota can't trade or cut him this offseason without taking on a significant dead cap charge (roughly $13.5 million), but it makes sense that they would try to work something out with Thielen's camp to lower that cap hit.

"We’re working through some stuff because I got a big cap hit and my contract fully guarantees on (March 17th)," Thielen said on The Pat McAfee Show. "They’re gonna try to do something, so we’ll see. We’re in the middle (of those conversations)."

Thielen seems like the kind of player who may be open to taking a pay cut to remain with the Vikings. He's from Minnesota, grew up a Vikings fan, went to college in the state, and has spent his entire ten-year NFL career with the franchise. He wants to win a Super Bowl with this team, and taking a pay cut could be a small step to help make that happen.

But at the same time, he has pride in his abilities and wants to show that he still has gas left in the tank.

"I feel great," Thielen said on ESPN's First Take. "I want to be able to help a team and show them that I can play at a high level to help them win football games. Will that be in Minnesota? I don’t know. I hope so. I hope to retire a Minnesota Viking. This is also a business. I also, again, want my opportunity to show that I can play at a high level, so we’ll see what happens."

Thielen can still bring plenty of value to an NFL offense. He has great hands, he can move the chains at the short and intermediate levels, and he's quite the weapon in the red zone because of his experience and his knowledge of spacing and leverage. Since 2020, only Davante Adams, Mike Evans, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill have more receiving touchdowns than Thielen's 30, although only 6 of those came last season.

With that said, a $20 million cap hit is quite steep for an aging possession receiver and red zone weapon. Thielen has two more years on his current contract — his cap hit goes up to $21.6 million in 2024.

As such, it's not surprising that the Vikings and Thielen's camp are discussing possibilities for reworking his deal. We'll see what ends up happening.
