Danielle Hunter feels great after two “pretty unfortunate” years Danielle Hunter was the subject of trade talk until restructuring his contract and receiving a vote of confidence from new General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. The Vikings edge rusher missed all of 2020 with a neck injury, and he played only seven games in 2021 before tearing a pectoral muscle. After returning to work with Rischad Whitfield, “The Footwork King,” on Wednesday in Houston, Hunter said he is fully healthy again. “I feel great,” Hunter said, via KPRC-TV. “The last two years were pretty unfortunate, but I just got to stay positive and have positive people around me. My family’s been there, coaches have been there. So I’m ready to go this season.” If Hunter is healthy, and new addition Za'Darius Smith is healthy, look out. The Vikings will have one of the top pass rushing duos in the NFL. But it’s a big “IF.” Smith played only one regular-season game and one playoff game last season because of a back injury. Hunter has played 85 career games and totaled 60.5 sacks, 90 quarterback hits and six forced fumbles. Smith has played 91 career games and totaled 44.5 sacks, 112 quarterback hits and eight forced fumbles. “I see him every year with the Packers,” Hunter said. “He goes against our quarterback and sometimes I just know what he’s going to bring to the table before he even gets out there. So it will be a good combo between us and all the defensive linemen we have.” PFT
Chandon Sullivan signing with Vikings The Vikings are adding a defensive back who has plenty of familiarity with the NFC North. Cornerback Chandon Sullivan is signing with Minnesota, according to agency Katz Brothers Sports. Sullivan took a visit with Minnesota this week. He spent the last three years with the Packers appearing in all 49 regular-season games. In 2021, he played 17 contests with 10 starts, recording three interceptions and four passes defensed. He was on the field for 77 percent of Green Bay’s defensive snaps. Sullivan entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Eagles in 2018. He was waived in the 2019 offseason and signed with the Packers. Overall, Sullivan has played 54 games with 21 starts. He’s caught five picks, forced one fumble, and recorded 16 passes defensed. PFT
Vikings sign Jesse Davis Veteran offensive lineman Jesse Davis is heading to Minnesota. Davis has signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Vikings, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. Davis gets a $1.5 million signing bonus, $1.25 million base salary, $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses and $50,000 workout bonus. The Vikings view Davis as their likely starting right guard this season. Davis started 72 games over the last five seasons for the Dolphins, who cut him last week. PFT
Vikings sign Nate Hairston, Tye Smith The Vikings added a pair of cornerbacks to their roster on Monday. Nate Hairston agreed to a contract with the team after a visit earlier in the day and the team also re-signed Tye Smith. Guard Jesse Davis signed with the team in their non-cornerback roster move of the day. Hairston was a 2017 fifth-round pick of the Colts who spent two years in Indianapolis before moving on to the Jets in 2019. He played 13 games for the Jets and then landed with the Broncos during the 2020 season. He played 16 games and made one start for Denver last season. Hairston has 104 tackles, two interceptions, two sacks, and 13 passes defensed in 59 career games. Smith was elevated from the practice squad five times during the 2021 season. He had six tackles in those appearances. PFT
But no center maybe they will find one in the draft hope they will find away to sign Patrick Peterson,I hope the Packers do not find away to sign DK Metcalf do not want him in the NFC North and is Dakota Dozier a Bear now? If so lol
Center is an issue. The only rostered centers for the Vikings at the moment are Bradburry and Schlottmann. Not sure what their gameplan is, but they could always draft an O-line guy and maybe move somebody over. Bradburry in a trade might be another option, I dont know. Oh wait... we dont need a center. Cousins will simply hike the ball to himself ???
I just wonder can Kyle Hinton play center why don't they see if he can maybe he can or not let's see if he can cut it
Without all of mess and there was quite a lot of it's time to retire as a Vikings you were one of a kind rb,football is a young man's game and your not young anymore time to hang em up just my opinion
CB Patrick Peterson announces he's staying with Vikings on one-year deal Patrick Peterson is staying in Minnesota. The three-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback is signing a one-year deal with the Vikings, Peterson announced on theAll Things Covered podcast. The team later announced it had agreed to terms with Peterson on a new contract. Peterson will get a $4 million base value with $3.5 million guaranteed, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Peterson also has $1 million available in incentives. The 31-year-old Peterson had taken his time weighing his options, engaging in talks with a number of teams including the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but as Peterson said Wednesday, he always wanted to remain in Minnesota. It was a matter of new Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah presenting Peterson with an offer, and once that was done, it was a simple decision for Peterson. Peterson moved from Arizona to Minnesota in 2021 and played in 13 games (13 starts) for the Vikings, recording 45 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception. Peterson enjoyed a bounce-back season, producing a better Pro Football Focus defensive grade in 2021 than he did with the Cardinals in 2020. At his peak, Peterson was among the best corners in the NFL, earning eight straight Pro Bowl selections from his rookie year of 2011 all the way through 2018. His age started to show in his final season in Arizona, though, as Peterson wasn't quite as quick as he'd been in his earlier years, and he eventually sought a new chapter elsewhere following the 2020 season. Peterson found a good fit in Minnesota. It's also a place where he can offer more than just reliable performance on the field. Peterson's wisdom and experience is valuable to a Vikings defense that includes Cameron Dantzler and the newly signed Chandon Sullivan, is getting younger and is looking to add another corner with potential, possibly via the upcoming draft. The future Pro Football Hall of Famer told co-host and former NFL defensive back Bryant McFadden he wants to play three more seasons (including 2022), which could mean moving to another team in the future before calling it a career. But for 2022, he'll remain a Viking. NFL.com
Glad they sign him like the veteran leadership just like Zimmer when he signed up Terrance Newman,to keep young players from falling apart
Vikings agree to terms with Chris Reed The Vikings are adding another offensive lineman to the roster. The team announced on Friday that they have reached agreement on a contract with guard Chris Reed. The team did not announce the terms of that agreement. Reed played 14 games and made six starts for the Colts last season. He started 14 games for the Panthers in 2020 and has made 29 starts in his 61 appearances for Indianapolis, Carolina, Miami, and Jacksonville. Reed went to Minnesota State, so the move to the Vikings brings him back to a familiar state. It also reunites him with college teammate Adam Thielen, who will be back at receiver for the Vikings for his ninth NFL season. PFT
Yep. O'Connell said he wants a dependable, 1st rate front 5 that he doesnt have to worry about, but at the same time he wants depth at the O-line. I think he's doing a good job at that. He is looking at Bradburry as if he has a clean slate and he's for right now the #1 center on the depth chart, but I would like to see that addressed a bit further.
If KOC can get the Vikings to turn the corner something I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR the Vikings to take there game up to the ELITE LEVEL
