Well then the Vikings might as well trade Kellen Mond to a team that will give him! a chance to play ( sigh ) looks like Dynamic Duo is going be in play Cousin and Mannion
230 million wow how much money does this guy need,he's got to win now I'm watching TV Vikings vent line and SKOR North I don't understand this no trade clause seems like a real bad move!!!! to me
Vikings will release Michael Pierce For Michael Pierce‘s first year in Minnesota, he opted out due to the pandemic. In his second year, he started eight of 17 games. There will be no third season. Pierce has declined to take a pay cut and, per multiple reports, the Vikings will release him. Via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the move will clear $6.235 million in cap space. The Vikings reportedly tried to trade Pierce, who spent his first four seasons with the Ravens. Until he’s officially released, he could still be traded. He has a base salary of $7.9 million for 2022. On Monday, the Vikings agreed to terms with Bills defensive tackle Harrison Phillips on a three-year, $19.5 million deal. The Vikings are in the process of reworking their defense from a base 4-3 to a base 3-4, an alignment the Vikings haven’t used in a long, long time. PFT
Not a big fan of a 3-4, defense... but if they and it sounds like they are going with it... solid play from the front 3 is essential. Hence the Phillips pickup. Going to be interesting to see this 'new' Vikings schemes this up-coming season.
Michael Pierce was a bust in Minnesota for someone that big a run stopper HE WAS NOT hope Harrison Phillips works out in the 3-4 defense
Kirk Cousins was “confident” he was going to remain with Vikings With Kirk Cousins scheduled to enter the final year of his contract with a fully guaranteed salary of $35 million and a cap number of $45 million, the quarterback’s future appeared in doubt. The uncertainty prompted multiple teams to reach out to the Vikings about a possible trade. Cousins, though, was certain he would return to Minnesota in 2022, and he hoped for longer. He said on KFAN Radio that if he was a “betting man” he would have bet he would remain with the Vikings. “I was very confident that I was going to be a Minnesota Viking,” Cousins said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. Cousins ended up signing a one-year extension through the 2023 season, and it includes a no-trade clause. “It was a positive back and forth over a few days,” Cousins said on KFAN. “(General Manager) Kwesi (Adofo-Mensah) was outstanding. Was really strong communicating to me. Was up front.” PFT
The Vikings are shopping edge rusher Danielle Hunter as the clock ticks toward Sunday when he is owed an $18 million roster bonus, Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports. Hunter has a $25.83 million cap number for 2022, and the team needs to clear space to make their new deals official. The team could convert Hunter’s roster bonus to a signing bonus to save $13.5 million on their cap. Hunter, 27, has played only seven games the past two seasons because of injuries. A torn pectoral muscle ended his 2021 season after seven games. He had six sacks. Hunter has played 85 career games and totaled 60.5 sacks, 90 quarterback hits and six forced fumbles. PFT
EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced they have agreed to terms with guard/center Austin Schlottmann. The former Denver Bronco (2018-21) is joining Minnesota with 42 career games of NFL experience, including seven starts since first taking the field in 2019. Schlottmann will join a room led by new offensive line coach Chris Kuper and assistant offensive line coach Justin Rascati, reuniting with the former Broncos assistants who have coached him the past three seasons.
I'm in state of confusion the faces might be different but it seems like the same old same old but its still too early to say
Adam Thielen is staying in Minnesota. The veteran receiver has agreed to restructure his contract in order to help the Vikings clear salary cap space. The restructured deal includes $18 million in guaranteed money, a raise to $14.4 million in 2022 and a void year tacked onto the end of the contract, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Friday. Thielen currently is under contract through 2024. The 31-year-old Thielen has spent his entire career in Minnesota since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2013, but salary concerns and the arrival of a new regime made his future uncertain. He's largely remained the same receiver he's been for most of his career, although he did record the lowest yards-per-catch average of his career in 2021. Still, a receiving duo of Justin Jefferson and Thielen is difficult to break up, even for a new leadership team with its own ideas for the future of the franchise. Thielen appears set to spend the next few years in the only place he's ever known in the NFL.
New Vikings LB Jordan Hicks Fired Up to Play with Eric Kendricks EAGAN, Minn. — Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell had plenty of success in his previous gig as the Rams offensive coordinator. But there was one player from O'Connell's time in the NFC West that he dreaded going against. O'Connell welcomed that linebacker to his own team Thursday, as Minnesota introduced Jordan Hicks as one of its first free agent signees in 2022. And yes, O'Connell is quite thrilled that Hicks is now on his defense and that he doesn't have to worry about game planning for him. "That's real about playing against him," O'Connell said. "It goes even further back than the last three years with him being in Arizona. Incredibly productive in his time there but also in Philadelphia before that, as well. People don't talk enough about consistent production and consistent production from leadership on your team." Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah recalled O'Connell's reaction when the Vikings found out Hicks was coming to Minnesota. "We were in the middle of a meeting when we found out," Adofo-Mensah said. "We literally stopped the meeting, and KO turned to me and said, 'I didn't like playing against that guy.' Sometimes it's really not more difficult than that." Hicks, who spent the past three seasons in Arizona, said being able to disrupt a game — or an opposing coach's game plan — is something he prides himself on. "I want to be disruptive, I want to be consistent, I want to be somebody that has to be game planned for," Hicks said. "So, to hear that compliment was validating, but it's not the end, right? "I feel like I have a lot more left in the tank and a lot more good football ahead," Hicks added. "It starts day one of the offseason, so that's the mentality, get in the lab and we're all starting from scratch, right? New coaching staff, so it's exciting times." The 29-year-old Hicks figures to slot in as starter at inside linebacker next to Eric Kendricks in Minnesota's new 3-4 defensive scheme. VIKINGS.com
I think the fun is coming back to Minnesota! Im liking the up-grades and changes on defense, new schemes, new look, new staff... its all about a fresh new start without having to blow the team up.
The Minnesota Vikings are hosting former Packers pass rusher Za'Darius Smith on Monday, Pelissero reported. Smith was in agreement to sign with the Ravens last week, but the deal fell apart.
A Danielle Hunter and Za'Darius Smith Combo would be very nice and no to Clowney he seems like a headache cause he's always changing teams
Can the Vikings trade Shaun Mannion and Kellen Mond and get a center then in upcoming draft get your qb for future in the draft?
Za’Darius Smith agrees to terms with Vikings Za'Darius Smith left the Ravens at the altar when he backed out of the four-year, $35 million agreement he had with the team. Now, he’s not leaving the NFC North. After visiting with the Vikings on Monday, Smith has agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal that’s worth up to $47 million, according to multiple reports. So, Smith goes from making $8.75 million a year to $14 million. And he gets to face his former team in the Packers two times a year. Smith missed nearly all of the 2021 season due to a back injury. But he did return for Green Bay’s playoff loss to San Francisco. He was a Pro Bowler in 2019 and 2020, recording 13.5 sacks in 2019 and 12.5 sacks in 2020. Smith spent his first four seasons with the Ravens, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 draft. PFT
