Report: Vikings’ Dakota Dozier hospitalized with COVID-19 Vikings guard Dakota Dozier, who was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list last week, got sick enough that he had to be hospitalized last night. Dozier remains in the hospital in stable condition, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said the team is taking every precaution to prevent an outbreak within the facility. “It’s serious stuff, so, I don’t know,” Zimmer said. “Like 29 guys are getting tested because of close contact, including myself. Just do what we do.” The Vikings currently have five players on the COVID-19 reserve list: Dozier, center Garrett Bradbury, safety Harrison Smith, linebacker Ryan Connelly and offensive tackle Timon Parris.
NFL: Dalvin Cook’s legal situation will be monitored, his status will be unchanged The civil allegations of assault and battery against Vikings running back Dalvin Cook have landed on the NFL’s radar screen. For now, the NFL will be taking no action as to Cook. “The matter will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT via email. “We will continue to monitor developments but there’s no change to his status as this is a civil complaint.” Paid leave usually isn’t on the table for civil allegations. Here, no criminal complaints have been filed by either party — and allegations will be made by and against Cook. Absent criminal charges or other developments, the NFL won’t be doing anything as to Cook as the litigation unfolds. Given the speed (or lack thereof) with which civil litigation unfolds, the league likely won’t be in position to impose discipline on Cook until 2023, at the earliest. PFT
Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook allegedly assaulted, battered and falsely imprisoned former girlfriend Gracelyn Trimble, according to a lawsuit Trimble filed Tuesday in the Dakota County District Court (Minn.). Cook's attorney, David Valentini, responded to the lawsuit's filing with a statement Tuesday, obtained by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, in which he states that Trimble broke into Cook's home on Nov. 19, 2020, and assaulted Cook along with two house guests. Police were never called regarding the incident and no charges have been made. The Vikings released the following statement, obtained by Pelissero. "We recently received notification from Dalvin Cook's legal representative regarding a situation that occurred between Dalvin and a female acquaintance in November 2020 and led to an ongoing dispute between the parties," the statement read. "Upon learning of this, we immediately notified the NFL. We are in the process of gathering more information and will withhold further comment at this time." The NFL also released a statement: "The matter will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy. We will continue to monitor developments but there's no change to (Cook's) status." Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Wednesday that he did not have an update on Cook's status for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but said the RB will practice Wednesday. Per the lawsuit obtained by NFL Media, Trimble and Cook met "sometime around 2018" in Florida, where Trimble was serving in the Army. After that meeting, the two proceeded to engage in an on-again-off-again relationship "which involved traveling between Florida and Minnesota." The three counts in the lawsuit are for battery, assault and false imprisonment. According to the lawsuit, Trimble alleges in the battery count that Cook "intentionally struck" Trimble multiple times on Nov. 19-20, 2020, as well as the week prior to the incident. The assault count alleges that Cook intended to cause "imminent apprehension of offensive contact when he repeatedly threatened to kill her while pointing a gun at her head." In the final count of false imprisonment, Trimble alleges Cook "intended to confine" her when he picked her up and would not let her leave. According to Trimble's lawsuit, she flew to Minnesota on Nov. 19. Trimble had a garage door opener to Cook's residence already with her and upon entering his garage "she grabbed the mace she stored in the garage to defend herself as she feared what Cook may do while she packed up her belongings and removed them from the residence." Trimble alleges that after asking for Cook's help in gathering her items, Cook grabbed her and slammed her down, "causing her lower forehead and the bridge of her nose to bust open." Valentini's statement alleges that Trimble entered Cook's home "with a stolen garage door opener" and proceeded to punch Cook and spray him and the house guests with mace. Trimble's suit reads that she attempted to spray Cook with mace to defend herself, but was overpowered, the Tribune reported via the lawsuit. According to Valentini's release, Trimble forced Cook and his guests "at gunpoint, to remain in his residence for the next several hours." The lawsuit and Valentini's release each reference Cook having multiple guests at his home at the time of the incident. Photos included within the lawsuit show Trimble's face bloodied. There is also a screen shot of a social media conversation in which Trimble writes, "Dalvin My [sic] face is so messed up I probably won't even get to go see my family for thanksgiving [sic]." Cook replied: "And I'm sorry for that! But the situation just got out of hand from the jump." The 26-year-old Cook was selected in the second round of the 2017 draft by the Vikings and has been voted to two Pro Bowls during his five-season career. NFL.com
Is Mike Zimmer trying to wreck the Vikings sure does seem like it,the Dalvin Cook situation just seems like a she said he said type of thing who knows what really went on this was in November 2020 its 2021 wow he threatened to kill her that's serious in 2020 why would she wait till 2021 to bring that up?
EAGAN, Minn. — Kene Nwangwu's second chance to return a kickoff in an NFL game made a resounding first impression. The rookie running back who was active for his second game ever returned the opening kickoff of the second half 98 yards for a touchdown Sunday in Minnesota's 34-31 overtime loss at Baltimore. It was the second kickoff return of the day for Nwangwu, who started his day (and career) with a 23-yard return of Baltimore's first kickoff. Nwangwu's kickoff return touchdown was the first by a Vikings player since Cordarrelle Patterson in 2016, and he is the first rookie to do so since Patterson in 2013. He joined Steve Smith (Carolina), Randall Cobb (Green Bay), David Johnson (Arizona) and Darrick Vaughn (Atlanta) as the only NFL players since 2000 to score on one of their first two career kickoff returns. The fourth-round pick had been delayed from hitting the field because of a knee injury he suffered in Minnesota's preseason opener. A native of Frisco, Texas, Nwangwu made his NFL debut against his hometown team in Week 8, but Dallas' Greg Zuerlein recorded touchbacks on all of his kicks at U.S. Bank Stadium. Nwangwu also converted a fourth-and-2 by gaining 9 on a fake punt. It was the first fake punt attempted by Minnesota since 2017 and first conversion since 2016. He is the first Vikings return specialist to win NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor since Marcus Sherels (punt) for his Week 8 performance at Chicago in 2015. VIKINGS.com
If he can be dependable like Marcus Sherels that's a good thing the Vikings hadn't a kick off returning player like Kene Nwangwu in a long while the guy is fast
This style of football the Vikings are playing I believe is driving Mike Zimmer crazy,he's toast and I have no trust in Mike Zimmer that he can get the job done they got a test against the 49ers cause they are playing good football
I like the opening up of the offense , to be honest. The deep-threat has helped keep defenses honest in the run game. Thielen and Jefferson were consistently wide open Sunday vs the Packers... they kept Cook loose also by pounding the football. Overall the offense is taking shape I think. Cousins is shredding too... its fun!
Mike Zimmer wants Kirk Cousins to keep going for the jugular The Vikings have moved into playoff position in the NFC after back-to-back wins that have been fueled in part by quarterback Kirk Cousins taking more shots down the field. In Sunday’s 34-31 win over the Packers, Cousins posted his highest average yards per attempt of the season while going 24-of-35 for 341 yards and three touchdowns. After the game, Cousins wasn’t totally thrilled about his performance. He said he thought he had a handful of throws that were too aggressive. One apparent interception by safety Darnell Savage was wiped out by a roughing the passer penalty and another turned into an incompletion when replays showed Savage failed to control the ball. The game may have turned out differently if just one of those stayed on the board, but head coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that he doesn’t want Cousins to change his approach. “I want [Cousins] to keep doing it like he’s doing it,” Zimmer said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “He can’t second-guess himself. If he throws an interception, that’s life. But you keep going for the jugular. It’s going to open up a lot of other areas in the running game. It’s going to open up other players.” The Vikings will be in Santa Clara to face the 49ers in a matchup of 5-5 teams this week and it sounds like the Niners should expect to see a lot of Cousins once they hit the field. Hey this going for jugular sounds so unlike Mike Zimmer, am I reading this right Capt Kirk thought he was to aggressive don't be afraid to go for it and just be careful of the dumb ass throws and don't be scared of winning GO VIKINGS
Could be just click bait the Vikings are trying to get there house in order a rift between Justin Jefferson and Kirk Cousin is the type of drama they really don't need
Everson Griffen: I am bipolar, I will be an advocate for mental health Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen announced that he is bipolar in an Instagram post on Friday night. Griffen was taken to a mental health facility last week after an incident at his house that began when he called 911 about an intruder in his house and said that he had fired a gun without injuring anyone. Griffen also made concerning posts on his social media accounts and refused to leave the house when law enforcement officers failed to find any signs of an intruder when they responded to his call. Those officers worked with mental health professionals from the Vikings to get Griffen to eventually leave his house and get help. He wrote on Friday that he wants to be an advocate for mental health in the future. “It’s true I am bipolar. I will embrace it and I will be an advocate for mental health,” Griffen wrote. “I been running from it a long time. I’m not ashamed of it anymore. It all started when my mother passed away. Went into a dark place, thought I was great for many years. I promise this time I will do everything the experts say and my wife. I love my family and I miss my friends. Thank you for all the love and support, but most of all thank you for all the prayers.” Griffen was placed on the non-football illness list before the Vikings played the 49ers last Sunday and will be on it for two more games before becoming eligible to return to action. Are the Vikings really going to start Garrett Bradbury at center and move Mason Cole right guard and Oli Odoh is starting why?, why don't the Vikings leave Mason Cole at center and play Garrett Bradbury at right guard to see if he can handle it
What's going on Mike Zimmer your defense is awful this is mess and Capt Kirk is not a leader of men I'm just tired do you really care about the playoffs now? MIKE ZIMMER
The Vikings have not had linebacker Anthony Barr in the lineup very often over the last two seasons, but he said he’ll be there against the Steelers on Thursday. Barr missed Sunday’s loss to the Lions with a hamstring injury and told reporters on Tuesday that he will play this week. Barr missed five games with knee injuries earlier in the season and he missed the final 14 games of last season with a pectoral injury, so he’s played in just 8 of the team’s last 28 games. “It sucks, to put it simply,” Barr said, via Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I feel like I was playing pretty good up until I tweaked [the hamstring] against the 49ers. So it’s one of those things where I have to figure out how to stay healthy and get back on the field.” Barr was listed as limited on Monday’s estimated practice report. He has 32 tackles, a half-sack, an interception, and a fumble recovery in his six appearances this season. PFT
