Why does Rick Spielman it seems like this trade down philosophy it's getting old the Vikings need a new mindset I do not believe Mike Zimmer can do it

He does well tho... last season was cool.

I think the philosophy is adding assets, getting more for whats already there.

What im concerned about is; Do they release Rudolph? He said he wont take a pay-cut and the Vikings could save 5.1M by letting him walk.

Defense is still a huge concern also, but with a trade down, he might be able to pull off a '2 fer 1' type deal.

IMO the Vikings kinda wasted Kyle Rudolph it seemed like he never a played major role in the offensive gameplan even though he's very good, the Vikings might trade him cause of Irv Smith jr and Conklin

I see Jimmy G as a back-up qb you can't depend on him cause he's injury prone he would be a nice replacement for Shaun Mannion and Vikings need to draft a QB

Mike Zimmer on Kirk Cousins: “Kirk’s our guy”

Some think that San Francisco’s search for a new signal-caller could result in a trade for Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, given Cousins’ Washington connection to Kyle Shanahan.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer sounds disinclined to consider such a deal.

“Kirk’s our guy,” Zimmer said Friday on NFL Network. “You know, he had a terrific year this year. We were fourth in the league on offense. We have to get better on defense — we had a lot of injuries and young guys — that’s my job to get it fixed.”

Cousins’ contract pays a reasonable base salary of $21 million in 2021. As of March 19, however, Cousins’ 2022 base salary of $35 million becomes fully guaranteed.

That could make it wise for the Vikings to extend Cousins’ contract. Last year, as Cousins was entering the final year of his original three-year contract, the Vikings and Cousins extended the deal by two seasons.

Extension or not, the Vikings need Cousins in 2021. Without him, it will be very difficult for the offense to perform at a level necessary to win enough games to avoid Zimmer potentially being on the hot seat after the coming season.

I can dig this. Kirk was ok and the offense was ok... imagine if the Vikings defense was ok, they may have been a real threat.

as of right now the Vikings need Capt Kirk cause they got nobody else a free agent qb is a must make Shaun Mannion a part of qb coaching staff to keep him ( Kirk Cousins) calm it's time change this run first mentality

Herbert had a record setting rookie season for a QB, that’s why Jefferson didn’t win it

Justin Herbert had a very good year no doubt but Justin Jefferson was OUTSTANDING but I must confess I'm looking at though a Purple Cloud and a homer point of view

The Vikings are adding another kicker to their offseason roster.

Agent Brett Tessler announced that his client Greg Joseph is signing with the team. They already have Dan Bailey on hand.

Joseph spent the season on the Buccaneers practice squad. He was called up to the active roster for one game and did not play.

His last regular season action came in two games for the Titans in 2019. He didn’t try any field goals and made all nine extra points he tried. He was 17-of-20 on field goals and 25-of-29 on extra points in 14 games with the Browns in 2018.

Bailey had a poor 2020 season. He was 15-of-22 on field goals and 37-of-43 on extra points, but Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer consistently backed him throughout the campaign. Bailey has $1.8 million of his salary guaranteed if he’s on the team three days into the league year.

Report: Vikings are hiring Paul Guenther as senior defensive assistant

After seven seasons apart, Mike Zimmer is reuniting with one of his former assistant coaches.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report the Vikings are hiring Paul Guenther as a senior defensive assistant. Guenther was most recently the Raiders’ defensive coordinator, but coached under Zimmer in Cincinnati from 2008-2013. When Zimmer became Minnesota’s head coach in 2014, Guenther took over as the Bengals’ defensive coordinator.

Guenther was a defensive assistant, assistant linebackers coach, and linebackers coach under Zimmer with the Bengals.

Las Vegas fired Guenther in December after the Raiders surrendered 200 yards rushing in back-to-back games to the Jets and Colts. Head coach Jon Gruden hired Gus Bradley to replace Guenther for 2021.

I dont know, Zim is still on the 'hot seat' and the Vikings could make a move anytime this Summer.

Paul and Mike are friends, so thats the deal there.

Replacing Kubiak is #1 right now, i would think.

The Vikings lost last year’s defensive backs coach to an SEC school and they found his replacement at another of the conference’s teams.

Karl Scott has been hired to work with the team’s secondary. He takes the place of Daronte Jones, who has moved on to become LSU’s defensive coordinator.

Scott spent the last three seasons as the cornerbacks coach for Alabama.

“Karl has a National Championship-level background and has coached some of the top college players in the country,” Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said in a statement. “His input in the defensive backfield and working with our developing players there will be important.”

Scott has also worked at Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, and Southeastern Louisiana.

Karl Scott worked with the Alabama secondary which has been pretty good sounds like this could be good news for Gladney and Dantzler could be a good hire here

Good to hear it's way past time for Rick and Mike to get serious about fixing the O-line and get a new coach for the O-line,the offense was pretty good it's all about having a shut down Defense now

  19. Badd_Man1 M.V.P. Vikings

This is where i do not get Mike Zimmer why James Lynch didn't get more playing time? i hope they have a pre-season to see what Kyle Hinton got and help him to get his game together where he's weak he needs to play
