It looks like defensive end Everson Griffen is angling for a return to the Vikings.

Griffen spent 10 years with the Vikings before signing a one-year deal with the Cowboys as a free agent last offseason. Griffen was traded to the Lions during the season and is now set for free agency.

In recent days, Griffen has retweeted many Vikings fans who want to see him return to the organization as well as a tweet featuring Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer talking about the need for more pass rushers. Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press asked Griffen if that indicates a desire to return to his first NFL team.

“You tell them, I said, ‘If you want it, go get it,'” Griffen said. “You can put that. . . . If you want it, come get it. That’s what I want you to say. If you want it, come get it.”

Griffen had 33 tackles, six sacks, and 14 quarterback hits in 14 overall games this season.

I hope it does happen the lack of leadership was exposed they could have used him,they still need to draft a DE the Vikings still need him to show the young players how to be a pro and he does look funny in a Lions uniform

 

Are the Vikings trying to trade Danielle Hunter for Deshaun Watson? I thought he wanted to be a Dolphin, i don't get it your best pass rusher you want to trade Really it's time to turn the page are the Wilfs happy being so so don't they want to be elite

 

I will be very pissed off if the Vikings let George Paton walk and become the Broncos GM i guess it the Vikings way to make you say WTF but Tricky Ricky is still here with his system or whatever it is CAUSE IT AIN'T WORKING!!

 

Well, we got 14 seasons out of him... good move by the Broncos.

This really sucks for the NFC North.........I hope one these teams can step up to the plate and challenge Green Bay next year.

Deshaun Watson would be a major upgrade over Capt.Kirk but I'm so afraid of Mike Zimmer ruining this guy he's stuck in the 80's and 90's,it still the same old same old in the words of Deshaun Watson somethings never change

 

Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak is expected to retire. But he hasn’t yet. Which means that the Vikings aren’t looking for a new offensive coordinator, at a time when competent offensive coordinators are being hired elsewhere.

It’s believed that, if Kubiak leaves, the Vikings will promote someone from within. The top internal candidate is believed to be quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak.

As an offensive coach recently opined, it could be a tough job to fill with a quality external candidate. Coach Mike Zimmer will be under pressure to win next year, and a bad season could result in everyone getting fired. That’s a lot of extra pressure on a new offensive coordinator.

Given the extent to which the offensive personnel has shifted toward the Kubiak scheme, it makes sense to continue to stay the course with it in 2021. Which means that it makes sense to give the job to Klint Kubiak.

If it works, great. If it doesn’t, the Vikings could be looking for a new offensive coordinator — along with a new head coach, defensive coordinator, etc. — next year at this time.

I surely hope they have a plan B... because they will look real stupid if Kubiak retires and they are stuck with someone elses hand-me-down.

 

Kubiak is a problem in that he seems very in decisive. He always wants to retire and then gets the itch to come back. He has supposedly retired like 4 different times and then winds up on another team.

 

Klint Kubiak huh we will see if can get the job done anyway looks like the PRESSURE is on at least a deep run in the playoffs SB no way with Zimmer as HC

I hope Michael Pierce can be like Akeim Hicks of the Bears one tough guy sorry if I didn't spell his name right the Vikings need a Linval Joseph type of player and Danielle Hunter comes back 100%

 

Definitely need to shore-up the defense and stop the run. Just imagine a top-ranked D with that offense... might be pretty good.

Four years ago, Gary Kubiak retired as head coach of the Broncos. As expected, Kubiak has now retired as offensive coordinator of the Vikings.

The Vikings announced the decision on Thursday.

“It’s been the honor of my lifetime to work for 36 seasons as an NFL player and coach,” Kubiak, who served as head coach of the Texans and Broncos (winning Super Bowl 50), said in a statement. “I’ve been on a football field for most of my life, and now I look forward to stepping away from the game and enjoying more time with my family and friends.”

One member of his family could be too busy to spend time with him, proving yet again the final verse of Cat’s In The Cradle. Gary has been lobbying, we’re told, for his son Klint to take over the Minnesota offense.

If it’s not Klint Kubiak, the current quarterbacks coach in Minnesota, the Vikings will need to find someone else. And with the leadership of the team arguably moving toward the hot seat for 2021, it could be hard to get an offensive coordinator with options to opt to become the key member of the coaching staff who will, or won’t, save the day.
