Per Cousins biggest fan, Spielman With the Minnesota Vikings spiraling to a 1-5 start and already selling assets, questions percolating about Kirk Cousins' future was the next obvious step. The quarterback himself noted after his latest three-INT game that he "won't finish the season" if he keeps playing poorly. General manager Rick Spielman, however, remains firmly in Cousins' corner. "You just kind of have to go back and look at the big picture," Spielman said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "But I don't think anyone has lost any faith in Kirk Cousins. I expect him to come back after the bye week and play well for us." Cousins has struggled with turnovers through the young season, tossing 10 INTs through six games after throwing just six all of 2019. "I know he's very hard on himself," Spielman said. "Some of the interceptions were not his fault. Some of them were poor decisions. But I don't have any doubt that he's going to be able to rally." Financially, the Vikings are tied to Cousins, who signed an extension this offseason that guarantees his $21 million base salary in 2021, and his 2022 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the new league year in 2021. Per Over The Cap, the Vikings would be on the hook for $41 million in dead money if they cut Cousins next year. Spielman has little choice but to believe Cousins will come out of his funk. If not, it could be someone else's issue to deal with down the road. NFL.com
It's like a nasty flashback it reminds me how he stuck by Ponder even at times I think Frazier wanted to bench him, what makes him believe that Capt Kirk can get any better he is what he is....please let him be somebody else's problem ..
The Vikings returned from their bye week by announcing a handful of roster moves, including the addition of a pair of cornerbacks to the active roster. Minnesota claimed Chris Jones off of waivers and signed Mark Fields off of their practice squad. They also designated guard Pat Elflein and linebacker Troy Dye for return from injured reserve. Jones was waived by the Lions on Saturday after appearing in one game for the team. Detroit signed him off of the Cardinals practice squad last month. Fields has appeared in one game for the Vikings this season and played one game for them last year as well. Elflein has been out since the first week of the season with a thumb injury. Dye has missed the last four games with a foot injury. NBC
I hope Chris Jones works out cause Dantler been having a tough time this is a mess it time to bite the bullet and trade Kirk Cousins he just ain't got it
Ok it's time for a change Mike Zimmer has got to go with all this trade talk going on time for a new HC and Rick Spielman got go to he's had time it's good just not good enough IMO the last time the Vikings were fun to watch were the Dennis Green Vikings
Everson Griffen has been traded by the Cowboys to the Detroit Lions was kinda hoping he would be a Minnesota Vikings again
In a odd way Mike McCarthy kinda gave the Vikings a backhanded slap by trading Everson Griffen to the Lions just my opinion
Dalvin Cook will practice Wednesday Vikings running back Dalvin Cook didn’t play in Week 6 and had a bye last week, so his groin injury has had a good chunk of time to heal up ahead of the team’s return to work. That time has allowed for enough healing that Cook is going to see how things go on the field. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said at his Wednesday press conference that the running back is going to take part in practice with the rest of the team. Zimmer added that his expectation is that Cook will be able to play against the Packers this weekend, although his history of downplaying the significance of injuries suggests it is best to wait for an idea of how Cook is feeling after ramping up his workload. Cook has 92 carries for 489 yards and seven touchdowns in his five appearances this season. He’s scored at least once in every game he’s played. NBC
Even though Diggs was a trip it's almost like he saw the sh*t storm coming cause it's a sh*t show in the land of SKOL in 2020
The 1-5 Vikings began the year with a home loss to the Packers. On Sunday, Minnesota tries to turn a lost season around by returning the favor to Green Bay at Lambeau Field. On Friday, veteran tight end and offensive captain Kyle Rudolph reflected on the first six games of 2020 during a visit to PFT PM. “I think if I had to describe this season in one word it would be ‘frustrating,'” he said. “And I would say frustrating because when you look at the body of work that we’ve had over the last six weeks here, you sit here at 1-5 but you look at the fact that we’ve played three teams that were three of the last undefeated teams. We were in each of those games lost two of them by one point.” Specifically, the Vikings lost to the 5-1 Packers, to the 5-1 Titans, and to the 5-1 Seahawks. “You are what your record says you are,” Rudolph said. “That’s the business we’re in. It’s about wins and losses. But at the same time I think we’re much better than a 1-5 football team. Thankfully for us, we had the opportunity over the bye week to evaluate things that we’ve done well. Obviously there are things that we’re doing to cause us to lose football games and we’re able to address those. If we can eliminate those and continue to do the things that we’ve done well over the last month and a half and we’ve got a chance to win football games and see where we’re at.” The narrow, disappointing loss to the Seahawks was followed by a confounding loss to the Falcons. Rudolph was asked whether defeat in Seattle contributed to the outcome a week later. “No doubt,” Rudolph said. “We’ve struggled with that big time here over the last few years. Whether it’s emotional wins — I think back to the 2017 playoffs, the 2019 playoffs. You win big games at the end, and then have a letdown the following week. Then it’s no different when you have an emotional game and you’re on the losing side. Like I said, for us we were able to kind of go back over the bye week and believe it or not for us as an offense we found nine or 10 things that we’ve top five in the league in. Then you go and figure out, ‘Why are we still 1-5?’ And you look at our turnovers and our play in the third quarter. We can’t put ourselves in those situations and beat teams week in and week out.” If it happens again and if the Vikings lose on Sunday, could Rudolph end up being traded before Tuesday’s deadline? “I joked around a couple times this week that I feel like I’ve been on the trade block for the last three years and I’m still here in Minnesota,” he said. “I love it here. I hope to finish my career here. But as you know when you’re around this business long enough, it is a business and people have to make decisions. I can’t control that. All that I can control is going out to practice and doing everything I can to prepare myself to play well against the Green Bay Packers.” Rudolph also can control how he uses his platform and influence for good. Currently, he’s auctioning several items foe the benefit of Kyle Rudolph’s End Zone at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. The End Zone gives patients and their family members a place to engage in various activities outside of their hospital rooms or in-between clinic visits. If you’d like, you can bid on a signed helmet, signed cleats, or a personalized Polaris Slingshot. You also can simply make a donation. NBC
It sounds like Kyle Rudolph has a feeling he might get traded, kinda sounds like a farewell letter very nervous about what's going to happen next
Vikings sign CB Dylan Mabin from Raiders' practice squad With the cornerback room continuing to look like a M*A*S*H unit, the Minnesota Vikings have added yet another player from an opposing practice squad. The Vikings have signed cornerback Dylan Mabin from the practice squad of the Las Vegas Raiders and added him to the 53-man roster. The Raiders signed Mabin as an undrafted free agent out of Fordham following the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent the entire 2019 season on their practice squad, and was brought back to their practice squad following the final cuts this season as well. He was brought up to the Raiders’ active roster a couple of weeks ago and played some snaps in the team’s 45-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After that, he was moved back to the practice squad. As of now, the Vikings have just three healthy cornerbacks on the roster in rookie Jeff Gladney, Kris Boyd, and Chris Jones (who the team claimed off of waivers last week). Mabin will not be available for the Vikings this week as he goes through COVID-19 protocols, but should be ready to go after this week’s game. Three of the Vikings other four cornerbacks (Cameron Dantzler, Mark Fields, and Holton Hill) have missed the first two days of practice this week, while rookie Harrison Hand has been limited with a hamstring issue. The Vikings continue to make moves at cornerback. Hopefully some of their injured players can get healthy sooner rather than later. (Daily Norseman)
Zach Wilson out of BYU he looks pretty good but he needs a little seasoning IMO if the Vikings were to draft him Capt Kirk has to go so he does not get ruined
