This 2020 season looks like it's going to be interesting for every team back up players get a chance to start, some starter's just might lose there job Mike Zimmer the spot light is on you now to coach your azz off!
I just wonder what happens if a whole team has to cancel out because of an entire position being depleted from Covid-19. Do they forfeit that week and will it count against them? This is really messed up.
I don't know never thought about it what would happen I really have no idea have the NFL brass even thought about it it's a damn good question
The Vikings had a league-high eight players on the COVID-19 list Thursday. They have one fewer today. The Vikings announced they activated rookie offensive tackle Blake Brandel off the COVID-19 list. Linebacker Anthony Barr, defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo, linebacker Cameron Smith, offensive tackle Oli Udoh, receiver Justin Jefferson, safety Brian Cole II and offensive lineman Tyler Higby remain on the reserve list. The NFL’s new reserve/COVID-19 list category was created for players who either test positive for COVID-19 or who have been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person. If a player falls into either of these categories, his club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and that player is not counted on the active roster. Teams are not permitted to comment on a player’s medical status other than referring to roster status. The Vikings also announced rookie cornerback Nevelle Clarke has passed his physical. NBC
They have not thought about it. Or, at least, they have no plan for it. Unless they're planning to unveil something last minute...
It's hard for me to believe they haven't thought about a situation like this, before the 2020 season begins we will see
Vikings finalizing contract extension with Rick Spielman The Vikings are nearing completion on a multiyear deal for General Manager Rick Spielman, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports Sunday night. The move was expected after coach Mike Zimmer recently signed a three-year extension that runs through 2023. Spielman, like Zimmer before his new deal, had one year remaining on his current deal. It is expected that their contracts will line up yet again. Spielman became the Vikings’ General Manager in 2012, six years after arriving in Minnesota as vice president of player personnel. The team has made the postseason four of his eight seasons as G.M. and reached the NFC Championship Game in the 2017 season. The Vikings got younger in the offseason, releasing Xavier Rhodes and Linval Joseph and not re-signing Everson Griffen. They drafted 15 players in April, the most selections a team has made since the NFL went to a seven-round draft in 1994. NBC
Ok now you and Mike Zimmer got your contracts done now it's time to bring a SB to Minnesota it's been a LONG WAIT!!!!!
Raiders trade P.J. Hall to Vikings The Raiders planned to release defensive tackle P.J. Hall today. Then they got a trade offer. The Vikings acquired Hall in a trade with the Raiders, according to multiple reports. The Vikings aren’t giving up much (a seventh-round pick that is conditioned on Hall playing at least six games for the Vikings this season), but for the Raiders it’s better than nothing and for the Vikings they don’t have to worry about Hall getting claimed on waivers by some other team. At the FCS level, Hall was a dominant player in college, and in his second season last year he emerged as a starter who looked like he had the potential to grow into a solid NFL contributor as well. But the Raiders, who selected Hall in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, decided to move on after two years. Now the Vikings will see if Hall can prove himself a legitimate second-round talent. NBC
P.J. Hall doesn't look half bad maybe change of scenery might do him some good a combination of him and Armon Watts could be quite awesome
Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook arrived at camp last Tuesday despite previously stating that he would not report unless he received a new deal. However, under the new collective bargaining agreement, the 24-year-old ran the risk of becoming a restricted free agent beyond 2020 by not showing up, something he ultimately did not want to do. Cook had a breakout season in 2019, finishing with 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. He also added 53 catches for 519 yards and was also one of the most prolific runners after contact. He is slated to make $1.3 million if an agreement isn't reached. Nonetheless, with the team vowing to work to get a new deal done, fantasy managers can feel a bit more confident by selecting Cook in the first round of fantasy drafts for the upcoming campaign. Well P.J. Hall failed his physical so the trade with the Raiders is off unbelievable I guess Armon Watts is on the Covid 19 list
I was just on YouTube and they picked the Vikings as 1 the most overrated team WTF if anything they would the be the most underrated team, something are just BS on YouTube
Vikings linebacker Cameron Smith announced today that he will miss the season because he needs open-heart surgery to repair a congenital defect. “I found out I need open heart surgery to fix a bicuspid aortic valve that I was born with,” Smith wrote on Instagram. “Although this will unfortunately end my 2020 season, it is really a blessing that we found this as my heart is severely enlarged and wouldn’t have lasted much longer. I found this out after I tested positive for COVID and had to have further testing done as protocol. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but I could really feel him on this one! There is a surgery that will allow me to continue to play football as soon as I am healed and cleared and I didn’t think twice about going with that one.” The Vikings selected Smith in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft. He played in five games as a rookie last year. Although Smith did not opt out of the 2020 season before the Thursday deadline, there is a provision that allows players to opt out after the deadline if a new health diagnosis puts them at high risk. It is unknown whether Smith will seek to use that provision, which would allow him to receive a $350,000 stipend this year.
Thank God he found out now Cameron Smith can get the help he needs football is just a game....your life is WAY more important
Vikings Add LB Quentin Poling to Roster EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings added depth to their linebackers group Saturday with the signing of Quentin Poling. Minnesota released running back Tony Brooks-James. Poling was a seventh-round pick by the Dolphins (227th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent the 2018 season on Miami's practice squad before spending parts of the 2019 season on the Raiders and Falcons practice squads. Poling did make his NFL debut in Week 10 of the 2019 season with the Raiders, registering five snaps on special teams against the Chargers. The 25-year-old Ohio native played colligatively at Ohio University, where he holds school records in career solo tackles (221) and career tackles for loss (44.0). vikings.com
Probably just a depth move because of missing Cameron. He has a chance to make the team, but there are others chomping at the bit also.
