With Covid 19 affecting every team it is a very big year for the Vikings and Mike Zimmer is it going to be a Marvin Lewis type of year being good but not good enough as a fan I except more, getting a little sick tired of same old same old
the HC of the Browns Kevin Stefanski seems to be going after the Vikings I just read the Vikings former QB coach just signed with the Browns but I believe the Vikings will be just fine
Adam Thielen is a two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Vikings, but seven years ago he was an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota State who had to work hard in minicamps and the preseason just to earn a spot on the practice squad. If Thielen were a rookie this year, he doesn’t think it would happen. With offseason programs canceled, the preseason canceled and smaller training camp rosters, Thielen believes a player of his stature would never even get an opportunity to prove himself. “I know that if I was going through this offseason as a rookie, I wouldn’t be in the NFL,” Thielen told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “There’s no chance. So, that part is difficult [for undrafted free agents], but at the same time it’s a unique situation that nobody could have anticipated.” There may very well be a player coming out of a small school this year who’s good enough to become a Pro Bowler but will never get the chance to show what he can do, the way Thielen did seven years ago. Mike Zimmer has signed a three-year contract extension with the Vikings, the team announced Friday. The deal places him under contract through 2023. “We are excited to have coach Zimmer continue to lead the Minnesota Vikings this season and beyond,” Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf said. “We strongly believe in his leadership and the team culture he’s fostered. We look forward to him furthering the team’s success of the previous six seasons and leading us to our ultimate goal of bringing a Super Bowl championship to Minnesota.” Zimmer, 64, has spent the past six seasons in Minnesota. He was entering the final year of his deal. Zimmer is 57-38-1 as a head coach, with Minnesota ranking seventh in wins among NFL teams since 2014. He led the Vikings to NFC North titles in 2015 and 2017 and has reached the NFC Championship Game. “Coach Zimmer brings an intensity and consistency to the field that our players and fans alike appreciate,” Vikings owner/chairman Zygi Wilf said. “He holds his players and staff to a high standard and will continue to guide the Vikings to long-term success.” NBC
I don't understand this Dalvin Cook contract talks sign him up the Vikings don't need this it's nothing but a distraction going into the season an unnecessary soap box drama IMO,hey Tricky Ricky DO YOUR DANM JOB
Cook told Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer that he will report for the start of training camp on Tuesday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Heading into the final year of his rookie deal, in which he would play under a $1.3 million salary if not extended, Cook previously said he would hold out until he receives a "reasonable" extension. It's not clear if he received a contract offer or had a change of heart. Either way, it looks far more likely he'll be on a regular schedule for Week 1.
Dalvin Cook‘s agent, Zac Hiller, now contradicts a report that Cook has told Vikings running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu that Cook will report for training camp this week. “Dalvin and Coach Polamalu speak often as they have a great relationship,” Hiller told Adam Schefter of ESPN. “Dalvin has never mentioned to him anything in regards to reporting to camp. I’m not sure where the miscommunication is. I hope Dalvin plays a major role in the Vikings future success.” It’s the latest bizarre twist in a bizarre day of contradictory back-and-forths. First, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Cook told Zimmer that Cook will be at camp. Then, Hiller disputed it. Then, NFL Media reported that Cook told Polamalu that Cook will show up for the start of camp. So who knows where it will go from here? Either way, Cook will — or won’t — show up by Tuesday.
Yeah I just read this why doesn't Tricky Ricky just get this deal done, getting tired of his crap when are they going to fire him this is becoming a bigger mess than it has to be
The Vikings announced earlier in the day that head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman has tested positive for COVID-19. They have followed that by placing four players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. First-round choice Justin Jefferson is among those on the list, the biggest name to show up on the NFL’s special list thus far. The Vikings also placed rookies Blake Brandel, Brian Cole II and Tyler Higby on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The new reserve list category was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who is quarantined after being in close contact with an infected person. If a player falls into either of these categories, their club is required immediately to place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Clubs are not allowed to disclose whether a player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19. The Vikings do not believe the cases are tied to Sugarman’s positive test, Andrew Krammer of the Star-Tribune reports.
I used to worry about the injury bug how it can destroy your team but this Covid 19 is looking like it can bring utter destruction to your football team
Dalvin Cook ended all suspense by reporting with the Vikings veterans to training camp for COVID-19 testing, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports. Saturday brought a contradictory back-and-forth between Vikings coaches and Cook’s agent, leaving a question about whether Cook would show up or not. He now gains credit for the upcoming season — unless he chooses to opt out by Monday — which will allow him to become a free agent in March. Cook, who will make $1.331 million in 2020, seeks a long-term deal with the Vikings. Cook missed more games (17) than he played (15) his first two seasons. But in 14 games last season, the former second-round choice ranked seventh in yards from scrimmage with 1,654 and scored 13 touchdowns on 303 touches. This offseason he declared himself “the best back in the game.” NBC
Mike Zimmer and Slick Rick better get the job done it's reminding me of Marvin Lewis having good teams and getting out coached kinda like Mike Zimmer,Everson Griffin a Packer say it ain't so Griff
Vikings place Anthony Barr on reserve/COVID-19 list Anthony Barr has spent his entire career in Minnesota, and that won't change in 2020, but this season will be unlike any other for him. He'll begin it away from his teammates. Barr was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced. The reserve/COVID-19 list is for players who either tested positive for the virus or have been quarantined after being in close contact with an infected person. Barr has appeared in at least 12 games in each of his six NFL seasons, and has earned four Pro Bowl selections. He's been a key piece in Minnesota's linebacking corps since he was selected in the first round of the 2014 draft, and nearly departed for New York in 2019 before spurning the Jets to head back to Minneapolis. Barr is coming off a down year in terms of Pro Football Focus' individual player grades, recording his lowest mark since 2016. Nonetheless, his presence is very much important to a Vikings team that is looking to make a second straight playoff appearance in 2020. NFL.com
