Vikings cornerback Mark Fields has been downgraded from questionable to out. As in off the roster. Fields have been waived to create a roster spot for linebacker Devante Downs, who has been promoted from Minnesota’s practice squad. Downs gives the Vikings another linebacker a day after Ben Gedeon landed on the injury report with a groin injury. He’s questionable for Sunday’s game at Green Bay. With cornerback Mackensie Alexander out, the decision to dump Fields could mean that Mike Hughes, currently listed as doubtful, has a chance to play. The Vikings have only four other cornerbacks. A seventh-round pick in 2018, Downs played in 11 games as a rookie. Fields arrived last month from the Chiefs for a conditional 2021 seventh-round draft pick.
Well i hope Mike Hughes is ready he had to play sooner or later, just hope the injury bug stays far far away
With Mackenzie Alexander being hurt CB depth is looking a little thin they might really play Mike Hughes it's wait and see what move the Vikings make
If Capt Kirk don't get it together quick kinda feels like chaos is just around the corner for Zimmer and Tricky Ricky,i mean all damn fumbles and INT he has made some boneheaded throws but also some nice one's but the one that really ticks me off was when he over threw a wide open Rudolph i just thought to myself WTF!
Coaches got their way in March, campaigning for expanded replay to include pass interference. Now, some are regretting that decision. The Vikings had a touchdown nullified by offensive pass interference penalty Al Riveron saw on an automatic review of the scoring play. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer still wasn’t happy Monday with what he referred to as a “bad call.” “They decided they were going to fix the play in the [NFC] Championship Game, and there’s been some unintended consequences,” Zimmer said, via Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune. The Vikings scored on a 3-yard pass from Kirk Cousins to Stefon Diggs that would have cut the Packers’ lead to 21-14 with an extra point. But the NFL’s supervisor of officials overturned it, citing Dalvin Cook for offensive pass interference. The Vikings ended up settling for a field goal and lost 21-16. “We saw clear and obvious visual evidence that No. 33 significantly hinders the opponent while the ball is still in the air,” Riveron said in a pool report. Zimmer disagreed with Riveron’s assessment. “I think it was a bad call,” Zimmer said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “Got replayed, and I still think it was a bad call. The guy was not trying to block anybody. He was trying to get out of the way.’’
They fucked the Steelers yesterday with a PI call coming from review. They need to fix this. Just can the rule. They are changing plays that don’t need to be changed. The play in the NFCCG was egregious the call that was made against the Steelers was questionable whether or not it was even interference.. The Seahawks scored a TD on the drive. They would have punted as that was third down. It was a two point game.
Did you see the reversal from the Steelers game? If they are going to call that then every pass play has interference
How long will Zimmer go with Capt Kirk? we saw this last year 2 or 3 game's i think, i'm starting to wonder are his teammates losing faith in him he keeps on making boneheaded plays you paid 84 million for this i just expected more
I don't think they paid Kirk $84M to sit on the bench. They will continue to ride him and hope he improves. Same as it ever was in Minnesota.
His money is guaranteed, which means you take a cap hit to get rid of him. He will be your QB sink or swim until his contract is up
The money is guaranteed is a nightmare if he plays good or bad he still gets paid ( sigh ) hope he improves but i'm afraid he can't get any better,he's like a polished Ponder both held on to the ball took sacks and fumbles it away and make boneheaded throws
“Unbelievable” Dalvin Cook leading the way for Vikings offense Dalvin Cook went over 100 rushing yards in Sunday’s 34-14 win over the Raiders and that made him the first Vikings player in history to rush for at least that many yards in each of the team’s first three games. The Vikings have won two of those games and their run game has been so effective in those wins that they haven’t tried a pass in the fourth quarter. That’s a stark difference from last year and it’s the kind of running game that head coach Mike Zimmer said the team was missing during the 2018 campaign. Tight end Kyle Rudolph called Cook’s production “unbelievable” after Sunday’s win and Cook said he likes the way the offense is taking shape. “It’s part of our head coach’s identity,” Cook said, via Jon Krawczynski of TheAthletic.com. “That comes with the old school rules. We know the type of defense we’ve got, if we can keep this thing close and keep this thing manageable for us to go win the football game, that’s part of running the football and taking big shots and making plays and just converting. That’s what Zim likes to do. I like it, if that’s what Zimmer likes to do.” There will likely be weeks when Cook finds the slogging a bit tougher, but it seems unlikely that the Vikings will change anything about their approach until it is absolutely necessary. Chad Beebe was carted off in the 3rd quarter has an ankle injury... should know more later today. Vikings really need some help at the WR position.
Can Mike Boone handle the kick-offs and punt returns? who can the Vikings get at WR good question who's out there, why don't they try Olabisi Johnson he looked ok in the pre-season
Vikings bring back Laquon Treadwell... The Vikings will be without wide receiver Chad Beebe for a while due to torn ankle ligaments and that means they only have three healthy wideouts currently on the 53-man roster. They’re set to make a move to bring that number to four and the player who will be added to the roster is a familiar name in Minnesota. ESPN reports that the team is signing Laquon Treadwell. Treadwell was a 2016 first-round pick by the Vikings and spent the last three years with the team before being released this summer. He was let go despite having his salary guaranteed for the 2019 season, so the Vikings were already paying him and will now try to get something for that money. If history is a guide, they won’t be getting much. Treadwell only caught 56 passes over the last three seasons and the Vikings have thrown the fewest passes in the league through three games.
