Saw some of the game they didn't look to smooth on offense, again no Dalvin Cook what's going on here?...the injury bug seems to be all over the Vikings
Vikings release Kai Forbath... The Vikings opened up several roster spots on Monday and brought an end to their kicking competition in the process. The team announced that Kai Forbath has been released, which leaves fifth-round pick Daniel Carlson as the only kicker on the roster. Forbath joined the team in 2016 and made 47-of-53 field goals over 23 regular season outings, but missed a 41-yarder against the Jaguars on Saturday. “That’s a kick I should make,” Forbath said, via the Pioneer Press. “It came off the foot good. It had good height and good distance. It just stayed down the hash. It happens.” In addition to releasing Forbath, the Vikings also dropped four injured players from the roster. Sixth-round defensive end Ade Aruna is headed to injured reserve after being carted off against the Jaguars while tackle Cedric Lang, tight end Josiah Price and fullback Johnny Stanton have been waived with injury designations.
AP has signed a one year deal with the Redskins I thought he hung em up,how long is he going to chase days long past it's OVER!
Vikings sign C Jacob Judd... The Vikings dropped five players from their roster on Monday and continued filling the open roster spots by signing center Jacob Judd on Tuesday. Judd took part in the Vikings’ rookie minicamp this spring on a tryout basis. He joins guard Kareem Are and fullback Kobe McCrary, who signed on Monday, as new additions to the roster in Minnesota. Judd was a third-team FCS All-American last year while playing at Western Illinois. Adding Judd and Ade to the offensive line group comes as no surprise because the Vikings have been banged up across the line this summer. Guard Nick Easton is out for the year while center Pat Elflein, guard Mike Remmers and right tackle Rashod Hill have all missed time due to injuries. (PFT)
Another fb claimed off waivers from the Falcons who the heck is Luke McNitt?,do they need a fb no they need O-linemen the way it's going
After adding a bunch of players to the injured reserve list over the past couple of days, the Minnesota Vikings have started filling the open roster spots. More surprisingly, for the second time in two days, they’ve added a fullback to the roster. On Tuesday, the Vikings claimed fullback Luke McNitt off of waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. He joins incumbent fullback C.J. Ham and the Kobe McCrary, the former Golden Gopher who signed with the team yesterday. McNitt, who played his college football at the University of Nebraska, went undrafted this past April and signed with the Falcons on 1 May. McNitt did not accumulate any stats in two preseason games with the Falcons, but was in contention for the fullback job with the Falcons. With the Vikings adding another running back, it is worth noting that neither Mike Boone nor Roc Thomas practiced on Tuesday. I don’t think that the McNitt signing is going to affect those two being the primary contenders for the #3 running back spot with the Vikings, but it does stand to reason that McNitt could see some action on Friday against the Seattle Seahawks if neither Boone nor Thomas can go. The Vikings still have one open spot on the 90-man roster, but there hasn’t been any word yet on who might occupy it yet. (Daily Norseman)
3 Observations: Vikings Shuffle O-Line Combos in Practice … EAGAN, Minn. — This Vikings continued preparation for their third preseason game by holding practice on Tuesday. Minnesota practiced in full pads for just under two hours on an overcast and windy day at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center. The Vikings are on a short week before their third preseason game, which is at U.S. Bank Stadium at 7 p.m. (CT) Friday against the Seahawks. Here are three observations from Tuesday’s session: 1. Lots of options When the Vikings first unit lined up in team drills, the offensive line consisted of left tackle Riley Reiff, left guard Tom Compton, center Cornelius Edison, right guard Mike Remmers and right tackle Rashod Hill. Guard Danny Isidora and tackle Brian O’Neill soon came on to replace Remmers and Hill, respectively, as that pair has missed some practices of late due to injuries. The Vikings later gave Reiff a breather as Storm Norton worked at left tackle. Norton also ran with the second-team offensive line at left tackle, and was joined by left guard Colby Gossett, center J.P. Quinn, Isidora and O’Neill. Minnesota later mixed things up by moving Gossett to right guard and putting Kaleb Johnson at left guard. Dieugot Joseph later played right tackle with the second-team offense. Josh Andrews and Pat Elflein (PUP) did not practice. Aviante Collins watched the majority of practice after getting banged up early on in the session. 2. Beebe’s versatility stands out Chad Beebe was everywhere you looked on Tuesday. The undrafted free agent wide receiver showed off his versatility on offense and special teams, downing a pair of punts inside the 10-yard line during a punting drill. Beebe was later a favorite target of Trevor Siemian in a 7-on-7 drill as the quarterback hit him for a pair of passes during the session. Siemian connected with Beebe on two passes in a simulated situation at the end of practice (see below). Beebe has four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown in two preseason games. 3. Defensive duel There was quite the defensive stalemate at Tuesday’s practice. Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer put the offense and defense against each other with the mock game tied at 17 with five minutes remaining. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings first-team offense started with the ball on their own 25-yard line, picking up two first downs in four plays thanks to a pair of Dalvin Cook runs and passes by Cousins to Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph. But the offense faced trouble on third-and-5 from their own 46-yard line as they were called for a false start before Cousins was “sacked” for an 8-yard loss. The second-team offense took over on its own 20-yard line after Ryan Quigley’s punt. Siemian found Beebe for back-to-back first downs before the drive stalled. The offense was called for a false start on third-and-7 from its own 45-yard line before they were forced to punt it away with just under a minute left. Zimmer then ended the drill, and the Vikings worked on special teams for the remainder of practice.
I hope they can find a fix for the O-line looks like the Vikings are going to sign George Iloka ( sp ) safety it just makes me wonder why Bengals would let him go? or was this a cost cutting type of thing?
Mike Zimmer wants more depth at linebacker... At a time when the Vikings may be adding significant depth at safety with the expected arrival of George Iloka, another position on defense has the head coach’s concern. Mike Zimmer wants more depth at linebacker. “We don’t have enough depth right now,” Zimmer said Tuesday, via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “So that’s what we’re trying to work on, getting more depth at probably a lot of spots.” Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks lead the way. Beyond them, there isn’t all that much. So how will the Vikings acquire more depth at the position? “There’s all kinds of ways to do that,” Zimmer said. He’s right, but with so much money devoted to newcomers like Kirk Cousins and young, core players like Kendricks, defensive end Danielle Hunter, and receiver Stefon Diggs, there may not be much the Vikings can do by way of paying for depth. Which speaks to a bigger problem, potentially, for the Vikings, if/when injuries happen. Without the cash or cap space to have a robust middle class of reserves, they’ll need young players to step when called upon. If not, it will be very hard for the team to get back to the playoffs, or to advance if they make it there. (PFT)
Vikings getting healthier on offensive line... The Vikings may not have their entire starting offensive line sharing game reps until the regular season, but they’ll get a bit closer to a complete set on Friday. Right guard Mike Remmers and right tackle Rashod Hill have missed time, including the second preseason game, with ankle injuries. They have returned to practice this week, though, and head coach Mike Zimmer said on Wednesday that he expects both to play against the Seahawks on Friday night. “I think they’ll get some reps this week,” Zimmer said, via the Pioneer Press. “We need to firm up the pocket a little bit and stay stout in there.” Center Pat Elflein is still on the physically unable to perform list after ankle and shoulder injuries and probably won’t play at all in the preseason, but getting Remmers and Hill back will allow the Vikings to get some continuity on a line that needs to replace left guard Nick Easton after his season-ending injury.
