That was a smothering performance. 2 sacks and 10 QB hits. 142 total yards given up and a career low 82 yards passing for Burrow. If it wasn't for that pass interference to put the Bengals in FG range, they would've had a chance to shut them out.
Wow, so Burrow really can't win in Cleveland I see. 2.6 yards per pass attempt is insane. Who throws 31 times and doesn't even get 85 passing yards. The Browns defense put in work today
Sunday's loss came days after Chase said playing in Cleveland was just a normal game. "It don't feel no different," Chase said Thursday. "It's just the hooping and hollering about the Cleveland Browns. I was about to call them the elves, but yeah." Those elves stood tall Sunday, shrinking the Bengals down to 142 yards of offense. A clearly dismayed Chase didn't let his squad's three-point showing dissuade him from piling on the elf talk, though. "It's frustrating because I called they ass elves and we just lost to some elves," said Chase of the Browns, who have a mascot named Brownie the Elf. "So I'm pissed on my part, I'm pissed on that end. "We got missed opportunities, we didn't capitalize … and we lost."
Jack Conklin is expected to have season-ending ACL surgery on his knee. My guess is Dawand Jones is the new starting Right Tackle. (Unless they promote Alex Leatherwood from the Practise Squad.)
That's bad news, I always hate hearing about injuries. Unfortunately Conklin's list is becoming long. They need to find the permanent replacement. I think they are ready to gives Dawand the chance to prove himself. The guy is behemoth! 6'8" 375 pounds, but he moves really well. I don't think his size hinders him. I look forward to seeing what he can do at this level.
Let’s see what the 111th pick in the 4th round can do. Hope he makes a fool of every team that passed on him. He’s going to have a rough intro to one of the best in the NFL when he’s lined up opposite TJ Watt.
If its any consolation, TJ's inside guy, Cameron Hayward, will be MIA with an injury. That might help.
Speaking of sack masters.. I loved the defensive alignments that allowed Garret to never be in the same spot twice... I hope they continue doing that.
The Browns are favored in Pittsburgh, the first time since 1989. A win against Pittsburgh would give the Browns their first 2-0 start since 1993. Time to exorcise some old demons……
Remember this? Maybe it was like one of those Nostradamus prophecies. It most certainly heralds the future arrival of Dawand Jones.
Monkey # 1; The last time the Browns started a season 2-0-0, Bill Belichick was the Head Coach. Monkey # 2; The Steelers are 20-0 against the Browns at home on MNF (regular season).
Throw them on the pile of demons to exorcise. The longer a win streak goes, the more likely it is to get broken.
