The PERFECT example of why you never throw away a season cause you never know what might happen. You do know exactly what will happen when you do throw away a season. I will be enjoying my second and third WS games in person next Tues and Weds,
The PERFECT example of how you use the farm and incorporate a good chunk of them into the everyday line-up, and how you use the farm also as currency to net players that you need instead having to blow it all via free agency. Like I said, they are the most valuable pieces to any franchise. KC's run may be shorter because of market level but they still have a chance to win it all whereas the Cubs will have the flexibility because of their ability to keep adding pieces to maintain consistency. This is why times are going to be fun from here on out as the progression should keep increasing, barring injuries of course. *YAHOO*
Times are NOT going to be fun until they try and win. That means signing/acquiring some big time players to help the pre-schoolers get on their way. Until that happens, it's going to take years and lots of luck. The manager and coaches have sucked filthy ball bags also. (With the exception of Bosio) They need to be replaced. Edit: Would also like to see FuckStein sent packing, if I haven't mentioned that before.
And it only took TWENTY NINE years to put together your perfect example. But keep thinking Epstein can do it in 4-5
whoa. no, u haven't mentioned that before. next time you're gonna say something so surprising, could u please warn me to sit down first? thanks
Would Lester or Shields, Hammel, and Markakis change your tune? Just asking what you are looking at for next year. :-*
Again, keep using the exceptions as you always tell people not to do. Sure their will be no difference in TV revenues, market, and advertising to get better free agent players than what they have in KC. *THUMBSUP*
Yes. That would help change my tune. They need to get at least two. Max may be on the market also. Would be happy if they were able to get both Max and John, they can afford it also.
That's a bold supposition to make. And you're a mod? Not here at least, thank you. Getting tired of the " all in or your out" circle jerk that is CCS? Puig would want money and cost precious prospects, so that's not in the "Cub way" manual anyway, until it's proven otherwise by the Org. Let's wait and see.Hopefully not 29 yrs.
C'mon Silence, I see you're a mod now, but I think you've let CCS (where I assume you're primarily staying) get to you. First you say Chris Sale is a guaranteed arm injury waiting to happen here now this? Its okay if you don't like a guy, but now two brash statements such as these? Hopefully you haven't been paint huffing with DJ. You're supposed to be the good guy. If it was Fisch it would be understandable. Oh, and feel free to lift my permanent ban if you'd please.....
I have no say in banning. Also, yes, I believe Chris Sale is arm injury waiting to happen. I dont see him going another 3 to 4 years without a major arm injury. Its my personal opinion. As for Puig, that was mostly a joke but the guy keeps acting like he does. He is going to get hit with some kind of charge.
What does me being staff on another site have to do with anything? Great post. You accomplished a lot.
Granted, Randy Johnson has 4 inches and about 50 lbs on Sale, both have VERY similar throwing styles/mechanics. Johnson never suffered a major injury in his career till the late 30s........ So I'm just curious, because 3/4 arm slot isn't exactly perfect, why will Sale be a major injury within 3 years. He's got a nice slider, but most of his pitching arsenal doesn't consist of crazy elbow breaking stuff. I'm just curious......
They can afford it, but the chances are hard enough to land just one. I believe they will (hope) do something to that nature, and I feel strongly also that they will look into next years crop hard even if they land a Jon or James to bolster the rotation. The Reds have a couple I wouldn't mind having, and the Reds have already stated that it will be trouble signing them all considering the Bailey, Votto, Phillips, Bruce contracts that are present. I know some won't be pitching anymore or are past prime, but I believe this is a list of potential free agents next year. Starters: Mark Buehrle Tim Lincecum Jordan Zimmermann John Lackey Chad Billingsley Scott Kazmir Yovani Gallardo Tim Hudson Brett Anderson A.J. Burnett Kyle Lohse Bartolo Colon Brandon Morrow Johnny Cueto Dan Haren Hisashi Iwakuma Mike Pelfrey Wei-Yen Chen Felipe Paulino Matt Thornton Jacob Turner David Pauley Bud Norris Kris Medlen Mike Leake Mat Latos Ian Kennedy Jair Jurrjens Doug Fister Jhoulys Chacin Alfredo Simon Jeff Samardzija Rick Porcello David Price
http://www.hardballtimes.com/tht-live/chris-sale-and-his-faulty-elbow/ Some of this, some of what you said above. I dont like his thin frame. He throws hard on that slender body. Johnson was a freak. The size and stuff was unmatched. Add into the fact that their is an epidemic of young pitchers getting hurt because of the way they were brought up throwing. Its my personal opinion he will have a major injury. He is part of the generation. Im not saying this is guaranteed and I am not ripping him. Its just my take on him.
It is like a mirror image in that his mechanics are so tight. As for pitchers, it is just that.......a gamble. Hell, the Cardinals alone had Carpenter, Wainright, Garcia, and now Wacha is having problems too. The Cubs however have been blessed so far (knock on wood) to not have many injuries to their staff. I guess I don't have to remind any Cubs fans about Wood and Prior. *SCRATCH*
From what I know..... The hardest pitch on your your body to throw is the overhand curveball. If a person is able to pitch effectively from out of a sidearm position it is less stress on the body. I know this because I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
