First off - Much appreciation, @Willie

I consider it a God damn privilege that you are not only a part of this hellhole I created, but someone that I consider a friend on these boards.

If I ever walk away from these boards, they are yours for a nickel.

And that's not some talking shit kind of thing.

This forum would be yours, without any hesitation.

    Now, for the Saints...

1 9 New Orleans Saints Kelvin Banks Jr. OT Texas SEC
2 40 New Orleans Saints Tyler Shough QB Louisville ACC
3 71 New Orleans Saints Vernon Broughton DT Texas SEC
3 93 New Orleans Saints Jonas Sanker S Virginia ACC
    from Washington[R3 – 10]
4 112 New Orleans Saints Danny Stutsman LB Oklahoma SEC
4 131 New Orleans Saints Quincy Riley CB Louisville ACC
    from Washington[R4 – 7]
6 184 New Orleans Saints Devin Neal RB Kansas Big 12
    from New Orleans via Washington[R6 – 5]
7 248 New Orleans Saints Moliki Matavao TE UCLA Big Ten
    from Philadelphia via Washington[R7 – 19]
7* 254 New Orleans Saints Fadil Diggs DE Syracuse ACC

Banks feels like a perfect value at where NO took him, so I like that pick.

Shough feels like what the coach wanted, and he is the first time coach, so let him run it, and I hope that it is an absolute crusher for him.

Broughton and Sanker feel like value. I may have made different decisions, but I can't argue the direction.

I'm not sure on the rest of the class they chose, but it feels like NO had some holes they wanted to plug in the short term, and these players may fit the bill.

I guess my argument would be - Is the upside there so you can say, "yeah, we got players that have a pulse for spots we need". compared to "yeah, we had to fill those spots, but these kids have upside beyond depth!".

    Not great, not bad...

    Not excited...

Just wanted to chime in and say, having read that last post, that Willie is undoubtedly the most consistently valuable poster here. He's not only informed me of things I wouldn't have otherwise known on many occasions, but I've had actual, constructive conversations with him on numerous topics (football or otherwise) where he's had a level head and reacted in the way a kind, sane person does.

I'm excited to see what everyone thinks about the draft, because I really didn't tune in at all over the weekend (or leading up to it, like I might usually do). Ryan Poles is just such a poor excuse of a GM that I wasn't going to fool myself into getting excited. The Bears got their much needed... TE and WR with their first two picks. Got it. Cool.

So, I'm going to pull from everyone else to learn about the weekend's happenings and the reactions, accordingly. I appreciate y'all.

The downside to the side (I'm drinking and all that), he just seemed like the kind of player that is really going to need some coaching to change what he is to what he can be.

And, he ended up in the perfect spot for that, IMO.

You guys are all too kind... keep up the good work ;)

    Seriously thanks.

I just have fun here. Sometimes some days are more funnerer than others, but for me, this place is a nice escape from the reality of everyday stuffs that goes on outside of this place.

Now, having said that... If it gets any mushier in here, Im going to need some butter and honey.

Calm your tits and prepare for the obnoxious amount of alcohol we are going to consume, and the unflattering photos that will be posted after...

I noticed you liking that post @RTTRUTH .

Let's see what you and @LAOJoe have to say when @Willie and I roll across the border to hit one of those stripper casinos with a proper group of assholes...

Meaning, Will and I, and whatever degenerate we meet on the way...

    Like you’ve got time for that… ;)

I do often marvel at the fact I spend more time with you sports degenerates than many of the people in my real life. I would certainly make an effort to be there. But, you know, my life is only roughly 20% mine to live at the moment. So keep me posted. A proper warning would be my only hope

At a rough glance I did enjoy the Ravens draft and the Bills. Pats too, Steelers.

Bears, Raiders, Jaguars, Cowboys are just a few others where I can definitely appreciate what they were trying to do. Eagles as usual, unfortunately.

Colts was decent. I love the first two picks for sure. Really enjoyed Wohler in the 7th also. Curious if we view him as a safety or a Linebacker. We arguably had a need for depth at both

Didn’t dislike many drafts. I’m a bit critical of the Falcons approach, though I do like the players acquired.

And despite liking almost all their picks, I still find it quite bold that a team like the Bengals, after burning so much recent capital on D-line/Edge whiffs, would spend 17 overall on a guy with so little production. Just didn’t seem like the way to go. Obviously if Shemar hits his ceiling I’ll be the dummy. Just wonder with their window open if “safe” might be a good idea one of these years.

I actually really like him. One of the few non-early TEs I think has a real chance at being a receiving option in the league. Not high volume or anything but more than a couple catches a game.

Definitely Willie. He keeps the forums alive more than anyone else with the News section and such. Ever since Tim had to step back it's been a no brainer who has been MVP. And that doesn't even count all he did before Tim stopped pushing the site for profit.

I'll bring @Jeffrey Dowhan. He can be a proper asshole after he's had enough playing nice. Well that's most Canadians.

  14. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

Good reason to be critical of the Atlanta front office... they gave up next year's first AND fifth. Why? Because they were so short on picks this year from all the misfires last year and the year before.

Two years ago they had the division in hand in midseason and choked, largely because of the way Arthur Smith mishandled his quarterbacks. That got Smith fired and both of the quarterbacks traded. Last year they had the division in hand in midseason and choked again, partly because of whatever happened with Cousins (presumably injury) but also serious failures on defense. That got the new DC and the defensive line coach fired, and 10 players who played at least half the season on defense were not kept. All but one of those players (Grady Jarrett) were current GM Terry Fontenot's acquisitions.

He gets credit for getting the team out of Dimitroff's cap mess, but now he's right back in his own cap mess - and added his own draft pick shortage. So if for whatever reason Pearce doesn't pan out and the Falcons tank yet again, it might be the end for Fontenot.

Also note that if they don't get progress this year then the Falcons office are likely out and without a 1st round pick. The GM's using resources to save their jobs because a bad year means they are probably out. Not a good place for the next guy if so with no pick.

I just saw the crap that happened in Vancouver. Can't sleep now. I'm made of sterner stuff so it's not the graphic nature that is making me uneasy as much as my mind is racing now. I might do draft grades and sleep in.

  17. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

I take it this is what you were referring to. So not even in the 7th or that UDFA thing you do afterwards?! And the Bears made him a 4th round pick. That is friggin hilarious.

Honestly, i would trust the collective intelligence of the people taking part in that more(thats easy), and i would prob even trust the individual intelligence of any one of you over the Bears GM, lol.

I can always see these posts and raise them heh. One of Bears top needs was DE and they didnt draft a single one ha!

And i'll go one better. Poles has been in Chicago since 2022, and across now FOUR drafts he has taken a grand total of 2 DE's, NONE higher than the 5th round! Of course there is the 2nd rounder for Montez Sweat before the trade deadline, but that is Poles' record on draft day for what many consider the second most important position on the field. Truly unbelievable.

In taking the time to research the Saints a little bit before the mock draft thing, CB was a position that leapt out as an area of potential real weakness, especially in a division with at least two dangerous passing attacks. Assuming they didnt sign someone recently and i missed it, im very surprised the Saints took until their 6th selection and bottom of the 4th to get round to this. I expect i'll keep an eye on this now throughout the season to see how it plays out.

Well this was my thinking too. I know im more than eloquent enough to make you cry and no one needs to see that. So i'll just say cheers Will
