Exactly, his transformation was just magical, picked himself up by his bootstraps. And Pete, the defensive minded head coach, was the next portion, and he also put the talent on the Seahawks ahead of Waldron. Dude had an axe to grind. That said, he's seen a lot more Seahawks football than I have. I asked my neighbor again this morning, and he thinks with the right QB Waldron could work wonders.

I don't hate Hoge and Jahns myself, I don't always agree but compared to some of the other talking heads they are the most reasonable. Hate Fishbain, hate Carm, hate Kap.

I've seen a few mocks with us taking Luatu at 9, so that's something. It would not surprise me to see Poles trade 9 back to recoup the lost 2 for Sweat, but who knows.

The Bears had 9 starting combinations last year, same as the year before. I like Tevin but he can't stay healthy. Nate Davis/Whitehair were nothing to write home about, and then Braxton, our discount LT. The only OL that started every game for the Bears? Wright. Gee, you invest a high pick in OL, and he turns out to be a stud. Who would have thought.

To be fair, the Chargers were always going to be a good landing spot for him, and maybe behind the scenes the Bears did reach out to see if he would entertain Chicago, and he wasn't interested. That said, with Herbert and the talent the Chargers already have, Harbaugh is going to be a boon for them. What could have been if our team wasn't managed by idiots.

So Eberflus is still calling plays? In this case, good.

No clue who the fuck this guy even is. Looked him up, he has DC experience from Carolina in 2018-2019 where his first year his defense gave up 6 yards per play, 45 tds and 5650 total yards given up as the 19th ranked D, before getting worse and becoming the 31st in 2019, 5990 yards given up and 52 total TDs scored against in 16 games then he got fired.

He’s supposedly a DL coaching whiz, well, I’m not so sure about that. It’s not like Ed Oliver, Leonard Floyd, and AJ Epenesa never had success before he got there. Furthermore, Greg Rousseou, their young 1st round pick DE has regressed under this guy.

Nothing about this guy makes me think the team just got better. He looks like a mope benefitting by being in the right place and the right time.

Gotta draft him. His floor is Fields. Ceiling? HOFer? I don’t care what you can get for the first pick. The more teams want it the more you should use it. If you’re getting offered multiple first round picks to take Williams and nobody is offering multiple firsts to take Fields what does that tell you? There is no guarantee Williams pans out. There is also no guarantee that the picks you get for not taking him pan out. You have to take that chance. As Bears fans we are owed that. Trade Fields and use those picks to continue building the roaster along with pick 9. Because of all the Qb’s expected to go early we get to take the best QB and benefit from other players falling. It’s a great situation to be in. Getting back to the 9th pick IMO you use it on a player that sacks the QB or prevents the QB from getting sacked.

For a brief moment I almost felt bad for the Lions for choking so badly yesterday and then I saw the clip of CJ Gardner Johnson waving goodbye to fans when they went up 2 scores in the first half and then cheap-shotting Deebo later in the game and my Lions hatred returned full blast. Fuck those assholes we should have swept them.

They really out-Lioned themselves that's for sure. I would have had some sympathy for them until I saw the taunting bs.

I watched that myself actually. ANd i agree with you on the Geno stuff, silly to give no credit to the OC for that situation. But i also thought there was plenty else in there that should give real pause for thought.

I'm only ever so slightly on the positive side of neutral about this hire.

This is where i am at as well. You've got to draft him, i dont know how Poles doesnt. Honestly i think you have to just on the arm talent which is incredible, the athleticism is a bonus. The only thing i dont know about is the mental/temperament side and thats something the Bears will have to eval as best they can and make a call on. The NIL money, the dad who makes the Williams sisters old man look non douche-like, they arent great, but are they really getting you off the pick. Highly doubt it.

The problem is when your team and your coaching staff is a revolving door of temporary replacements the only people willing to coach under these circumstances are mopes.

The problem is this eliminates the Raiders as a possible trade partner for Fields.

We need to target Falcons, Broncos, Commies, and maybe even Saints?

I’d argue otherwise. It’s reported Fields and Getsy got along well here, and Pierce likes to run the ball. Won’t say it’s a guarantee, but also won’t say cross them off the list immediately.

Commies, Falcons, and Broncos have all called about #1. Commies after just hiring Kingsbury I’d expect to up the ante for #1 overall. Everybody brings up the falcons because Justin’s from there, but no idea what their new coach even wants. And the broncos probably have to get rid of Russ first. Or pay him to sit on the bench.

Saints gave Derek Carr 4 years/150 mil with 100 guaranteed a year ago. Don’t think they’re in on Justin unless they can shed that/find someone to take that poison pill. Then they paid Taysom Hill big money.

Market for Justin may be Pittsburgh and a handful of teams including ones you listed. I’ll keep saying it, I don’t agree with just giving Justin away just to trade him, even if you do take Caleb and that was the plan all along at #1. If you deal him because somebody HAS to have him, that’s entirely different.

Do you mean on a personal level? Cos thats one thing, but if they were on the same page professionally we never would've seen Fields all but call out Getsy in that presser that sent the team into panic mode. We also would've seen an offensive approach/playcalling much more tailored to Justin's strengths, something i thought Getsy generally did a horrible job of doing this season. I'd be surprised if Fields felt differently. If your Fields not sure why you would want that same guy overseeing your vital 2nd strike shot at a long term starter gig with accompanying big bag.

I get that you're not saying its likely. I just don't see it. Shame cos Fields & a 3rd day pick for the #13 overall would've worked for me.

The Steelers are a competently run organization, so imo we can forget about getting any meaningful trade offer from them. I wouldn't put it past them offering something like a '23 3rd & '24 4th or 5th, and considering they probably think they've got Poles' number re trade negotiations that phone call prob has/will happen heh. But they can F right off with that kinda chat.

I'm trying to stay away from all the pre-draft nonsense, but the latest rumor is Denver. There doesn't seem to be a lot to go on though, everyone just assumes the Bears are picking Caleb and dealing Justin for whatever. We won't know until it happens.

OMG me too, I didn't realize how many Fields slurpers there actually were. If you criticize any part of his game you get the tired excuses, no weapons, no offensive line, and Bears receivers drop too many balls, even though the Bears are tied for 3rd with the fewest drops and the team that had nearly 3 times that number just won the Super Bowl. Oh and then you get, well you're an idiot. It gets even better if you say you want to trade him, and draft Caleb, you're accused of being racist even though you want to draft another black QB.
The Bears have to have one of the most ignorant fanbases I swear to God.

Ha. Good one. Reminds me of the CBS days when some Lions bum would mock the Bears for getting a trivial personnel move wrong while sitting through another 2 win season for their own team.

    Bears!!!

  17. bigrobo876 Franchise Player Bears

I was just kidding with you big guy. I agree that the Steelers are a well run team and I don’t see them giving up draft assets to acquire Fields with the other options available. I do see a team like the raiders or falcons doing it though.

  18. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

No i got the joke, as we'd say over here, good dig. Not a great move on the Steelers part so fair game. Just couldn't help thinking about what other teams may have said about ours back in the day. I guess both are true.

Anyway, i see they just cut him so he'll be off to his next stop now.

  19. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

We prob all have our own takeaways from that SB, for me it re-enforced just how crucial the QB position has become and that the Bears need to aim higher there.

I like Fields you guys know that, and i think he can still have a good career if he doesnt wind up in a black hole like NE. But we've just seen Mahomes go up against 3 heavyweights. First Allen, then Lamar, then Shannahan/Purdy, and he beat them all. If a team as incredibly well rounded as the 49ers cant get past Mahomes how are the Bears ever going to with Fields?

I know, thats an incredibly high bar and the Bears are far away, but if the SB isnt the goal then what is? If there's an option in the draft that has a higher ceiling than Fields then surely you have to take it. IF Williams is as talented as they say then there must be a chance he can become a top QB. I love accumulating draft picks etc but in this case its time to focus in. Its a swing half the league wants to take. The Bears should.

That's why you have to swing now as you can take it without unloading any draft assets, anything gained now would likely be lost trying to move up next season anyway if that is the case. You reset the QB clock and move on from there. If there ever was a time and a window it's now. If he is coming in with Fields current ability as his floor (I don't know how the fuck they determined that but I'll play along) this year they should at least compete and next year challenge for the North. You're not allocating a lot of resources to the QB position other than that 1st overall money for the next 4 years and can build around that. The one thing that worries the piss out of me is that this fucker will be hard to sign and with Cliff Stein completely out of the picture I fear a holdout imminent.
