Overpaid for an old QB with no postseason success. Drafted an older QB prospect with two ACL injuries in his history.
I like it but I don't love it. I really like Penix and if you like a QB enough why not this high? He definitely needs to learn a lot and he should behind Kirk. Atlanta needs a CB or edge in the 2nd. I'd say Edge first and then CB early 3rd with a guy probably still there.
Im just not a fan of Penix… I have said before, with the importance of the QB, why would any team pass on one in the draft if there is a talented one available? Never know who is going to hit and the more time you can offer a young guy, the better chance of success.
I genuinely wonder if they are scheming for arch manning at this point… It feels like 2018 all over again. The QB need is so glaring and obvious but you take the shiny toy instead. Nabers is a fantastic fit for Dabolls system. But I can’t help but wonder exactly how they are planning on taking advantage of the YAC potential if you can’t hit the guy accurately and on time…. It sucks to feel down on getting a blue chip player at a high value position.
They protected their expensive investment with another expensive investment. Penix may have the most natural arm talent in the class, but he needs to clean up the underneath. He reads defenses well and the deep ball accuracy is probably top of the class. Get him mental reps behind a seasoned veteran with no rush to get him on the field. Atlanta didn't like the QB room last season and committed money and draft assets to make sure they didn't have to go through it again this year.
Fuck me!!! Another offensive player!!! I felt this was a weak defensive draft, but damn, there are a couple of teams that are going to get some talent on that side of the ball, who never thought they would have a chance at them.
