In a surprise move, sending shockwaves throughout the league, the Arizona Cardinals are under new management. He's waiting to hear from his fellow GMs. If you know what I mean...
I'm working on getting a "clean" copy of the spreadsheet transferred over from one account to another. Last year I also had some weird issues with one spreadsheet (Google Sheets) not allowing the link to show, so I'm hoping for the best on that. But it's ready to rock. I'll be sending a few of you PMs about the spreadsheet later today to get you hooked up with access to it. Also... the source list for which team has what pick that I used was from the NFL site. I don't think there have been real life trades since I pulled it that involving draft picks, but if it turns out that I missed anything or have any errors on the spreadsheet, let me know. But from this point forward, we'll treat the rosters as frozen. If real life trades happen over the next week that affect your teams, you can mirror it if both GMs choose to do so, ignore it, or come up with your own variation. (Trades don't need approval anyway, so whatever variation you come up with together will work just fine.)
Penciled (meaning no @ in front of his user name on the list until he confirms). If anyone else who doesn't have a team yet still wants to join, we can still fit you in.
The spreadsheet should now be visible on the first post on page 1 of this thread. Helpful tip for anyone creating/sharing a spreadsheet on Google Sheets that runs into the same problem... sharing / publishing the sheet from within Google Sheets isn't enough. You also have to share it and get the link from Google Drive in order for the web page to be able to be able to open the file.
From what I'm reading, that real life trade is all about cap space and is kind of funky that way. So this is a perfect opportunity to let our new members know that we don't track cap space as any kind of rule in this mock. A lot of us do consider the cap in our own actions, in the sense that I wouldn't trade for players that would put me over the cap or trade away a player if I didn't have the headroom to absorb the dead money. But you aren't expected to keep track of it. ALSO... yes, you can use future draft picks in your trades. If you poke around the spreadsheet that is embedded in the first post at the top of page 1 of this thread, there's a tab named Future Picks. That page of the spreadsheet has the details for all of the future picks (that I know about) that have already been traded. It will help you see what extra picks you might have next year or what picks you're missing - with a column to note what trade was involved. Use it as a reference to help you plan trades.
I sent a PM to @Quew777 , @Underdog , @nybites and @matthewwillson29 to let them know this thread is up and running. If I missed anyone else, let me know or give them the heads-up. Since trade talks are underway, I'd like to make sure everyone knows we're here so they can get in on the action if they so choose.
@nybites I'm handling the Rams. Care to copy this deal?? I've always tried to play these as realistic as possible, at least from a starting point perspective. So I easily mirror that RL move myself. Pretty inconsequential anyways.
The only thing I don’t care for is the fact I got 20 minute for pick 32 . Real draft Pittsburgh will have 20 hours and that is where I would trade back but it depends on my board
In theory you have the entire draft window up to that point to work out a trade with someone. Deals very often have a "unless my guy is there" or "I'll make this if my guy is there" contingency when they get planned. So just work deals as the draft progresses and have your contingencies in place.
Which is why I prefer to plan trades out in advance. Having a general level of how people see trades (as in what is fair and not) is helpful. Helps for future drafts too if people are consistent.
FYI I will be unavailable during the Patriots pick window tomorrow night and am planning to provide a proxy list to my guy MaroonTyphoon who has the subsequent pick. In the meantime if anyone is interested in discussing a trade to a Friday morning pick that nets us a 2024 1st as well, hit me up.
