The numbers I would have used in the Scrabble thing were from "Lost": 4-8-15-16-23-42.

The entry was 4, 8, 15, 16, then split 23 into 2,3 and split 42 into 4 for the first name double and 2 for the last name double.

Bills GM Beane explains two trades down in 2022 NFL Draft second round - Buffalo Rumblings

The Bills’ GM also mentioned that he could have traded down further, but that wasn’t something that he wanted to do. He didn’t want to go that far back.

To move from 57 to 60, the Bills should have received the equivalent of a fifth-round pick according to the Jimmy Johnson chart, but a sixth-rounder per the Pats Pulpit chart. They did receive a sixth-rounder, but at 180, it wasn’t enough to balance the scale. It seems like it was Beane getting what he could with multiple players on his board.

The same can be said to move from 60 to 63. The spread is equal to a high sixth-round pick on the Jimmy Johnson chart (24 points) or a mid-sixth according to the Pats Pulpit chart, but Buffalo got back a late sixth-rounder selection instead.

It just shows you that trades are approximate and the Bills were motivated to move down, or at least unmotivated to make the pick.

I agree here... especially when the pickings are slim, but the demand was high for the Falcons. Not a bad draft at all for the ATL.

Is there anyone left on the Georgia defense that hasnt been drafted?

So two DB's and a DL. The Bengals are pretty sure they solved their o-line problems and need to focus on the pass defense game with all three picks. Zach Carter isn't a run defense specialist. He is a QB rush first DE.

The Cowboys are quietly putting together a very solid draft.

And Byron Leftwich was absolutely right to tell Khan to shove it if he didn't fire Baalke.

17 Los Angeles Chargers: Zion Johnson - OG, Boston College

It's a simple and safe move for the Chargers to make additions on the line to protect their franchise quarterback (someone should tell Baalke you're allowed to do this) and they get a quality player in Zion to do just that. Early on, it feels like Los Angeles is going to take the slow and steady approach to putting themselves at the top of the AFC West.

18 Tennessee Titans: Treylon Burks - WR, Arkansas

After trading away A.J. they immediately go after his replacement. I know that some are viewing this as a huge downgrade, or simply a total fuck up on Tennessee's part, but I think there is a bit of long game being played here. Try and follow this logic, if you can... (I swear I'm sober this morning)

The Titans may have come to the full realization at the end of last season that Tannehill is simply not the guy that is going to get them past the killers at quarterback in the AFC. Signing Brown, with his bit if an injury history, to a long term deal may have other cap ramifications that they have already taken into consideration. As an example - Tennessee, at it's core, is a ground based running attack/stout defense team that fully embraces that as their identity. Being able to add another talented receiver for 5 years (probably 4 with how WRs are forcing the market to change) gives them an extended window to sign other parts long term on the roster that helps continue to build off of that identity.

Now, when they have the chance to improve quickly at passer (may have sneakily done that with Willis), the Titans will continue to have a strong roster in place with a ton of cap flexibility to sign a high priced veteran arm, if needed.

It's never a positive to trade away one of the best players at his position in the league, but I think I can understand some of the thought process that might have played a part in the decision.

19 New Orleans Saints: Trevor Penning - OT, Northern Iowa

The Saints continue to have a solid first round by adding a stud to the offensive line. Jameis Winston is going to have a solid enough set around him this season that the Saints will be able to make a quick decision on whether or not they need to chase a passer next offseason.

I like Penning quite a bit and can see him passing up some of the bigger names that went before him when all is said and done with.

20 Pittsburgh Steelers: Kenny Pickett - QB, Pitt

I've gotten a lot of messages and questions about this pick, so I might go into a bit more detail on this one, but I'll start with the first thing that popped into my head when I read Pickett was the selection -

"The city of bridges just added another one."

If I had to guess the logic on why the Steelers felt comfortable with simply waiting it out to see what was available, then ultimately taking a falling passer, it would probably center around the idea that I believe Colbert likely had the same kind of grade on Pickett that he did on Trubisky and Rudolph when they were coming out. It fills the quarterback room with 3 arms that he would personally consider first rounders (he stated he had Mason graded similar to Mayfield, Darnold, Allen and Rosen). If not for the unfortunate death of Dwayne Washington, Pickett may have never heard his name called in this spot. It's possible that they still would have taken Pickett at #20, but that would have given them basically 4 first round quarterbacks competing in camp. I personally think that is an ideal problem for any franchise to deal with, but it also feels like a gluttony of wealth at one position when there are obvious other positions of need. I think the Steelers are sincere when they say this is an open competition and it is going to be one of the more interesting camp battles to follow this offseason.

This also feels like Pittsburgh continuing on the line of thinking that I had mentioned previously in the 'Random Opinions' thread. Now, no matter how things shake out for the Steelers at signal caller over the next 4-5 seasons, they are guaranteed to have some form of low cost bridge passer while they continue to build out the roster and look to identify their next franchise quarterback.

21 Kansas City Chiefs: Trent McDuffie - CB, Washington

This is a solid 'go up and get' for the Chiefs, and when you tie it in with the idea of how they handled their next pick...

Yep, the Chiefs are doing well in this draft.

My father (81) called me yesterday to ask why the Browns haven't picked anyone yet. I reminded him of the Watson trade and explained why we don't have any 1st rounders for the next couple drafts. I even said that there's a good chance that we could trade down in an effort to regroup some draft stock for future drafts. So he understood, but he still wanted to know who I thought the Browns were going to take in the second round. I told him it will likely be a WR or DT but ya never know. That wasn't good enough, he was demanding names, knowing I'm really into the draft. He lives in an assisted living retirement community, and he's doing what dad's do, telling them all how I'm, in his own words, "An expert at knowing what players are going to go to what teams." lol! So he wanted my 3 best guesses for Browns pick at #44, and was ready to write shit down. So finally I dropped David Ojabo, George Pickens and Travis Jones on him. I can't wait to hear what he has to say today now that Ojabo and Jones went to the hated Ravens, and Pickens went to the even more hated Steelers. While our first two picks were a CB and EDGE. lol!

I think that is it and I wouldn't be surprised with all the Georgia scouting on D someone found someone else they liked that wasn't expected to be drafted.

And the Jets' draft is done before the halfway mark which in this year's draft and with the draft they've had is a great strategy. I love what the Eagles have done but it's HARD for anyone to top the Jets. I would give the Eagles a personal A+ but the Jets can get an S like the video games.
