It was only a matter of when, for both the DBs and eventually TE. Makes me glad I took the CB early for Chicago and the TE early for Denver.
This is just fun. He won't like me mentioning, but turf_toe and Tampa got sniped on Dulcich. I thought for sure Turf was then going to turn around and snipe me on Ruckert. lol! I'm very glad he went different direction... Tindall was not a bad pick at all though.
I like Dulcich a lot as well. He fits what KC does really well. Kolar and the other guy I have on my list did too. Fortunately, I don’t see a big enough difference in Dulcich and Kolar to fret and was more than happy to get a guy who I believe will have an opportunity to be a really good player in the league.
I didn't really dig into this year's TE class the way I usually do. But there's nearly always such a big difference in the skill sets that you almost have to break it down into three groups - the traditional TE, the WR in disguise, and the H-back group.
Ruckert (#1 HS TE in the country when he was recruited) is a better version of Dalton Schultz.... That's the closest comparison I can think of.
Along those lines, I grabbed the Spiller when I could for Denver because he was the main RB in that area of the draft who had the specific skill set that I wanted. I don't know if he'll go sooner or later in the real draft, but I knew that if I missed out on Spiller it would have been a significant hit to my plans for the Broncos. It pretty much HAD to be him.
For TEs, I kinda like the H-back types. Use them almost like a pulling guard for outside runs to either side, slip them out into holes in zone coverage as outlet receivers, or let them channel their inner fullback and hammer an incoming blitzer in pass protection. For whatever reason they don't seem to be popular with most OCs though.
Don’t feel like shit-talking anyones picks. Actually watched Alex Wright kinda late in the process. But both Colts and Niners have interviewed him. He has great size. Definitely developmental and I’m curious if I’m in the right range or if he ends up more like 6-UDFA. But I like him around the 4th. The run has been so savage it is what it is.
