Ford is going to have to pick a new number, but I think he has much more in common with Nick Chubb than just that. His highlight reel goes on and on...It's pretty spectacular. With Hunt and D'Ernest on the final years of their deals, the pick makes sense. Damn do we have a loaded backfield in Cleveland! We've had some great tandems over the years but I can't remember the Browns having more quality depth at RB than they do now.
I got into one of the dumbest debates this weekend with my son in law. He debated we should think about trading Chubb since he has mutliple years on his contract and we could get at least one first round draft pick. I said if anyone were to get traded, it needed to be Hunt. Absolutely no way they should consider trading Chubb. If someone cam along and wanted to give Hunt an extended contract and give us proper compensation, I would absolutely consider it. He's had injuries two of the three seasons he's been here and he has his checkered past that I never liked to begin with. His argument is that he is a better receiver out of the backfield... WHAT??!! That's your reasoning for preferring to trade arguably one of the top 3 running backs in the entire league?
Players respect Nick Chubb as much as anyone in that locker room. Trading him would send a terrible message IMO. He's quiet and humble and just happens to be the best RB in in football. I want to see Chubb retire as a Cleveland Brown some day. He's already become one of my favorite Cleveland Browns of all time. It's arguably the most physically punishing position in sports, so having a stable of very capable RB's is never a bad thing.
It is kind of funny. Obviously because of the Mayfield situation, Boomer Sooner Nation has been hating on the Cleveland Browns for weeks now. So what does Andrew Berry do? Goes out and grabs three more Sooners in the draft. lol!
The ravens and Steelers have 2 of the best kickers in league history and they both still bring in extra kickers to help with some of the camp kicking duties. Why would they cut all the other kickers off your roster in the off-season?
I didn't understand that one either gid... Unless they needed the roster spots for other signings. Kickers are pretty fluid and can come and go as needed.
Not sure how much validity there is in any of it, but lots of speculation that the Browns might package Baker with Kareem Hunt in an effort to get a deal done... The problem I see with that is, both players are on the final year of their contracts. If we are already having trouble finding a suitor for Mayfield because team's have salary cap concerns, how is adding Kareem Hunt to the mix going to help?
