That little fuckers legs don't stop driving, he's amazing to watch after contact. Apparently, Lazor must have put his own special in, 3rd down and throwing to the sticks, and now I'm going to have Chinese tonight.
I definitely noticed this a lot. The D is moving a LOT, and when the other team audibles, I notice they are adjusting too. They'll show blitz, QB audibles, LB immediately drops back after the snap, kind of thing. There's no doubt Desai is helping them out, but also Quinn chasing down a RB from behind? That's him just flat out playing better.
My thoughts: 1. At times, the Raiders straight up looked like the Lions. Missing wide open guys by two miles, WRs dropping balls. Credit to the defense for them seeing ghosts, but a good team bounces back. Like the goddamn Packers next week. 2. We did get overly conservative, and 20 points (14 before the very end) isn't going to win many games, but I don't mind the game plan so much to help build Fields confidence. Pass blocking wise, this line still leaves a bit to be desired. More upsetting, is the lack of adjustments after the half. Clearly the Raiders adjusted to what the Bears were doing and they stopped them well. Lazor or Nagy, we need halftime and in-game adjustments to deal with what the defense is giving you. 3. I know the Raiders tend to be a dirty team, but fucking hell guys, do not retaliate. Edwards 2nd penalty was egregious. 4. Along the same lines, this was a pretty 'chippy' game, but where the refs chose to enforce things were head scratching sometimes. Overall the Bears got the better of the penalty game I think, but it still is frustrating to watch flag-ball. 5. This defense has recovered. They are a decent unit no doubt. But they are not going to be able to single handedly win every game, and some games they will lapse. We need much, much more from our Offense. 6. I absolutely did like how this team responded to getting punched in the mouth this time, they came back and started punching themselves. There was some real fire this game and it was refreshing to see. All this said, it doesn't change a whole lot of my opinion on this team. They beat the Packers next week I will change my tune a bit, but the last time we won against them was 3 fucking seasons ago. Since 2011, we've won 3 games, only one of which Rodgers was healthy for. A goddamn decade and 3 wins. 3-19 in that timeframe. The Packers might be overrated, but take this same performance today against them and we will lose. There is no forcing Rodgers to 7 3 and outs in a row.
With a real NFL offense....this is a defensive unit that can win you a title. With the offense the Bears currently have....this is a defense that you win some games with and others, like you said, they will lapse and we will lose big. Basically the same thing we've been seeing for decades.
Amen. Unfortunately I don't see any scenario where we win. Last year I'm almost certain they scored on every single possession they had against us in 2 games, minus the kneel downs. We've scored 30 points against them twice in the last 30 years. Both games were aided by multiple defensive/ST TDs. We haven't scored more than 24 this year. Shit I hate being such a killjoy but honestly I'd rather this week be over as quickly as possible.
We ended Andrew Luck's career? That win yesterday is looking less impressive now that all this is coming out. Raiders may end up with one of the worst records in the league.
Less impressive, but I believe Sam Bradford's last start was week 3 or 4 in 2018 against the bears. Barfey was the star of the game, probably why its easy to forget.
This is really the long and short of it. We've beaten "good" teams like the Raiders before while the underdog - hell we beat the Super Bowl champion Bucs last year, but the Packers have some kind of fucking voodoo curse allowing them to execute to perfection every time they play us. Nothing I have seen tells me this weekend will be any different. Can we sacrifice a goat or destroy the bartman ball or something, I've really had enough of this crap. I mean Favre was 22-10 against the Bears, Rodgers is 20-5! Difference is Rodgers doesn't really look like he's slowing down, so the best we can hope for is he really does leave the division.
Regarding Gruden. The main conspiracy being floated is that Mark Davis/Raiders wanted to fire him, and knowing Gruden was close to Bruce Allen and knowing the WFT is being investigated now, used this as a way to dig up dirt on Gruden. Being realistic, do we think Gruden is the only NFL person with some off-color/offensive words in his private emails? I'm pretty sure the entire WFT could be taken down if the contents of their personal emails were exposed. But they aren't exposed. Why is that?
To be realistic I don't think there is a person that walks this earth that hasn't expressed in some way, shape, or form off-color remarks or behavior of some kind at some point in their lives. I used to think a lot differently than I do now, and I've said and done many things in the past I regret today, and I regret these things not because they've been exposed, but because I'm no longer in that mindset.
I feel the same as you in this regard. And I'm sure many others do as well. A few years ago I went through my facebook and wiped it clean, there was so much crap from when I was in college that I posted that I'm not proud of. My thing is why Gruden and why now? It just seems strange given the timing and the fact that he's the only one being exposed. And for the record I don't like digging through someone's history to expose them to a public lynching. He who is without sin cast the first stone.
My record is spotless. Or maybe it's just so tarnished that no one would care what they found in my past.
I should have known you would be the exception to the rule, and in other unrelated news, the Bears are going to the Super Bowl.
Always good to get a win. Unfortunately I think we will need to take the positives we can out of this offense and hopefully move on next season with an actual NFL coach who runs actual NFL offense. It is criminal that the only thing Nagy and Lazer are doing to help Fields is runnng the ball. The passing game is the same shit Nagy always runs. So much like Trubisky’s first season under Fox we take the positives that we can and hope for the future. This defense is good. In a year where there seems to be no dominating defenses. The secondary will still be exposed by better offenses. As for the Gruden stuff. I think it was leaked by someone who wants the whole report opened to the public. The Gruden stuff was to bring attention back to the fact there actually was an investigation. Now that the first lamb has been sacrificed the media pressure will be relentless.
