Continuing my inaugural off-season and alteration of my inherited roster: I took a hard look at the team I inherited and thought it was a bit weak to challenge for a title. So I thought I’d make some moves to add draft picks and build a monster more slow and methodical.

First big trade was trading Travis Kelce for Joey Bosa and an extra 1st round pick (9 if I recall). I had Kelce already in my other dynasty league and half made that move just to “do it different”. I stand by that decision. My big mistake was what I did with that pick afterwards.

Second big trade was moving Robert Woods to gain Jaylon Smith and Eric Ebron. I was really trying to build my defense up to give me a solid core, trusting myself to draft stud offensive players down the road. And I didn’t trust Woods to continue his high level of play. May have been a miscalculation on my part, but I won’t call it a mistake. Still really like Jaylon. Still have Ebron also.

I made a couple lower-key good trades to start out. Adrian Peterson for CJ Mosley.
Moved Royce Freeman + 3rd to acquire two 2nds. (Became Devin Bush and Drew Lock)

So as I said, the one mistake I couldn’t possibly argue was I got caught chasing backups to players I already had rostered. Spent that extra 1st on...drumroll...Darwin Thompson, future Andy Reid “I can make any RB a star” superstar. I inherited Damien Williams and all the post draft hype helped convince me that Thompson might be the future starter. His value kept rising and to make matters worse I didn’t wait until round 2 like I should have because I thought someone might jump me. That was at 9. Took Devin Singletary at 6.

So in summation, I made an early mistake (maybe 2), but I’m still building a pretty good team. Just taking the scenic tour to the top.
