Agreed 100%. Especially vets that have popular jersey's..... At first I disliked the new rule on numbers being more flexible, but now I like it. Who really cares? Yes, back in the day, those numbers used to help us identify the position of the player slightly quicker, but does any of that matter now? No. On GMFB this morning they brought up something that I've been wanting to see forever, or at least since Ken Burrough retired. Bring back the 0 and the double 00.
Crazy Crextin’s Mad Musings: 2021 Draft recap, the Good the Bad the Ugly: The Good: The Browns were in a position to take the BPA when they selected rather than reach for a player of need. Greg Newsome II - Given Ward and Williams’s injury history I was not surprised by this pick. In today’s NFL adding a third starting CB is a must. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah - A player that was reportedly a top 15-20 pick and a few mocks had him a bit higher. Love the move to get him when they did. When researching LB’s for this draft this is the guy I kept coming back around to IMHO the perfect fit for what the Browns need. I envision him as in that hybrid S/LB role similar to Barron with the Rams several years ago. Anthony Schwartz – The only plyer that I thought might be a bit of a reach. Mostly what I know about the kid is that he has speed, speed, and more speed. I see a guy that is definitely a diamond in the rough for sure. If the WR coaches, and veterans, can coach him up and he develops some sticky paws he’ll be a dangerous weapon for Mayfield. James Hudson – This is the future starting RT. Just needs to develop and adjust to the speed of the NFL. Tommy Togiai – Buckeye homers have to like this pick. He reminds me a lot of Ahtyba Rubin. Here is a guy that will develop into a quality rotational starter for the front seven. If he continues to develop his pass rush he could be a 3-down player. Tony Fields II, Richard LeCounte, Demetric Felton, All guys with a shot to make the roster but will not be surprised if they all end up on the practice squad. The Bad: They didn’t take a DE. (I’m not trying to stir the pot here, too much.) Even with the addition of McKinley, I’m just not feeling as good about depth behind Clowney and Garrett. (Also wondering, Is next year’s DE class that much better?) The Ugly: All three division Rivals had quality drafts as well. The road to the playoffs will be difficult and challenging. Improving on last season’s win total will take work and dedication by the entire Browns team. Don’t blink folks but the AFCN is probably once again the toughest division in the NFL. My guess is that teams question his work ethic and desire to compete and play at the next level. 23 reps on the bench…. Kinda light for an interior DT that needs to plug gaps and push the pocket. Most reports I’ve seen say he’s got potential but his 2020 tape indicates steep decline in effort and production over his previous 2-years. At one point I thought Barry was throwing darts at the board with signing theses DT's But then I remembered that Barry is know for taking chances / giving players with talent a second chance. I actually think the interior of the DL will have a good rotation and a few gems may shine. Hope this finds all my fellow lounge houndz doing well.
Good to hear from ya Crex.... Clearly I'm biased, but I really do think Browns crushed the AFCN in this draft.....The Bengals blew it IMO by not taking Penei Sewell. It'll be hard for Burrough to find Chase when he's on his back or running for his life. The Browns front 7 should be licking their chops when they line-up against Cinci. They had a chance to protect his blindside for the next decade or so, but the old LSU college connection was too enticing. Mistake IMO..... Though I like Najee Harris, I thought Pittsburgh should have addressed the O-line in round 1 as well. They have several holes to fill in Pittsburgh, and at more important positions than RB. Plus there's the fact that they could have got a quality RB like Sermon, Carter etc. a couple rounds later, anyways. Steelers were transparent on this one, so it was easy to see coming, but I'm still not sure it was the right way to go........ As mentioned earlier, I was underwhelmed with both Ravens 1st round picks, and that was actually documented before the draft. Baltimore just happened to take two players I wasn't high on as 1st rounders... We'll see how it plays out, but IMO CLE clearly had the best draft of the AFCN teams...Everyone knew the Browns were going defense and Andrew Berry didn't disappoint. In round one he patiently waited for the board to fall right too him, and then pounced on Gregory Newsome a highly coveted player. Then AB arguably landed the steal of the draft in JOK after trading up to pick #52. And I'm not just saying that, PFF called it "The steal of the draft.". A player most experts had in their top 15 overall, if Berry had taken Owusu-Koramoa with his first pick, it would have been considered a great pick... Both speedy versatile defenders will make an immediate impact on the Browns defense. The Dawg Pound will be off the chain this year.

I'm surprised they didn't address the position either, but when guys like Payton Turner and Joe Tryon came off in the first round, it was clear that NFL front offices figured this was a down year for edge defenders. I'm sure there will be a stud or two come out of the middle rounds, but that's more luck and situation than anything else. I think part of the F/O's reasoning is to determine if either Takkarist or Jadeveon earn long-term deals in the system. Takk isn't without talent, he's just never been coached up to achieve it or healthy enough to prove it. Clowney feels like much more of a lease since he's a much more recognizable name, but if he puts up the numbers, the contract will come. And yeah, worst case if we address the position in 2022. A couple names to watch this upcoming season... 1. Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon 2. Drake Jackson, Southern California 3. Zach Harrison, Ohio State 4. George Karlafitis, Purdue 5. Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan 6. Merlin Robinson, Arizona State 7. Xavier Thomas, Clemson He sucked out loud in 2020 and then got injured is my guess. He was a potential first round pick after 2019 from everything I've read and decided to go back to school. Has to be something there to go from Top 32 to not draftable... The final 53 is going to be an interesting debate for sure. Defensive line and wide receiver, in particular, will be interesting cases.

The new age LB position is called the JOKer...I think Cleveland nailed it. Just my take, but I see one reason why the Browns focused on ultra-fast LB's like JOK and Tony Fields;

Again, not Browns draft, but draft-related. I had lost this in all the craziness during the draft run-up. While they were disparaging his work ethic, processing speed, and love for the game, all Fields did was score the highest ever on the aptitude test given to over 6,000 athletes across all major sports: The one, and only, team in the Top 10 picks who was justified in passing on Fields was Cincinnati who just drafted Burrow #1 overall last year.
