That's probably because there are no future contract years into which to push the money.

Did you try selecting "Extension" ?

Mosley can’t be restructured either. Too many years remaining

  3. TopDawg Legend

I did not. Isn't gonna mean much for me anyway. All my money players still have 3 years on their deals. At least as far as the Raiders are concerned.

    I appreciate the help.

    Food for thought for future GMO's . . .

Perhaps we should exclude players in the last year of their contract for Restructuring/Extensions and only permit players with 2 or 3 years left on their contract. That might get this element at least closer to reality.

    Feedback welcomed.

Unfortunately, "reality" is crazy shit like those automatically voided years, so "realistic" and "easy" are mutually exclusive terms.

I don't have a sure-fire solution (although I do have ideas), but NOT being able to extend a player about to enter his final contract year doesn't strike me as realistic. We should aim to protect that, even if we have to create a separate rule/process for handling it.

A good example of why we kind of need to keep the extension an option is me with the Rams. They paid two first rounders to get Ramsey on their team, and I have no doubt they plan to keep him. He’s the guy I restructured/extended and I guarantee they’ll pay to keep him.

At least for cases such as his it needs to remain an available option. It’s as likely, or more likely than some of the restructures we see

For guys with 2 years left do we use "restructure" or "extension" as the cap savings number. I mean I *may* not bother to use this at all but if I go whole hog I could rebuild my roster entirely here lol.

Restructure -or- Extend is your choice.

The Browns have decided NOT to extend Christian Kirksey's contract. (IRL they actually cut him on 3/10)

The new Total Cap Savings is now $12,005,700

  15. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

    Falcons extend Alex Mack
    Savings per OTC = $5,560,000

I'm in a bind on Desmond Trufant. The real team released him. I want to keep and extend him instead. He should be eligible, as per OTC his Falcons contract would have ended with the 2021 season.

The problem is that OTC doesn't display the calculator for his Falcons contract. But in truth, I would not want to be as extreme as OTC would typically allow anyway, so I'm quite happy with doing the calculation myself and only taking a limited savings.

His base salary is $10.75 million. An extension could potentially convert something like 9 million - 9.5 million of that to bonus, and a three year extension with $9 million converted would generate $7.2 million in cap savings.

I would not go that far, as I generally prefer to avoid setting myself up for future disaster. I would only convert $6 million to prorated bonus, keeping the remaining $4.75 million as base salary on this year's cap. I would also limit the extension to 2 years (through the 2023 season).

With $6 million of this year's base converted to prorated bonus over four seasons, that would be $4.5 million pushed out to future years (and as cap savings this year).

Does that calculation work for the mods? (I'll take the $7.2 million if I really, really have to...)
