BINGO. Five DBs plus Jones and Queen should be a truly terrifying back seven. It's also a true Thomas Dimitroff / Dan Quinn style pick. Fast, physical, somewhat undersized LB with serious upside potential. That's Quinn. Is it a reach here? Dimitroff wouldn't give a rat's ass if it is. It's also apparently some kind of state law here that the Falcons are required to draft players from LSU in at least three drafts out of every five.
We have had conversations about this debate many times, and they’re always enjoyable. That’s why I like my version of BPA. I’ll take the Colts for example, and I don’t want to force a pick at one or two positions. So I’ll look at the roster of let’s say 22 starters. Then I’ll narrow it down to 5-6 spots where we could really stand to improve, and within those position groups I will go BPA. Can I say I’ve ever truly handled the draft through all seven rounds going strictly best player available? Probably not. And at its core I feel like this is actually what most teams do.
I tried to trade up earlier for Lamb for the hell of it but my actual target is still on the board. Now the wait may actual be a while lol.
Also noteworthy... since I decided not to get into a bidding war to keep Campbell (should have, as he ended up going so cheap that I wouldn't even get a comp pick for him next year), I only had two LBs on my roster heading into the draft. LB was the top draft need under this GMO scenario, and Dimitroff is a pure needs GM.
I have to laugh at myself here. Since there had been no trade activity at all, I didn't even check my inbox before posting my pick. My loss, and my serious error, as everyone here knows how I just HATE to trade down. lol.
Technically, you have until 6:00pm. However, if you grind this to a halt until then - I can think of about 20 guys who would probably hunt you down like a dog.
He's rumored to be one of the pass rushers that can crack the top 15 and it's a position that needs to be stabilized in Dallas. Personally, I still have work to go on my rankings for every position but Gross-Matos is sitting in a spot with 5 other EDGE players that potentially translates to a first round grade.
Dallas arguably needs Edge the most and the one expected to go there went early (and if you only like one of them then why not take him earlier. That's what Will seemed to do). Gross-Matos is arguably next one up and near the front end of his expected draft range. I don't call it a reach but a little surprising... albeit it was one of the 2 guys I expected there.... well 3 but I can't talk about that.
