Personally, I always thought Florida's pick was going to be Knight. And I think I wanted it to be Knight. But I also think this team desperately needed a Dman, and I would've felt more calm and contented if they had taken one. The problem is that he won't see the NHL for two to three years. So, while he may be the solution of the future, the Panthers still have a very big hole in the present. How they manage that scenario is going to be monumentally impactful for the next 5-10 years. Do you sign a star goalie (Bobrovsky) to an 8 year deal, creating a problematic overlap when Knight is ready? Or do you sign a more unproven goalie for four years, but risk that you waste those years with a subpar goalie? No news yet on whether or not Lu is retiring. I don't think he will. Panthers said they'll know before the draft, but it hasn't come out yet, so who knows. They're trying to move Reimer. Monty looks like backup quality, but couldn't be hurt with more AHL seasoning. Knight is a big swing - he gives the team potential to be great for a decade, or to be stuck in mediocrity for the next five years. Time will tell.
Kenny Holland already at war in edmonton over the Broberg pick. Sad that his legacy might take a beating there as many others have already.
These people who don't watch all the games seem to have all the answers today. -Ken Holland It seems he isn't used to being second guessed by fans and media.
Holland knows what he is doing..........Chill out Oiler Fans. Lets re-view Drafts in the past 10 years. 2010...........# 1 pick Hall 2011...........# 1 pick Nugent-Hopkins 2012...........# 1 pick Yakupov 2015...........# 1 pick McDavid 4 of the last 10 Drafts the Oilers have had the # 1 pick overall PLAYOFFS ZERO............Nothing. Maybe Holland is going to take this team in a different direction.
I understand how they feel...........and was shocked when Holland signed with them......I thought he was going to go too Seattle. But Chill...........they will make the playoff's.
He got a free ride in Detroit. I wonder what he expected in Edmonton. I cant believe these people are bitching already, im almost kinda enjoying it.
Oiler fans have had enough, not an easy undertaking. At least he was protected by his past success with the Wings, in Edm nobody cares.
Kenny Hollands name was gold in 2009, not so easy rebuilding as your star players begin to retire one by one.
Looking forward to 2020, Alexis Lafreniere (Rimouski) still looks like he'll go #1. "He reminds me of Gilbert Perreault. He can skate, handle the puck. He's just around the puck so much. When you have that much puck sense, that much speed, I can see him being a center at the next level." -Wayne Gretzky Supposed to be a pretty good class next year, more evenly distributed talent throughout the leagues, says Dan Marr the director CSB.
A name Ive read about that couldve been a steal for someone is Tag Bertuzzi, son of............a bitch, you know who his dad is! anyway, this kid has been injured and hasnt had a full season in Jr yet. Next season he'll also be draft eligible and if he can stay healthy theres a very good chance he rockets up the draft board for 2020. wish the Broonz took a late round flier on the kid this year. that mullet is worth a late round pick itself.
