Matt, there were a couple technical errors that caused the issue with times today and yesterday. That being said it was a whole GMO thing for a while. No shows made it very complicated. The official mock will have times posted well in advance so everyone knows when they pick from the get go.
Admittedly I completely forgot today was the draft as well. I got into work started a project, wrapped up and said "I should check out what's going on" to walking into myself on the clock. The GMO has been a weird one this year with real life getting in the way for a lot of folks.
Besides the financial benefits in the way his contract was constructed, my main reason for not dealing Carr is that I don't want Haskins to be overwhelmed. He's a fantastic prospect, but his experience is all that I worry about. Not a lot of games under his belt... Carr is clearly not popular in this forum, but I do believe in real life, he's worth much more than a throw away late round pick....With the new weapons at his disposal in Oakland, I think he can be successful.
Mods - a verdict? I have a huge self-interest here, as I got auto-sniped by a pick that didn't even fit his roster needs. I do have a #2 choice in mind so I'm okay either way, but I need to know if I'm taking Sweat or my #2 choice.
I was caught off guard too - I checked in during the time when this thread had magically disappeared. Since it wasn't there, I had assumed that we weren't starting the draft yet. I would never have known it really was on had I not seen messages in another thread about the glitch.
Again, like last year, I always check the schedule, where it should be posted not just in this thread, second this thread never became bold with new messages so with my job working 12 hours and only scrolling through very briefly for new stuff. It isn't that simple of when it was posted, just how. If we have a schedule thread then it should be there front and center. Not TBD. Second, I posted this morning I was hanging around so I wasn't completely inactive and until Lyman messaged me after the auto draft I had no clue, so no one thought to even message me when i hit the clock, just treat me like another inactive member.
Yes. The next was an auto that wouldn't change and Tim was taking his guy no matter what. We are good.
I dont mean to be an A** but it doesnt make sense to have a schedule thread and not post it in the schedule thread. Just using my own logic, sorry if it is wrong.
The glitches in the system today have messed everybody up. There was one attempt to ping you earlier (before the autopick) but it might not have gone through. But if it helps, you did get Jonah Williams and not the auto-pick.
Okay, Matt. I'm calling Bullshit here. You even responded to a notice in the GMO Discussion thread so don't even claim you didn't know when this draft started.
The contract and timing make his value less. Teams have to be able to absorb a 20 million dollar cap hit after they have already made their free agency moves. But let's say in a hypothetical world a starting QB goes down in training camp -- that would spike his value back up. Player for pick trades are a huge market inequity in the NFL. You almost never get a good return for the players actual worth to a team because of contract implications. In the case of Rosen -- his super cheap contract elevates his trade value. You have him for 3 years and about $7 million in total. In Carr's case the sizable contract commitment (though not actually that big for a starting QB once traded) works against his value.
Falcons select Montez Sweat, DE, Mississippi State. I'll keep the identity of my second choice a secret in case he falls and doesn't get auto-sniped later...
I responded to something that said we needed to get it going and that only 9 GM's had responded. Not that, hey I knew the draft was today
