Nah, he was just teasing RT about putting in four vet min bids on guys who are just hitting free agency for the first time in their careers. For that matter, I shouldn't have bothered with the vet min thing on Justin Hardy myself. I'll fix that... Falcons bid Justin Hardy $805,000 (NOT vet min) previous bid: Falcons bid Justin Hardy $805,000 (vet min)
In that case... Falcons rescind non vet min bid on Justin Hardy Falcons bid Justin Hardy $805,000 (vet min)
You thought so? I didn’t take it that way. I have three teams. They bid on 1/1/2 vet min deals. That doesn’t seem excessive. I think Joe was just lamenting that it has felt a bit easy to win some of these bids. But it is what it is. Work within the confines of the exercise. I would have thought C.J. Mosley hitting free agency was unrealistic...but that actually happened. Two of the games top 4 WRs were traded IRL this off-season. This game is getting stranger by the year.
It was my first reaction when I read it - in the posts immediately before it, you and I had both specifically put in vet min bids on young guys who would not likely be vet min signings in real life. I figured he was joking (not complaining - joking) about the bargains we're going after since no one else seems to be around. Not that anybody is likely to get in a bidding war over Justin Hardy anyway, but you get the idea. I mainly just wanted to let TD know that Joe was definitely NOT referring to him in any way on that one.
Sad to think how far Andy Levitre has fallen in this exercise from one season to the next. Last year I cut him to free up cap space, and there was an instant bidding war as soon as I released him. This year he was available as a free agent all along, but no one wanted a 33-year old zone-specific guard coming back from his third injury-plagued season in the last four years. He wasn't in my plans either, but for vet min pricing he's a nice insurance policy to have on the bench.
Falcons bid Logan Paulsen $930,000 (vet min) Falcons bid James Carpenter $1,000,000 Falcons bid Luke Stocker $930,000 (vet min) Falcons bid Jamon Brown $1,000,000
One more that the real Falcons had signed that I had overlooked: Falcons bid RB Kenjon Barner $805,000 (vet min)
