Filene's Basement is fully open for business. Falcons bid Justin Hardy $805,000 (vet min) Nobody else wanted him in real life either, so today he resigned on the cheap with the real life Falcons.
Colts officially sign C/G Nick Easton Cowboys officially sign WR John Brown Redskins officially sign G A.J. Cann and OT Cedric Ogbuehi
It sucks that so many teams aren't active. I'm trying not to take advantage of that with a million cheap signings. Not pointing to anyone but I'm not trying to sign on the cheap like crazy. Not pointing finger nor would I blame anyone if I was.
I wonder who he's referencing? lol! You should probably be more upset with those that aren't playing, as opposed to those that are, but in my defense, the Raider roster was a complete dumpster fire, so if I can revamp with better players at less cost, that's what I'm doing... What else should I do, just let the better players sit there on the wire while my team is buried in over priced under achievers? I look at it as I have one mission. Build a team that can compete for a championship...If it doesn't mirror real life, I'm okay with that. It's still fun. I get into this. I do wish all 32 were into it as intently, but what can we do? I honestly didn't expect to have anywhere near this much time to assess everything, but a combination of bad weather and good fortune at work has allowed me to dive in full force on this Raiders project. My plan keeps evolving the more time I invest, and I enjoy it. At first I was just throwin names out so I could get in some bidding, thinking the market would be much busier... FWIW; I'm done...lol! Got a couple more bids out, but I won't bid on any others. ... Still with four picks in the first 35, Oakland is definitely going to have a new look. A Super Bowl look. Maybe we can re-match SB XV, Joe....
Note: It would be a lot more fun if every team was playing. No doubt about that.... I've cut a bunch of pricey "talent" off the Raider roster. It's kind of telling that not one bid has been placed on any of them....If say, the Philadelphia Eagles tried something like this, it wouldn't be the same. The players would be getting scarfed up right and left, and you'd have difficulty finding improvements anyway. In all honesty, I played it very similar with the Chargers last year. When everything was said and done, adding up all my trades, acquisitions and releases, it came to about 30 transactions...This year, I'm at the same number. I just haven't been able to put together nearly as many trades, because there aren't as many participants.
I guess I just look at the entire exercise from a different viewpoint than most, so I apologize if I've tainted the realism of it all...There is just one other thing, and then I'll drop it....How was I supposed to know that nobody was gonna bid with me on some of these acquisitions? I kept getting players under the money, so I kept the pedal down...
Dawg, if I read him right (a) he wasn't referencing you and (b) he was only joking with someone else.
I'm not upset or anything. Don't mean to come across that way. I just get into this GM NFL team building thing. I'm sure he was referring to me with the "million signings" line. lol! I have signed a few. ..... The thing is, Joe is 100% right. It would be a lot better if everyone was involved.
I wasn't pointing a finger at anyone. It's all because people aren't active. I am just saying I am gonna take it easy because I dont expect as many signings on the cheap if they were active. And that it isn't the fault of the active people that they can sign more.
