I honestly thought people would bid against me on Daryl Williams and Nsekhe was my backup. He's older but low miles and has always performed whenever he got plugged in. A steal at $1,000,000 per season.
Not sure where to mention coaching moves, so I'll list these here and in the general discussion thread: Falcons hire Bill Musgrave to the position of Offensive Passing Game Coordinator. (It's a weird role, but the real life team actually has it. Even stranger, that role is currently held by Raheem Morris, a defensive coach. I'm moving Morris back over to defense.) Falcons hire Hue Jackson (you're welcome, America) as wide receivers coach.
Per a PM between myself, @Tim ,@RTTRUTH and @LAOJoe . . . Veteran Minimum bids can be placed starting Now !
Remember! It's not first come first served. If there are multiple vet min offers to the same player then the last team a player was with keeps the rights. If they don't bid then it goes to random lottery at time of signing. Of course it all becomes moot if someone raises the bid so the vet min no longer applies. Vet min will only apply for the base salary and not vet min+bonus allowances.
Last year we used a tight basketball game to decide one lol. By coincidence the basketball teams involved were from the same city of the football teams trying for the player.
Well, I was just about to announce my signing, but If I'm understanding the veteran minimums correctly, than I need to up my bid on WR Dwayne Harris from $800,000 to $930,000 (vet min).... Does this require another 48 hour wait, or can I go ahead and sign him? There were no other bids...
Well his first bid was illegal since it was too cheap so you'll have to put him in again. And any vet min bid before vet min bidding opened are just on hold with no clock until it does open.
VETERAN MINIMUM BENEFITS When qualified, a player with four (4) or more years of NFL experience can earn his total minimum salary, but have a cap figure that reflects two years of experience – or in 2019, $645,000. The contract must be for only one year, and must not contain combined bonus money (signing, roster, workout) that exceeds $90,000. For instance, let’s pretend Adrian Peterson re-signs with the Washington Redskins in 2019 on a 1 year, minimum salary contract. With 10+ years of experience, he’ll be slotted for a $1,030,000 base salary. Because he has four or more years of experience (11), and is signing a 1 year contract with the minimum base salary, AP qualifies for the veteran cap hit benefit. His 2019 cap figure with the Redskins would be $645,000. Had he received a bonus (signing, roster, workout) up to the maximum $90,000, he would have received a total $1.12M contract, ($1.03M base salary, $90,000 signing bonus), but his cap figure would only be $735,000 (645+90).
