If Thomas is healthy, that's a great signing. If not, that's a horribly overpriced pick up

I assume that this (as always) is pending a physical and clearance. Much like the deal that was voided last year for Ryan Grant.

Honestly, I think the Ryan Grant thing was buyers remorse. He got signed very quickly after the Ravens backed out didn't he?

I think that is true. The Colts signed him pretty straight away. Still, the physical allows us to evaluate the overall signing.

Ryan Grant ended up being a flop in Indy, so the Ravens dodged a nice bullet with that contract. I like the Ingram pick up because he came relatively cheap and should be a nice mentor for Dixon and Edwards.

I am more unsure of Earl Thomas, I know the guy has been an awesome safety in the league, but did the Ravens over-pay him for past accomplishments? That will remain to be seen. If he can play with Range, then we will be just fine though.

I actually like the Thomas signing if he's healthy because he immediately gives back what we lost at safety and then some.

Even though the Ingram signing is cheaper, I hate it more. We already have an inside runner in Edwards and Ingram is basically 30 already. A young, dynamic threat is what the group needed and could have been snagged through the draft. Plus the Ravens are good at developing running backs.

But yeah, Ryan Grant was total buyer's remorse. It was a boneheaded deal from the start.

I also hate the Ingram deal btw

I questioned it at first - why would you pay for a RB when Jackson is going to take a large portion of those touches? But then I realized, aside from the benefits Ingram brings, they're only paying him $5 mil a year. That's really not a big deal. I think that'll pay off.

I tend to agree Dline. I like the Ingram deal in that we will likely get 2 seasons and then release him and he is a good inside runner but also a really nice receiver which is something we could use. If the guaranteed money is not crazy, I would surely see us getting our value out of that one. I am happy they did not go for a longer deal.

As long as Thomas passes the physical and is healthy I like both of these signings. I think the leadership Thomas will bring is what some have noted that we lost with Suggs, Weddle and Mosely departing. As far as the RB position, I think as much as we are anticipating running the ball, we will need a stable of backs to ensure we have healthy legs to tote the rock.

I am ok with both signings and likely we will still get a good comp pick from the Mosely or Smith signings. Thomas will offset one of those but with Suggs and Brown offsetting the Ingram deal, that should align us for a 3rd or 4th round comp pick next year.

I am feeling pretty decent about now. :)

I think Jackson tops out at around 8 carries a season. Roman has a history with athletic QBs (Kaepernick and Tyrod from recent years) and both ran jnder 9 times a game with him as OC.

In terms of Ingram, I just feel the Ravens find solid enough RBs without having to pay for one. Gus Edwards just averaged, I think off memory, 5.2 ypc and that was as an undrafted rookie. Under the current system, he flourished even with bad interior line play (minus Yanda). I understand them getting another RB, but a vet minimum or late round/undrafted rookie to be the #3 likely would have been enough imo

Dorsey likes to trade.. 2018 he traded for both Tyrod Taylor and Jarvis Landry, also inconsequentially Shon Coleman, that preceded this blockbuster for Odell Beckham Junior and Olivier Vernon.

Fair point. I like the fact he has proven track record and knows how to win and has done it. I can see both sides of the debate though.

Jerry Rossburg is retiring, so that's kind of huge news. Without a doubt, he's been our best coordinator through Harbaugh's tenure.

Scratch Bam Bradley off the list of possible contributors. He was released yesterday.

Same with Jaylen Hill. Tons of potential but could never stay healthy

RG3 is sticking around to be Lamar's backup signing a 2 yr deal today. This was expected and I am glad that we have an experienced guy just in case of injury.

I agree here. I like the stability and similarity of this style and fit for us.

As for other needs, I was hoping we would see Houston here as an OLB for us to add some veteran depth to our younger guys, but no such luck. The cupboard is pretty bare as far as OLB and ILB. Looks like Nick Perry and Brandon Marshall are the best available? Not sure I really want to go in either direction as they are expensive and injury prone.

I'm fine with RG3 coming back. I don't think he was nearly as good as people said last year, but he was out of the NFL for a whole season. I think it works in that his style will be similar if called upon.
