You really threw me off there. The Swedish hugger kept popping up from nowhere. I couldn't track him. Then I notice that it was a German all along.

 

Holy shit! You're right. The yellow (shoulder pad area) on the German sweater threw me off.

 

Wonder how coverage of this would've gone if it was Shani Davis instead...

 

did he even race yet ? he caused a big uproar wanted to carry the flag for the US at the opening ceremonies.

 

S. White has some weird tendencies for sure. I didn't think the flag falling in the snow would be a huge deal, but many people are pissed about it.

Some people are idiots and think the flag needs to be burned if it touches the ground. Those are the voices of stupidity you are hearing.

 

I got no big quarrel with him being careless with it in the moment of excitement over winning, per se (truthfully, though, I'd prefer that athletes abide by flag etiquette and not do any of those sorts of displays with it), just found it kinda funny that people lost their friggen minds over the "disrespect of the flag" when a few black NFL players kneeled during the anthem, but when a white athlete representing the country at an international event literally drags it all over God's creation, it's crickets chirping. At least so far as I'd heard...if people were in an uproar about it and I missed it then I retract my original smart-ass comment.

 

The moment he dropped the flag, Twitter erupted. Seconds after he did it.

and the kneeling during the national anthem and what white did are totally different and it wasn't just a few. it was dozens of players.

I didn't see any legitimate news coverage of White and the flag, that's what I'm going by.

US Women win Gold!

 

Congrats. I hate that it went to a shootout but Canada just couldn't do anything on offense 4-on-4. They kept playing like it they had 5 players which meant they turned it over every time they got in the US zone. Canada was bound to lose if the game was extended.

I stayed up and watched the whole thing. now I need a nap! the penalty called with 2 min to go in OT was tough to watch considering the Gold was on the line. The missed elbow to the face was a terrible missed call. The US defenders seemed slow out of their own zone. I chalk it up to just being exhausted. Both teams are very solid. Fun to watch. Two great teams and great representatives for hockey to the world!!

 

Lindsey Vonn with a lead was the last skier to go to clinch a Gold Medal to end her career. 1 min and 50 seconds left in her career. She missed a gate and didn't even medal. Wow. Mykala Schiffrin took Silver. So much for that.

 

We can't even beat you in curling anymore.
