the US Ladies looked great last night. the US men not so much. The OAR team was well equipped with former NHL and KHLers. The US is no match for these guys.
GANGNEUNG, South Korea (AP) -- Ryan Donato scored two goals, Troy Terry had three assists and the United States beat Slovakia 5-1 in the qualification round Tuesday to advance to face the Czech Republic in the Olympic quarterfinals. College kids again led the way for the U.S., which scored more against Slovakia then it did in all three preliminary-round games. James Wisniewski, Mark Arcobello and Garrett Roe also scored for the Americans, who took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play for hits on Donato and goaltender Ryan Zapolski.
Ryan Donato could jump to the pros right after the Olympics, fingers crossed. All signs point to him signing in Boston but if he waits it out he’ll be a UFA this summer. Bruins could package a young roster F (Bjork, Debrusk, Heinen, Acciari etc) for a deadline deal, cough cough McDonagh cough, meanwhile making room for Donato.
Pavel Francouz stopped all five shooters and Petr Koukal scored the shootout winner as the Czech Republic eliminated the United States from the Olympics with a 3-2 victory in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
This has been and continues to be a really interesting and unpredictable Olympics. Norway is beating the crap out of every other country!!
too many damn dekes during the shootout. when in doubt go to the forehand and let it rip. 3 of the shooters basically deked themselves out of room and the goal made easy stops. too bad that shot that hit the post didn't go in.
The 4th reich? With Swedens best in the nhl, makes it a bit more realistic. The country that brought us jochan hect, marco sturm, greiss and seidenberg.
