2018 Season | The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

Oh, I know, it's just that in his 30+ years of coaching, he has never been involved with the defense..

 

If you ask me, the Bengals hired Hue on again just for the fact that they play the Browns twice more. The Bengals are on the bubble of being a playoff team and need all the help they can get. I would assume that Hue knows the defensive plays and signals being used by Gregg. And I'd also assume that Hue knows the playbook Kitchens is calling plays from too. Just looking for an edge against the Browns and looking for 2 more division wins.

Looking at the Bengals remaining schedule the only 2 definitely difficult games are Chargers and Pitt. Then they play the Jekyll & Hyde Browns twice, DEN, OAK, and a struggling BAl team this week.

If they win the "easy" games against DEN, OAK, BAL that gives them 8 wins. And hoping for 2 against CLE gives them 10 wins without worrying about PITT and SD.

 

Believe it or not, Hue's title was Secondary Assistant/Special Teams Coach in 2012 with Cincy....

Same thing that happened when Oakland fired him. Cincinnati added him to the staff without having any open positions, so they just gave him an assistant title.

I'm not sure what Cincinnati (and Marvin Lewis) see in him, but that's their problem now.

 

Hue could tell them how our offense runs, but he never really knew for 2+ yrs so it might not be much help

 

If anything, Hue in natti probably gives you guys the advantage.

Whoring himself out to Cinci, and hoping to talk mgt into making him the next HC. Good luck Hue. Seriously, good luck. We'd love to count those two wins each year.

WTF? You guys are going to interview Condalisa Rice for the head coaching job? What football experience does she have? How can a person not involved in any organized football even get any consideration ? This is insane.

She is NOT being considered for the position..Dorsey made a statement rather quickly when the ridiculous news story broke. I am SHOCKED, only because of where it came from. Adam Schefter must miss his days of breaking stories, this is the type of crap you usually see from some of the more desperate "internet reporters".

I don't doubt there was a conversation in which female coaches were being discussed. I am also certain there was a negative side to the conversation, at which point a leader such as Condoleezza Rice was brought up as being competent to lead the country, and a comment close to - I would give her an interview for the Browns...probably followed by - if she had football experience... which turned into "The Browns want to interview Condoleezza Rice for their Head Coaching vacancy." Which then was re-iterated to Adam Schefter, who then found a second person in the room and confirmed that a conversation took place, which then led to a scintillating headline.



(edit) I think it's telling that Adam Schefter "blamed" ESPN that the source said they want to interview Condi...yet ESPN blamed Adam Schefter's "source"

Here's another theory... John Dorsey doing his due diligence calls the league office to see what the rules are for interviewing and asks if someone currently out of football is able to be interviewed while the season is still going on... League office asks for an example, so Dorsey gives them a name not associated with football... You would never give an actual name, knowing that it could end up leaked...and the idiot took it as, they want to interview her for the HC job...OR, it could actually have been a question as to them reaching out to interview her for another position within the organization and someone got wind and assumed it was for the HC position.

Does ANYONE really believe they were considering her for the HC position? This is the most ridiculous story told this year...maybe, ever...Not because she is a woman, but because she has never coached football at any level in her 64 year life.

 

Wish I could find the article again, but, apparently there is a an in-house leak they were trying to flush out. Only certain people were being told separate stories on the 2019 coaching search. Based on which candidates were revealed through anonymous sources, it would reveal the leak.
