What does it take? Reports are (2) First round draft picks.....For starters.... 1) This is a franchise changing player. 2) WITH him, we might be picking lower than 15 for the first time since 2008 (without trade downs). 3) How many first round picks turn into franchise players each year, odds are, one of the two will not be any more than a contributor at best...a little lower odds say both could be that...Mack is proven 4) The man is hungry to get back to playing football 5) This might be the most important fact of all.... Myles Garrett 22 Trevon Coley 24 Jamie Meder 27 Emmanuel Ogbah 24 Jamie Collins 28 Joe Schobert 24 Christian Kirksey 26 Denzel Ward 21 Jabrill Peppers 22 Damarious Randall 26 Terrance Mitchell 26/E.J. Gaines 26 Other than the GLARING need at LT, we don't have any older players that we MUST replace over the next two drafts... Offense is similar to defense If we dedicated next offseason free agency to signing the best available LT (if one doesn't step up during this season), then the two firsts really don't scare me at all to lose. Who has any other thoughts on this subject?
****Also.... With this trade, Emmanuel Ogbah is expendable... How about something like 2019 first round pick, 2020 2nd round pick and Emmanuel Ogbah? That would be worth more to the Raiders than Two first round picks.
I could be wrong, but I just don't see a lot of teams out there champing at the bit for Dayes. His line before playing against future car salesmen last night: 6 attempts, 16 yards (2.7 YPC), 0 TD.
Dorsey can only make this deal if he can get him signed to an extension. The Browns obviously have the cap space to do it. They could frontload a boatload of money in the first 2 seasons.
If he gets permission from the Raiders, it could probably be done within a few days. That's the least of my worries. Dorsey knows what it will take for a deal, so he wouldn't be in talks with the Raiders if he wasn't willing to pony up the funds. @beachbum do you know, are the Raiders in cap hell? I for the life of me can't understand why they would be willing to let Mack go. It is so hard to find franchise players.
Friday, Aug 31, 2018 03:45 PM ClevelandBrowns.com The Cleveland Browns have made the following 14 transactions. The active roster is currently at 72 players. Prior to 4:00 p.m. ET tomorrow, all NFL teams must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the active list. Terminated contract: WR Jeff Janis Waived: TE Stephen Baggett DB Christian Boutte DB Elijah Campbell OL Anthony Fabiano DL Jeremy Faulk OL Avery Gennesy OL Fred Lauina QB Brogan Roback DB Derron Smith DL Blaine Woodson Waived/Injured: WR C.J. Board LB Justin Currie DL Lenny Jones
Problem: here's your list of pending free agent LTs... If Bitonio isn't the long-term answer at LT and Corbett isn't the long-term answer at LT or LG (hearing on Cleveland media that there's rumbling he was drafted to long-term be a center)... then (1) do NOT start Baker Mayfield this season, and (2) prioritize the left tackle position among all others this offseason.
Avery's hip health sucks because I'd happily throw Collins in to the deal. I don't like moving Ogbah because a rotation of: Garrett, Mack, and Ogbah is infinitely better than Garrett, Mack, Nassib. And if Garrett (again, lower body injury history) were to miss any time, Ogbah/Mack is formidable. Nassib/Mack is ho-hum.
And Browns fans all across Ohio are hoping that the Browns trade for Khalil Mack and then issue him jersey #55. #recycle
Uh, oh. When Lyman brings out the alcohol themed adages, you know he has already started on his weekend bender. Oh hell. I'll start with you as soon as I get outta work around 7.
saw one person's proposal of Corbett, Ogbah, 1 and 3 for Mack. I think that's a bit much. I guess it depends on what they think they have with Harrison.
Years of service. Janis was "terminated" and he's immediately a free agent (4+ years) and can sign with anyone who wants him. The other guys were waived because they've got less than four and are eligible for waivers.
