I think Pitt needed the cap relief more than anything. Either way, unreal deal for Vegas.

I'm baffled to why give them the 2020 pick. couldn't they just leave MAF unprotected in the expansion draft and call it a day ? why the second rd pick? i don't get it. and in exchange for drafting him ? so was this to block other teams from taking MAF after the expansion draft as a FA?

Pitt got scared for nothing like many teams that trade up 1 spot early in the NFL draft.

It could have been about all prospects they had they didn't want to lose.

MAF had a NMC and could only be moved if he agreed. They had no viable option but to try and retain Murray. Age & salary and comparable talent - i.e., elite talent - made it imperative that the Pens try to keep Murray even though that required sacrificing MAF.

But simply exposing MAF was literally not an option.

This is where McPhee had a canasta hand playing poker, able to take on veterans with that much salary cap and get assets included.

All gms were aware of the pens situation from the beginning of the season, well before vegas was in the picture. I don't think any team really made a push for him, there was no interest. The fact the pens had to give vegas a second round pick, just to have them take him off their hands says it all.

    * The NMC listed 18 teams he could be traded to.

How many teams could now say they have better goalies than MAF?

McPhee pigged out on low hanging fruit. Truth is, vegas paid an incredible fee to get in the league and the nhl made it worth their while.

The NHL’s second round of the playoffs has only yielded one Game 7, but it is one deserving of the spotlight.

When the Winnipeg Jets play the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena Thursday (8 p.m., ET, NBC Sports Network), it will be a meeting of the league’s top two teams from the regular-season.

Nashville totaled 117 points, compared to Winnipeg’s 114. That’s 53 wins for Nashville and 52 for Winnipeg. How close were they? Winnipeg’s goal-differential was +59 and Nashville’s was +56.
Both teams have Vezina Trophy finalists in net (Pekka Rinne for Nashville and Connor Hellebuyck for Winnipeg).

More: Five people remaining in NHL playoffs who need a Stanley Cup the most

Here is our projection on what will happen on Thursday:

Why the Predators can win the Game 7

    1. When you factor minutes played, Nashville’s Filip Forsberg might be the NHL’s most productive postseason performer this season. Averaging 17:32 per game, Forsberg has generated 15 points in 12 games. His dynamic offensive play fuels the Predators’ underrated offense.

    2. Predators showed in Game 6 that they can tighten the screws on their defensive coverage. Their defensive group, particularly their top four of Roman Josi, PK Subban, Ryan Ellis and Mattias Ekholm, may be the league’s best. When you add in Vezina favorite Pekka Rinne, the Predators have the ability to thwart the Jets’ powerful offense.

    3. Shouldn’t experience count for something? The Predators should have learned plenty last season when they reached the Stanley Cup Final. The Jets group hasn’t played a game this important.

Why the Jets can win Game 7

    1. Center Mark Scheifele is being Sidney Crosby-like, or Mark Messier-like, or Steve Yzerman-like, in how he is leading the Jets in this postseason. He boasts nine goals and 13 points in 11 games. He has had six multiple-point games this post season. He is leading the charge as if the Jets aren’t going to be denied.

    2. The Jets’ scoring average is one goal better than their goals-against average. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the only team scoring, on average, one more goal than they are giving up.

    3. In the three previous games in Nashville during this series, the Jets have scored 14 goals. They are not intimidated playing in the Predators’ lair. They have been a quality road team this season. (USA Today)

how is this legal ? no outside Florida ticket sales and if they are - they are cancelled?

dress code in specific sections of the arena ?

I never heard of such a thing. tix to be only sold in-state is crazy. I can see the dress code to a certain level but Caps fans can wear red and white in Tampa ? To me this is only going to piss off Caps fans and people wanting to buy tix.
