Think about how many gms are looking real dumb now, not making a move to get MAF last year.

 

Didn't Vegas con a pick out of Pittsburgh to ensure they didn't just take another player.

 

Not exactly sure how it went down, but there was plenty of time for any other team to make a pitch for MAF before the knights.

 

MAF is playing like the MAF of old. Pitt went with Murray and unprotected Fleury for the expansion draft. Vegas is a solid team filled with a lot of veterans with Stanley Cup experience. They will be the new template of how to build and draft a successful expansion team for all new teams coming down the pike - Seattle, Hamilton/Quebec, etc.

 

MAF was unprotected but the Pittsburgh Penguins traded their second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Vegas selecting Marc-Andre Fleury.

Pretty much Pittsburgh committed to all these plans and Vegas was like... ya maybe we'll just play long term and take one of your prospects instead. There are other goalies. Pittsburgh had to protect their guys and not be in a weird MAF situation so they gave the 2nd.
