2018 NFL DRAFT - GENERAL THREAD

Discussion in 'Cleveland Browns' started by Dogside18, Apr 24, 2018.

  1. Yes cause it was totally inaccurate....the rest I have no idea what Haley will do....he may go to the short quick passing game....I guess Landry will catch 100 passes and Gordon will catch 30 in '18

No, it wasn't, you just disagreed with it because of how it was utilized with Ben.

    I specifically suggested Arizona.

Have to go find one of these, SAS, to go along with your new jersey...... :p

Tim? I think to assume Taylor and or Mayfield will be quick decision makers at QB is a stretch. I believe that is Ben's problem and Warner's strength.

The key to a short passing game is a quick mind and trigger. Not sure Taylor has that and I think Mayfield may develop into that, but as a rookie would be a first. IMHO

The problem with this line of thinking is that teams build their game plan based on the capabilities of the other team. If you're playing against a Kizer-led Browns team that is having trouble scoring week-to-week are you going to employ a pass-heavy, higher risk game plan or are you going to employ a more ball-control, balanced offense built on possessing the football and limiting the kinds of turnovers that give less-talented teams opportunities to get cheap scores?

Same could be said about teams with a lead, versus teams that are playing from behind. How many teams are trying to score inside of 6 minutes with two possession leads?

  7. That’s why I told him it’s game to game...very silly w that line of thinking but we know Irish will spin anything in the Browns favor lol

No way this can be accurate.

I'm really hoping that as we get through the pre-season, our reg season schedule will start to look less intimidating. Sometimes you get a completely different sense about the schedule in May, and then week #1 rolls around, and the landscape is just not what it seemed...Clearly much will depend on the brand of football the Cleveland Browns bring to the table. I think it's safe to assume we will be a much more competitive football team, just due to the QB changes alone. Combine that with our vastly improved secondary, and a few key additions to the offensive skill players, and I just don't see how winning is so far fetched. This team SHOULD be able to win games now...The critics will likely get on me about it, but 9-7 might be right on the mark. We could even be better than that.... I DO believe based off of simply looking at our current depth chart that we should be in the playoff hunt. There is enough talent on this roster to accomplish what many just can't fathom, because of our history. And that's WIN.

  10. I expect a lot of Browns fans to be very wealthy this year w your confidence...the line Vegas set is a walk in the park

I agree...But I thought that last year too.

In all honesty, I do think we were a better overall team last year than we were the year before. It's just that Kizer and Hue were that awful...

Another HUGE reason for my optimism: Todd Haley.

At least the Browns can't get relegated.

I'm not going to say 9-7.... I will say that we will meet or exceed 5-11. I think we'll get that just on the ability of Tyrod Taylor to not give the ball away. Our D has the potential to be very tough. We'll see!

Fun fact: Every team the Browns have beaten in the last 2 years has relocated to a different city.

    I'm no mathematician (that's a lie, I'm *awesome* at math), but 498 / 547 = 0.91042

I'm no "mathematician" either, but last I checked Roethlisberger had 28 tds and 14 ints. Not sure how accurate those stats can be when the easiest of them aren't accurate???

The 14 unaccounted for attempts are neither statistically significant, nor I guess were they able to be lumped into "shotgun" or "under center". How many times was he in the pistol formation?

Does 14 times sound about right?

I have no idea SAS... I don't know where those stats are from. I just know he (Ben) had more yards, more tds. and more ints than those stats you quoted.

You said "snaps from shotgun". Now that you've shown your math I see you meant passes from shotgun.
