2018 General Managers Discussion Thread

First we will have to get our individual player 2017 salaries, cap hit and dead caps up so we can use them as reference. Starting Feb 6th we can start cutting players and resigning ERFA, offering our RFA their tenders and choose to extend a tag to a single player. There is a thread for that. There will be deadlines posted at a later date. You can look at last year's posts to get an idea. FA rules are posted in the FA thread. Cuts need to be announced on the cut thread (so GMs know they are available) and as players are added and removed you need to account for cap changes including cap penalties. We'll make that easier to see once we nail down some issues but if you dig around a bit you can see information on that.

Trades are negotiated GM to GM in private messages. You can find that at the top right of the page. Once a trade is agreed it needs to be sent to a commissioner/moderator. If the trade works for the team caps it will more than likely be allowed.

I have something cooking up to help everyone get started.

Just hold up for a couple hours while I work on some details.

    @Will

I'm going to get the Vikings thrown up before 9am and get you the invite so we can start on working out any potential issues.

As an interested observer, how do you handle the RL roster size limits at various points in the off season?

I'd have to dig back and double check, but I think there is no limit when we go into the draft.

That makes sense as the baseline would be a team's 53 man roster at year end, minus any players whose contracts have expired, plus any players signed. But, somewhere shouldn't there be a headcount to make sure each team is compliant for roster size entering training camp?

This exercise ended last year immediately following the draft...

    ....but....

I would be interested in making some of those decisions post-draft.

Having these new toys with all the bells and whistles makes this exercise even more interesting... good stuff. Should definitely make tracking and storage of data with changes much more easy. In my world, easy is gooder. :)

That's pretty much what I was thinking when I started looking into setting this up.

We'll have all of the team templates and info already stored on the google drive so next year should be a breeze for getting started.

I have the complete free agent list up (as of today). You all should have an invite in your email to be able to access this sheet.

Under the column 'Status' we can change it from 'TBD' to whatever team has signed them and background highlight it in black. It will make it easier for everyone to read down the list after players start coming off the board.

  18. First we will have to get our individual player 2017 salaries, cap hit and dead caps up so we can use them as reference.

How do we do this? I saw the thread for this and saw people posting their players salary and everything but how do we post these? Is there a site where we download these and post them here or am I going to have to make a spreadsheet myself or something with every single players salarys, cap hit, dead caps ect?

All you need to do is make a blank post on the cap thread so that I can edit in you spreadsheet. Then I can get you the permissions you’ll need to edit it.
