Perhaps I don’t account for the rollover, year-to-year

Well, that is in the end inconsequential as none of this carries over or is realistic. For example, a team with a lot of cap space could sign 5 OGs so that no one else could have a top lineman, there isn't a rule preventing it. In my mind, it is up to the participants to police themselves on several aspects of the exercise.

As beach pointed out, the restructures weren't nearly as overused as I thought they were. This all may be a moot point.

Well in the confines of this exercise I knew I overpaid for Whitehead and Cameron Fleming, but that was in context. In hindsight badly overpaid for Fleming. But this is pre-draft. And I had identified those two as my priority FAs. Also I began the exercise with the 3rd most cap room. So I by no means mortgaged the future for them.

I was kind of surprised how little interest or financial investment Fleming drew on the open market, based on things I saw and read. He started for a team that made the Superbowl, and has positional flexibility.

I was replying to you and responding to a few but I don't disagree there is no fiscally responsibility just like there is none when you (not YOU) give 41M to a starting QB and 20M to a starting guard.

That may make it more realistic in year 1 but I think it would only take away from realism the next year though.

Fact of the matter is, because of the inexperience and inability to make anything accountable, you have to do this exercise within the confines of OUR reality, not real world reality. In our reality, we know there is a limited number of free agents and with our inexperience, all it takes is two bidders to make a free agent over paid..it's going to happen. For that matter it happens in real life, just not to the extent that is does on here. But, as Lyman points out, those inconsequential acts make this something that cannot be realistic.

I'm not sure we are doing this for the realism, as much as we are all creatures of ego. We want to see what WE would do in certain situations, not necessarily try to predict what is going to happen in real life.

For that reason, the stage needs to be set each year, and the NFL gives us an unprecedented stage to work with in all the publicly accessible numbers and structure with which to do such an exercise. I enjoy it quite a bit, whether every aspect is realistic or not.

I really don't understand what's going on with these "GMO Sheets" Tim sent out...Most of my players aren't even listed. I go to OT sheet, There''s no Kolton Miller. I go to LB sheet, there's no Tahir Whitehead. I go to DT sheet, there's no Jonathan Hankins. I go to QB sheet, no Peterman, but I still got Connor Cook....And so on and so on. Most of the guys that are listed on the sheets, I've never even heard of..

    It's very confusing IMO.

When I need to know who is on my roster, the last place I'd look is these GMO sheets...lol!
