  3. This is a penalty in the sense that you changed the rules to the game after the game started, an action that resulted in my salary cap number changing by a major amount after free agency started. Try to come up with a FA plan and have someone come to you after the fact and say "oh, btw you have $17.5 million less in your budget, a number I made up without consulting you in order to be fair to everyone else" and let me know if it starts to feel like a penalty or not. It definitely isn't easy to work around, and the number is unexpectedly high on top of the fact you are assessing an increased cap amount to a player who was under contract when the contract freeze was supposed to lock in.

You still haven't responded to my other issue: Nick Fairley's salary arbitration. You can make a case that carrying Drew Brees on the $6 million amount, while in accordance with the rules as they were prior to your changing them is not fair. I think carrying a $6 million cap penalty for Nick Fairley while the arbitration process plays out is equivalent in that it stands according to the rules, but also creates a unique situation by changing my cap amount primarily because this game is operating under a different calendar than the league.

I need to know one way or another because I have to make a decision on whether to rescind or amend the Delvin Breaux tender, and I need a firm cap amount so I know whether I can bid on FA's or not. Right now I'm locked out of the process because I have no budget to work with.

Yeah. Still kinda had just one really good season. Hard to guarantee you’ll get your money’s worth at this stage.
That said, all the money they gave Grop, better get your boy some weapons

  5. Bears bid on
    Sammy Watkins WR

    $8,500,000

    Previous Bid (Rams)
    $7,000,000

  6. I wasn't given a choice. I was more than fair in bringing this issue up instead of trying to sneak one through and I was then cut out of all succeeding conversations and assigned a contract and contract value that others agreed on without me.

  7. Bears bid on Prince Amukmara - CB

    $6,500,000

Dear god. They changed the rules in your favor. They gifted you your franchise QB on an absurdly team-friendly deal so as to approximate what will most likely happen in real life. They should have told you about it beforehand but I mean come on. Be grateful. If they hadn't interceded you would be $18M in the hole and be bidding $40M for Brees as a UFA by now.

  9. I think this situation needs to go to PMs, but since it's been all over this thiread, I think he should be able to choose his option.

    • Brees isn't extended, and thus you lose 18M and need a QB and we can all bid on him
    • Brees is extended as stated and you pay him Alex Smith money(If you think they offered him too much, give an EXACT value you think is fair)
    • They let you tag him(even though this makes the least sense) and you pay him more

Does this help in any way?

I told you already. What do you want? Brees for free with only his $6M dead cap from before for 2018? Ain't happening. I already told you that if you want then just let Brees go in FA like our rules would have forced you to if we didn't help.

IF WE FOLLOW THE RULES EXACTLY THEN YOU LOSE BREES AND HAVE A $18M DEAD CAP PENALTY!

It was originally in PMs with the Mods. Tim needs to get back online to tell him we are doing him a favour. Also if he wants cap room he can still restructure some players I believe.

We(commishes) only noticed the issue the night before. We couldn't screw him by letting Brees go to FA with an $18M dead cap. So we got together in a PM last night to come up with a solution that would be fair to all.

He really only had one good season but it was a great season with Bortles as QB. Plus I need a red zone target so I'm willing to overpay a bit for Robinson

That's the cost of free agency. Look at Cousins. Or my boy Rashaan Melvin. Didn't see that coming.

  16. If they had not interceded Brees would be on contract for $6 million right now.

    Raiders bid on
    Trumain Johnson $13M
    previous bid $12M

  18. No it wan't. I mentioned this publicly, the mods chose to take it private and not inform me of what they were doing until they had negotiated a contract for me.

I know this is starting to look like I'm throwing a tantrum here but that isn't the case. Conversations have been held in private that I'm not included in, inaccurate things have been stated in public, and questions I've asked are not being answered. I'm aware that responding to those things is making for a bad look for me, but some real concerns are not being addressed, to the point I'm currently frozen out from participating in this game.

:wall:I really haven't had the opportunity to read the whole discussion, because it is on multiple pages. From what I gather, you either want to keep Brees or you don't. I really don't get what you are trying to do. He is expensive, no matter how you account for the money. Deal with it. I traded Mack just to release cap money, sometimes you gotta do what you don't want to.:boss:

Okay I've said it before but we came up with this at the last moment because we didn't notice the issue until then. If not then we would have contacted you sooner to tell you the deal. Either way I don't think there was any other option without making it unrealistic and unfair for you or everyone else.

Let's take a step back even. What would you have proposed that wouldn't have given you a ton of free cap room? I am sure you are just confused so let's talk it through please.
