Because time stamps and order of bids and reupping are very important.

Please use the above as an example on posting a bid. If a bid needs to go back to the previous leader it is much easier for everyone to track. It will happen, especially later when we have 30 players bids floating around at the same time once the $6M min. is removed.

We don't know if he will be owed more or less. For now we will leave it as is, released with $1M in savings. Unless the arbitration comes up soon and is significant we will keep it as is.

AFAIK this exercise has no way to account for the fact that Brees IRL would probably resign before becoming a UFA, and take a hometown discount. So if he became a UFA you would have to bid for him, which aside from being bad for you financially, would ruin the immersion for everyone else.

The funny thing is that we got both sides complaining. The Saints and a rival GM with Beach.

Until I see someone other than Brady who is married to a woman far richer than he and who runs a shady business out of the parking lot of the stadium regularly take a hometown discount I refuse to believe QB’s will. Brees is going to look at the Jimmy G contract and realize $25 million a year IS a hometown discount.

  19. This is a penalty in the sense that you changed the rules to the game after the game started, an action that resulted in my salary cap number changing by a major amount after free agency started. Try to come up with a FA plan and have someone come to you after the fact and say "oh, btw you have $17.5 million less in your budget, a number I made up without consulting you in order to be fair to everyone else" and let me know if it starts to feel like a penalty or not. It definitely isn't easy to work around, and the number is unexpectedly high on top of the fact you are assessing an increased cap amount to a player who was under contract when the contract freeze was supposed to lock in.

You still haven't responded to my other issue: Nick Fairley's salary arbitration. You can make a case that carrying Drew Brees on the $6 million amount, while in accordance with the rules as they were prior to your changing them is not fair. I think carrying a $6 million cap penalty for Nick Fairley while the arbitration process plays out is equivalent in that it stands according to the rules, but also creates a unique situation by changing my cap amount primarily because this game is operating under a different calendar than the league.

I need to know one way or another because I have to make a decision on whether to rescind or amend the Delvin Breaux tender, and I need a firm cap amount so I know whether I can bid on FA's or not. Right now I'm locked out of the process because I have no budget to work with.

We made the adjustment to help you.

IF WE DIDN'T CHANGE THE RULES you would have gotten a $18M Dead Cap Penalty AND lost Brees to FA.
Trust me on this. Ask Beach he would know the cap rules. Also Tim was the one that brought it to our attention and then we tried to draft a fair solution.
