Chicago Bears bid $9,000,000 on Allen Robinson

 

My apologies, I wasn't aware of the franchise tag thread, I assume we reflected the tags on our sheets so that's where I tagged Fuller. Should I still post in the tag thread?

 

Brees was an exception because of the scenario where you were in cap hell if he was released.

Keeping that in mind we had 3 options:
1. Allow you to tag him even though you can't be tagged.
2. Forgive dead cap for him going into FA.
3. Come up with an extension that was fair for you and your competition.

The last one was the best and most realistic and fair option.

His cap hit 2 years ago was $17.25M and last year it was $19M. Now he has to extend in a new pricier market, even with a team friendly deal, while the team already carries 6M 2018 cap and $18M of 2018 dead cap for him already that needs to be taken into account in a new contract while he is also getting older, possibly limiting contract flexibility.

We felt that $23.5 M was a good number without upsetting anyone but Beach. We always knew it'd upset Beach.

 

He was tagged.

 

We had all the different threads for a reason. Go there right now and say who you tagged and tendered in your sheet ASAP.

 

You can say you are out but don't say anything like "sold" to confuse people.

You really think it's fair to hit me with a $17.5 million cap penalty after the game started, disregarding your rules in the process (none of which removes Brees from the Saints roster) by assigning Brees a contract at a higher AAV than Tom Brady (in spite of Brees indicating a willingness to take less $ to bring in FA's) and on top of that you are frontloading the deal so all the cap hit is up front when Brees has always negotiated with extra years tagged on to spread out the cap hit?

You didn't address my other question. While you are refiguring my cap here are you going to consider the $6 million still in arbitration for the Fairley deal? What is my final cap number after all of this?

Uhm it isn't a $17.5M penalty. Brees isn't under contract next year. If you think it's unfair I will gladly let you release Brees and take an $18M dead cap penalty AND lose him in FA. And as I said it has to be higher than the 17.25M and 19M before plus there is still prorated money in play. This isn't a 17.5M penalty I doubt know how you pulled that number out. (I know 23.5-6 = 17.5 but that number doesn't work in a practical sense).

As for Fairley wasn't he released before we locked in rosters? So you wouldn't have him and save $1M.
