Is it the same if offer is on a transition tagged player?

  2. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

Yes but then once the team signs the player to the offer sheet then the tendering team gets 72 hours to match or give up and receive any compensation. (RFA or Tag)

  3. Quew777 Franchise Player Manager Lions

I think of a transition tag as a pseudo-RFA-(Undrafted) They have the right to match(3 days, right?), after the 48 hrs of no bids.

It's my understanding that there is no draft pick compensation required if you sign a Transition tagged player....Is that correct?

  5. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

No. Just a Right of First Refusal (RoFR)

So if you really want a tagged player and think the other team will match your offer since they have nothing to gain then you may want to bid higher.

    gotcha. Thank you.

    The Tennessee Titans bid on
    Avery Williamson LB
    $9,075,000

The New York Jets bid on
    Avery Williamson LB
    $8,250,000

If I did decide to go higher from original bid for that reason, would it require another 48 hour waiting period? Or can I just sign him to an offer sheet at a higher number than I bid two days ago, since I have the only bid?

So is Joe Mixon an official bust already?

  10. Soffacet Guest

Seems like the rules for offer sheets are pretty clunky. Shouldn't a player just sign it after X hours?

  11. TopDawg Legend

All that matters is that he went in the 2nd round RT...;)

:boss: On the one hand, you’re right. And aren’t I supposed to be rocking some sort of avatar or something?
On the other it’s still a bit of vindication since I was in the minority saying he wasn’t worth a first round pick, flags or no.

  13. The Seattle Seahawks match the bid for Sheldon Richardson

  14. Quew777 Franchise Player Manager Lions

    Has it been 48hrs yet?

I'm confused. Doesn't he need to officially try to sign him first? I've been told repeatedly ITT that a bid is just a bid.

  18. TopDawg Legend

My intention was to go higher, but I was waiting on an answer to this ^^^question

  19. But it had already been 48 hours before you asked...

As far as I've been told, a bid is just a bid, and nothing is official someone makes a post to the effect of "Team X signs Player Y". The 48 hours elapsing after a bid just gives a GM the right to make that post.
