[twitter=https://twitter.com/Alexander1Great/status/854404970145345537][/twitter] My guy! Although damn... that is awfully high.
McShay trying to strike lightning in a bottle w another SEC QB becoming a starter and making a splash....lets see how Mr Prescott fairs his Soph yr
The two QB's I feel the surest about in regards to first round, are Trubisky and Maholmes...But I'm about 99% sure that Watson goes in that first round as well... McShay's comment about Dobbs is interesting to me....I absolutely think Dobbs could be our plan for probably 3rd round, IF we miss out on MT early...And I really don't have a problem with that...I just don't want to see the Browns package a bunch of premium picks together to go after ANY QB, draft or vet...And I don't think they will. Thankfully, our FO values these picks too much for that...I can see possibly a slight trade up ahead of Buffalo at #10, if Trubisky is there, but......We'll see. The Browns are not going to give up an arsenal of picks to move up 8 spots like I've heard speculated...They just aren't....Too many holes to fill...
Haslam has Volunteer ties. Jus sayin.... I really hope that wouldn't figure in to our QB search, but the fact remains, our owner is a big Tennessee Vol... Seriously, I've thought Dobbs could be in play for us for a while now, though I never thought earlier than pick 3.1...Yikes...McShay is gettin crazy with the round one stuff, but round two wouldn't surprise me. Due to nature of the position, I pretty much figure most of the QB's go a round earlier than they should... I'm fine with that if that's what the plan is....I just don't see Trubisky getting to #12, and I don't see Cleveland going all in to get him....If he falls into their lap, great. Here's the problem. I think every team knows Cleveland would take him at #12. That's why I don't think there's much chance at all that he gets to us at that pick...We might as well have a big flashing sign that says, "if you want Trubisky, you better get ahead of us".... They only way I'd be upset about missing out on Trubisky is if Arizona leapfrogged us to get him. That would confirm who Bruce Arians was talking about when he says he sees one QB in this group he thinks is franchise guy...I respect his opinion on QB's as much as anybody in the NFL. So that particular scenario would be upsetting IMO... Not losing sleep over Trubisky....I don't figure him to be there at #12.
Still a big part of me believes we did just this - all the while never fully intending to go through with taking Trubisky. Best way to make a Top 10 target slip is to make someone else do something desperate. As for Dobbs... he's been one of my personal favorites for a while now and I would take him - as you said - at #65, but I would even consider that a reach. A lot of folks have compared him to Prescott, so that will help is stock. McShay is doing/saying the prudent thing and getting it on paper that he's worth a first round pick so he can do an "I-told-you-so" if another Prescott-like situation happens.
I hate these type of comparison's but I'm kinda bored, so here goes: MITCH TRUBISKY ceiling: Aaron Rodgers floor: Tony Romo one thing I don't think Trubisky gets enough credit for is his athleticism. Much like Rodgers, he keeps his eyes down field, but if a lane opens up, he's got the wheels to take advantage. DESHAUN WATSON ceiling: Drew Brees floor: Bob Giffin III I don't think he's anything like Griffin from the neck up, let me clear about that. Watson has more leadership qualities, and doesn't have that arrogance or phoniness or whatever it is about Griffin that makes him unlikable...But when it comes to pocket presence and field awareness, I see similarities... DESHONE KIZER ceiling: Alex Smith floor: Akili Smith Obviously another wide range here...I've heard rumors of "diva" qualities about Kizer, and that really raises red flags in my book. That's the last thing our locker room needs.....But he obviously has the physical skill set. I think he's a wilcard and I'd stay away. His decision making at key moments is erratic at best.. PAT MAHOLMES ceiling: Brett Favre floor: EJ Manuel He always gets the Favre comparison and it's easy to see why. Big arm, and a lot of dumb throws...If you take him, be prepared for plenty of head scratchers, to go along with the passes that "wow" ya... If it wasn't made clear by the comps, I see Trubisky as the safest bet to be a good NFL QB....I think the Browns do to...
TD, More and more I have visions of you in a chief Wahoo outfit beating the war drum doing a QB chant on the 50 yard line of first energy stadium. *THIS* *DANCE* *DRINK*
The latest "smoke" on Trubisky is coming from Chicago at #3...There is genuine interest in this kid Crex. I think many teams see a potential franchise QB... Our Browns have been interested for a long time....If you wanna believe it's all smoke, that's fine...I doubt he makes it out of the top 3 picks... The interest from Cleveland is real. I hope Browns fans don't "lose it" if the team moves up from #12 to get him...There's not a doubt in my mind they are trying to figure out where they need to be... i could be wrong though...it happened once before..
I don't doubt that there is genuine interest in Trubiskey. I too feel he has the highest ceiling of this year's QB class. Eventually I think he can be a good qb in the nfl. I'm not sold that he is going to be that guy that puts the team over the top and wins super bowls. I personally would prefer to see the Browns F.O. draft based on talent and not reach for a guy based on need. Too many holes to fill. I'll definitely get behind the guy if the browns take him.
SanFran is expressing interest in Trubisky at #2. Is that real? Or are they trying to get Cleveland to take him earlier than they would like to get Garrett to drop to them?
9-of-16 scouts polled by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel named Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer this year's draft-eligible quarterback likeliest to bust. Patrick Mahomes received two likeliest-to-bust votes, Mitchell Trubisky and Deshaun Watson each got one, and one scout declined to comment. The final two scouts said all of the quarterbacks were equally risky. Kizer looked like a potential No. 1 overall pick after his sophomore year, but he temporarily got benched last year as the bottom fell out on Notre Dame's season. "He?s not as good as he should be because he?s not committed to the game," one AFC executive said of Kizer. "He?s committed to building a brand. He wants all the things that come with being a starting quarterback but doesn?t want to put in the work." Added one NFC personnel man, "(Selfishness and money are) what drives him. It's all about him. Prima donna. Thin-skinned."
Surprisingly, there is even stronger interest being rumored from San Fran in connection to DeShaun Watson at #2 overall. The Panthers made a strong move to trade up to that spot and the 49ers basically would not negotiate the pick. It's probably my most interesting situation to look at going into Thursday. The other one I'm interested in is Tennessee. There's some indications that the Browns will move up to that spot, returning a second round pick to the Titans so that they can go after what I'm assuming is Mitch Trubisky.
