[del]Pat Mahomes[/del] 9 1/4" hands...He just moved way down on my list... On the flip side, Trubisky came in 6'2 1/8", 222 lbs, 9 1/2" hands. I'll put him back in the running... The most impressive specimen though is DeShone Kizer Here is the perfect build for an AFC North QB: 6' 4 1/4", 233 lbs, 9 7/8" hands Now, if he only repeated his 2015 year in 2016, he would be the clear cut #1 overall draft pick....alas, he didn't, he didn't even look like the same player...alien abduction? Conspiracy anyone? I'm rambling... It's still hard for me to get behind any of these guys as a first round pick, let alone #1 overall. However, I will state for the record, I believe DeShone Kizer and Deshaun Watson will go in the top 3 of this draft, with Mitch Trubisky going in the top 10. In case you are wondering: Deshaun Watson= 6' 2 1/2", 221 lb 9 3/4" hands Patrick Mahomes II= 6' 2", 225 lb, 9 1/4" hands Davis Webb= 6'5", 229 lb, 9 1/4" hands Joshua Dobbs= 6'3", 216 lb, 9 1/4" hands Cooper Rush= 6' 3", 228 lb, 9 1/8" hands C. J. Beathard= 6'2", 219 lb, 9 3/8" hands Brad Kaaya= 6'4", 214 lb, 9 3/4" hands
It goes back to Hue Jackson's line: "A good QB prospect trumps a great non-QB prospect."... Unfortunately, I think Trubisky is in play for the Browns at #1....I'm not crazy about it, but if they think he can be the guy, so be it. I'm okay with keeping Kessler in the mix, but just handing him the job is nonsense. He's a third round pick that has proven nothing other than he could be a bit fragile...He needs to compete and earn it...If he plays well, it will sort itself out.
And around and around we go...lol! C'mon Lym, that's just not true, at worst these guys are getting 2nd rd grades...Maybe not "great" but that still qualifies as good by most accounts....Anyway, I just want to make sure I'm keeping track; You don't like any college prospect in the country....You don't like Garoppolo.....You don't like Tyrod Taylor.....I'm going to go out on a limb and say you aren't enamored with Mike Glennon.....You can't stand RG3.....But Cody Kessler gets a pass, and you love Kevin Hogan as a prospect... *SCRATCH* I assume you want us to roll into next season with more than just Kessler and Hogan on the roster.....Is there ANY vet that you would like to see us bring in? Any mid round flyer prospect that you like? If you've addressed this, I apologize. I must have missed it.
Never said I didn't like Garoppolo. (remember . . . I was one of the few that liked Hoyer). Glennon just looks goofy (think . . . Incabod Crane). I think there a number of intriguing QB's in this draft. Just none that warrant a 1st round pick and would be a reach in the 2nd. And, I don't care for any QB who thinks like a rabbit. P.S. You forgot . . . I can't stand broccoli.
I hate broccoli...but you lost me on the "think like a rabbit"??? you think Glennon looks goofy? uhm...yep. It won't matter because neither will be there, but given the Browns' situation, they would be certifiably crazy to pass on Trubisky or Watson at #12....If either one is there, Hue has to take a shot... I like them both way better than Jared Goff....
o Watson is going to flame out worse than E.J. Manual. ** o Trubiski has a chance but you're staring at YEARS of development. He wouldn't do a thing to save Hue's job. And they are BOTH better than Goff (so far). ** I could have used Geno Smith but I wanted to tweak Slopper just a little.
I absolutely prefer Trubisky over Watson, but they are both strong enough as prospects to warrant a shot from Cleveland at #12 IMO.... Watson > Geno or E.J.
I'm not basing liking someone just because they have big hands, otherwise I would be all over DeShone Kizer #1 overall... But if you recall, I was the only one around that liked Wentz as the top prospect last year...and it came WAY before he was being touted by the talking heads. For the record, I like Wentz better than any of the prospects THIS year as well...still wouldn't have taken him in the top of the draft like the Eagles did(at draft time). He is looking more like a good pick now, than he did at the time. For the record, I like Watson, Kizer, and yes, even Trubisky more than Goff last year. The hand thing is just one negative on a chart...if he was a perfect QB, it wouldn't affect me as much.
I remember we both liked Wentz last year...I kept thinking the Rams were sandbagging with all the Goff talk, but then to my surprise, they took him... and I was just joking with ya. I know you don't solely base your projections on hand size. lol!...thus the little winking emoji
Ha-ha, no I don't, but it has become a bigger part of my evaluation the last couple of years. I never thought about it before that, but once I started researching, I started thinking about it a lot more.
I know Brett Favre credited his large hands with helping him have so much success all those years in Green Bay...There's some merit there. It's an advantage to have bigger hands, just like it's an advantage to be tall...It's something that obviously can't be coached. You either got it, or you don't....It's not the "end all" in QB evaluations, but it's a factor.
I told Irish years ago EJ Manuel was not NFL starting material...a very good college QB but he didn't have "it"
Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News is reporting that there are at least three teams known to have interest in signing QB Tyrod Taylor if the Bills do not pick up his option the coming days. According to Carucci, the three teams to keep an eye on for Taylor include the Browns, 49ers, and Jets. This shouldn?t come as a big surprise, considering that they?re all in need of obvious help at the quarterback position. Carucci mentions that a trade is a possibility for the Bills, but is still considered unlikely because of the terms of Taylor?s contract. The Bills needed to decide whether to pick up his $27.5M option bonus by March 11. Taylor, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. After four years in Baltimore, the Bills signed him to a three-year, $3.35 million contract that included just $1.2 million guaranteed last year. However, the third year of his contract actually voided after he surpassed the snap limit last year. The Bills later signed him to six-year, $92 million contract but the deal is really a one-year, $9.5 million agreement with a $15.5 million option on 2017 to go along with a $12 million base salary In 2016, Taylor has thrown for 3,023 yards while completing 61.7 percent of his passes to go along with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. Taylor has added 469 yards rushing and six touchdowns on the ground. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 quarterback out of 36 qualifying players.
