Seems pretty obvious Lym....discount QB. Everybody loves a sale price.... The Browns can be like that guy that buys the Buick, and goes around trying to convince everybody that it's just as good as the Cadillac...
I was really just making an observation about the Mahomes love. But hell, I agree that the fact that he might be available at #33 DOES make him more attractive... I'm already on record as saying I like him as a prospect, several times. I thought the Brett Favre comparison was a bit much, but he's a solid prospect IMO, and among the top names in this QB crop... I still like Trubisky at #12 way better, but of the rookie plans, Mahomes at top of 2nd wouldn't be bad at all, and does seem more realistic... The Buicks are nice....
What if there are no Cadillacs for sale on the lot? (New or Used). Even you would have to agree that a Buick is better than the Yugos we've had.
And, while we are on the topic of cars (kind of) . . . There's a reason the windshield is so much larger than the rear view mirror. It is much more important to focus on where you're going than where you've been.
No doubt. If he's our guy, lets just hope Mahomes performs like this Buick: 87 Buick Regal Grand Sport GNX -
I've gone on record that IF we HAD to draft a QB in the first round, I would be comfortable with Watson or Mahomes at #12..even Watson at #1... I don't think Mahomes will be available at #33 personally. I think he will be drafted in the first round.
I still say he is on the market...It's just that the asking price is a first round draft pick or (2) second rounders and all the GMs know, he isn't worth that asking price. I'm sure that other QBs are also available for the right price, but you need someone willing to pay it...otherwise, the statement "he won't be traded" will come around. So, now that Cousins has been franchised and Garoppolo, for all intents and purposes is off the market as well... This rookie class should get yet another inflated boost to their draft stock. What happens if the Bears release Cutler...and no one picks him up pre-draft? That happens, and I can see 3 QBs going in the top 10...with a 4th going in the first round.
My favorite QB plan just got blown out of the water by Adam Sheffler.... Now I'm left to wonder if Trubisky could possibly still be on the board at #12.... I just can't get excited about Watson. His game does not look to me like it will translate well to the NFL. He doesn't look at more than half the field ever, and he doesn't have any kind of pocket presence that you like to see in a QB...The comparison to RG3 seems accurate...
Woman to her husband while at it: "Please say dirty things to me!" Man: "Bath, Kitchen, Living room..." ___________________________________________________________ My son wanted to know what it's like to be married. I told him to leave me alone and when he did I asked him why he was ignoring me. _________________________________________________ A scientific study discovered that women with extra weight usually live longer than men who point it out. __________________________________________________ Young Son: Is it true, Dad, that in some parts of Africa a man doesn't know his wife until he marries her? Dad: That happens in every country, son. _________________________________________________ A couple are sitting in their living room, sipping wine. But when she was on her deathbed?and with her blessing?he opened the box and found a ?crocheted doll and $95,000 in cash. ?My mother told me that the secret to a happy marriage was to never argue,? she explained. ?Instead, I should keep quiet and crochet a doll.? Her husband was touched. Only one doll was in the box?that meant she?d been angry with him only once in 60 years. ?But what about all this money?? he asked. ?Oh,? she said, ?that?s the money I made from selling the dolls.?
Forget Garoppolo. That isn't happening, but I completely disagree about his worth. See it for what it is. JG is not on the market. period. We can't find one capable guy, but some teams actually know what they are doing. If ANYBODY understands the importance of a solid #2 QB to a championship caliber team, it's Bill Belichick...He has a SB ring from the 1990 Giants team that lost starter Phil Simms along the way. They simply handed the ball to Jeff Hosstettler and didn't miss a beat in their run toward the title...Tom Brady will be 40 next season. Enough said...Belichick isn't stupid. I was hoping for a while that JG was a real possibility, and the Pats were gonna get crazy, but in the back of my mind I had doubts....Yesterday's news just confirmed it, and Cleveland's best chance to improve in the W column just vanished....I'm not saying it's doom and gloom now, but in Cleveland's situation, Jimmy Garoppolo clearly would have been the best option...Now I think it's Trubisky, but expecting big help from him this season would be a stretch. He's a long way from being ready....
Okay... let's take a step back and look at our situation. Dallas is getting mad kudos for their turnaround from 4-12 to 13-3 and they're heaping an inordinate amount of success on Dak Prescott. Prescott: 16 games, 67.8% completion, 3,667 yards, 23 TD, 4 INT, 104.9 QB rating Kessler: 16 game (projection), 65.9% completion, 3,091 yards, 16 TD, 3 INT, 95.1 QB rating *Kessler's numbers based on only full games played* What Prescott had that Kessler didn't was the... #2 rushing offense[/*] #1 rushing defense[/*] The 1-15 Browns had the #19 and #31, respectively. Dallas actually the #23 passing offense (Cleveland #28) and the #26 passing defense (Cleveland #21). Despite the hype and awards, Prescott wasn't the reason that team turned around. It's because they were built well through the offensive and defensive lines and they committed to running the football. I don't have a single doubt in my mind that if the players were flipped and Kessler went to Dallas and Prescott came here, the numbers would have been strikingly similar, barring injuries. Literally, the only reason to not start Kessler in 2017 and see what he can do for the team is if the Browns' team doctors have legitimate concerns about his concussions. What Cleveland should do instead is focus on building the same way - adding talent to the offensive and defensive lines, picking up a running back, and commit to a ground-and-pound approach with a smart, "game managing" QB like Kessler at the helm.
I'm with ya SAS. The strategy has never been lost on me. I'm all about upgrading the QB, but only at the right price. I would never spend #1 overall on ANY of the prospects including Jimmy G....Now if Trubisky is on the board at #12, I'd probably take a shot, but I don't think there is any chance that happens... So what do we do with RG3? Pay him the $750k he's due next week, or say goodbye and bring in one of these guys: look at that neck! ^^^^
Since I'm the founding father of his fan club, I'd say give the keys to the kingdom to this guy: Sign Glennon to a back-up contract (injury relief), cut RG3, and let Cody have the entire preseason as "the guy".
It's really bizarre how people are so worried bout where they select their QB....I don't want Trubisky at #1 but you better believe if he's there at #12 I'm taking him....let's say they take Trubisky #1 and Barnett #12 instead of Garrett #1 and Humphrey #12...no doubt the 1st scenario is better
